Transmigrating Into a Book, the Villain Becomes the White Moonlight!

60: Chapter 6 Unequal Relationships”Look at you...” Su Bai felt completely uncomfortable under Lin Wan’s direct, ambiguous gaze. His back even prickled, and he instinctively wanted to retort as usual. But the words caught in his throat, realizing the occasion today seemed inappropriate. He awkwardly changed his words to a somewhat stiff: ”Why are you looking at me?”

”I like looking.” Lin Wan blurted it out almost immediately, answering quickly and clearly, without a trace of hesitation or shyness, her frankness almost abnormal.

“...”

Su Bai was caught off guard by this direct hit and choked, completely at a loss for words.

Did this woman take the wrong medicine? Or did she forget to take her medicine today?

He eyed Lin Wan suspiciously.

Indeed, it seemed she had been a bit off ever since last weekend.

First, she uncharacteristically showed up at the internet cafe and played games with them all day, and now she suddenly says something like ’I like looking’ out of nowhere.

What made Su Bai feel most difficult was that when Lin Wan said this, her face still maintained that cool, indifferent expression, without any extra emotion.

It wasn’t the mischievousness of a joke, nor the evasiveness of shyness; it was simply a calm statement.

This attitude, combined with the content of her words, created a peculiar sense of contradiction, like when you’re inexplicably punched, and you ask the other person why they hit you, but they just answer emotionlessly: ”I like hitting you.”

It felt rather like she was looking for trouble.

He discreetly shifted his gaze, looking out at the rapidly receding streetscape outside the window, deciding to temporarily ignore this incomprehensible abnormal state.

A subtle silence fell inside the car, broken only by a fleeting, faint smile in Butler Fu’s eyes as he focused on driving the vehicle towards the pre-arranged birthday banquet location.

Cloud Mirror.

The car stopped, Su Bai pushed the door open and got out, looking up at the restaurant before him.

The facade design was elegant, and exquisite interior decor was dimly visible behind the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

”Is it Chinese food?”

He asked casually; when it came to food, he still preferred familiar flavors.

”Yes, Young Master, it’s a reformed style of Chinese cuisine, and it has an excellent reputation,” Butler Fu confirmed with a nod.

To be honest, Su Bai rarely ate out at restaurants in A City itself. Uh, that phrasing is too low-class, it doesn’t fit his persona as a Young Master Su.

After so many years of transmigration, some deeply ingrained linguistic habits still hadn’t changed.

This is probably like some people’s stereotypical imagination of top billionaires: their clothing, food, housing, and transportation must all be custom-made, with a dozen servants attending to their daily lives, as if even a hint of common life would diminish their value.

In any novel, if a rich second-generation heir doesn’t have such a persona, the author will surely be criticized for not knowing rich people.

Su Bai wasn’t that idiotic; he simply hadn’t explored the local dining scene because he was younger before and had limited activities. Whatever he wanted to eat, the family’s Chinese and Western chefs could handle it.

After he got a bit older, his interest shifted to flying around the world, experiencing different customs and cultures, so he lacked exploration of the dining scene right at his doorstep.

For him, a semi-shut-in, many places in A City were still uncharted territory.

”Tsk, this location and atmosphere... it wouldn’t be bad to open a distinctive bar here,” Su Bai’s gaze swept along the stylish street, where lights were just beginning to come on, and the idea of having fun resurfaced.

If he could gather a dance girl group, dim the lights, put on some music, ah, that would be truly enjoyable.

”This street is adjacent to the university town and the emerging business district. The consumer base is mainly young people and white-collar workers, and its commercial potential and cultural atmosphere are indeed highly regarded by many,” Butler Fu provided objective information at the opportune moment.

”Alright, Butler Fu, you can go back and rest first. We’ll figure out our own way back after dinner,” Su Bai said, turning. He wasn’t used to making people wait.

”Young Master, you’re too kind. Just contact me after you’re done. I happen to have some other matters to attend to nearby, so the timing should be just right,” Butler Fu arranged with a smile.

”Alright then, thank you for your trouble.” Su Bai didn’t insist further.

The family could have assigned him a dedicated young driver long ago, but he didn’t see the need.

Anyway, once he reached the legal driving age, Butler Fu’s role as an all-around housekeeper and driver would probably naturally come to an end.

Taking the elevator to the reserved private room, they pushed the door open to find it already bustling with activity.

Zhou Feng, Little Fatty, and their close friends were all there. To Su Bai’s slight surprise, there were also several familiar girls in the private room, sitting and chatting with Zhou Feng and the others.

”Oh ho!” Su Bai raised an eyebrow, casually sat down next to the empty main seat, and his gaze swept back and forth between the couples, teasing, ”I didn’t realize you guys were like this, always hiding it. When did you all quietly start dating? You’re doing great underground work.”

Zhou Feng, thick-skinned, chuckled and replied, ”Young Master Su, you’re busy with a myriad of tasks, with only game code and event blueprints in your eyes. How would we dare bother you with our trivial matters?”

His words sparked laughter, and the atmosphere immediately became even more relaxed.

Lin Wan watched Su Bai seamlessly integrate into the group, putting the cake on the table, and her lips unconsciously curved upwards.

”Serve the dishes, serve the dishes, I’m starving.”

Su Bai urged with a smile, taking out his phone from his pocket and casually scrolling through it.

Mu Xue’s avatar had a small red dot.

He tapped it open; the latest message was sent about an hour ago: ”Did you get to school?”

It seemed to carry a cautious inquiry.

Su Bai typed on the screen, replying briefly: ”Busy today, didn’t go to school.”

After sending it, his gaze swept upwards, seeing an earlier message from Mu Xue about storing the dessert.

He then remembered this matter, so he added: ”The dessert shouldn’t go bad, right? I’ll eat it tomorrow.”

On the other side of the city, Mu Xue read the message almost instantly.

Upon learning that Su Bai hadn’t gone to school at all today, the emotion that had lingered in her heart since noon deflated like a balloon pricked by a needle.

The carefully drawn little heart, practiced repeatedly, had lain in the quiet cake box all day, ultimately unseen by the person it wished to see.

But then, Su Bai’s follow-up sentence rekindled a glimmer of hope.

Mu Xue immediately perked up, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she replied: ”There’s fresh fruit on it, I’m afraid it won’t be fresh if left overnight, and the taste won’t be good...”

She hoped he would understand her thoughtfulness.

Although she knew the possibility was minuscule.

Su Bai’s reply was quick, but like a basin of cold water: ”Then I won’t eat it. I’ll buy it again next time.”

Decisive, concise, with no extra explanation and no further context.

Clearly, for him, the topic was closed.

”Okay.” Mu Xue sent these two simple words, her finger hovering above the screen, ultimately lacking the courage to ask anything further, and having no standing to express any dissatisfaction.

Her relationship with Su Bai, from the very beginning, was set with this tone: he leads, she accepts;

He gives, she is grateful;

If he neglects, she waits.
