I See Murders Before They Happen

Chapter 194: Chapter 192: Just Wanted to Teach Her a Lesson

”I didn’t know things would turn out this way.”

Wang Youxian’s hands were clenched into tight fists.

”Liu Namo just told me that since Liang Qi dared to call the police, he had to teach her a lesson so she’d learn her place and never dare to do it again.”

”So, I asked Liang Qi to meet me. She didn’t know I knew Liu Namo and wasn’t wary of me at all, so she came right out when I called for her.”

”After she came out, Liu Namo dragged her into his car and took her back to his apartment.”

”I went with them. I thought... he was just going to beat her up.”

Listening from outside, Su Miaoyi frowned.

’Is this guy even human? What does he mean ”just” beat her up? How about I go in there and ”just” beat him up right now?’

Inside the interrogation room, Wang Youxian’s body trembled slightly as he spoke. ”I never expected him to kill her.”

”Liu Namo came out of the room, his hands covered in blood. I was terrified, so terrified. I never thought he’d be that crazy.”

”He told me that Liang Qi was dead and that his family would handle the aftermath.”

”He also told me that if I chose to keep my mouth shut and never mention it, he would invest in any project I wanted to film in the future. But if I chose to go to the police, I wouldn’t get away either. I was an accomplice. I’d be convicted too.”

”I was so scared. I didn’t know what to do. My first instinct was to go into the room to see Liang Qi. When I got there, I saw so much blood—on the floor, on the bed, on Liang Qi’s body.”

”I couldn’t count how many wounds she had. I didn’t know what to do. I just stared at her for a long time. Then I thought she must be uncomfortable with her hands tied to the bedpost, so I untied them. And then... she suddenly called out my name.”

Wang Youxian shut his eyes, then suddenly screamed, ”I had no choice! I really had no choice! I didn’t want to kill her! If I didn’t kill her, I would have been finished! My life would have been over! My future would have been ruined!”

”What about her? Her life is over,” Zhuang Yanzheng said sharply.

Wang Youxian lowered his head and started crying again.

Zhuang Yanzheng looked visibly irritated. He paused for a moment before asking, ”Were you the one who introduced Liang Qi to Liu Namo?”

Wang Youxian nodded. ”I happened to find out about Liu Namo’s habit of beating people, so I introduced Liang Qi to him. I swear I just wanted to teach her a lesson. I never wanted her to die.”

”What did she ever do to you? Did she hit you? Curse you out? Or when your parents divorced and your mother didn’t take you with her, was it because Liang Qi was meddling behind the scenes, preventing her?” Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

Wang Youxian was speechless.

Zhuang Yanzheng stared at him. ”So it was none of those things. If that’s the case, what did she do wrong to make you treat her like that? Your mother didn’t take you, so you can resent her. Your father beat you, so you can resent him too. You can hate your grandparents. What did Liang Qi ever do to you? Why did you need to teach her a lesson?”

Hearing his words, Wang Youxian cried even louder.

Zhuang Yanzheng sighed. ”Quiet!”

Wang Youxian’s crying stopped instantly.

”After your surveillance was lifted, why did you run?” Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

”I was worried you’d find out I killed Liang Qi. I got scared and thought I’d leave Jinghai first, find a place to hide out for a while,” Wang Youxian said.

”The day Liu Namo died, why weren’t you worried we’d find out about this?” Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

He had been far too calm that day.

”Liu Namo had done so many despicable things; he was bound to face retaliation. If he was murdered, it would be by someone from the set. None of them would have any connection to Liang Qi, so her case never even crossed my mind.”

”So what made you think of it later?”

”The trending topics online. Yesterday, the internet was going wild. I was under surveillance in my hotel and was bored, so I kept checking the trending topics to see what all the fuss was about.”

”I took a nap in the hotel yesterday afternoon and couldn’t really sleep at night, so I started thinking about the show *Midnight Case Breakthrough*—whether I could salvage it and keep it going. This whole trending topic blew up so much, I was thinking maybe I could use it as a form of promotion. So I opened up the trending topics again to study some promotional methods.”

”Then, at three in the morning, a new trending topic suddenly appeared: Liu Namo, Retribution.”

”It was just three words, so I clicked on it without much thought. The person who posted it was called: Wang Shuichimuqi.”

Su Miaoyi mulled over the name.

She hadn’t seen it before. She had skimmed the names of the accounts that were fanning the flames online during the day yesterday.

Many similar people had popped up online yesterday. Because the incident was hot and getting a lot of traffic, many people jumped on the bandwagon, spouting opinions without any regard for the truth, all just to grab attention.

Wang Shuichimuqi.

Liang Qi.

”Liang Qi often used that name on her delivery slips. After I saw the name, I subconsciously checked the content on his Weibo,” Wang Youxian said. ”Just this morning, in the early hours, the account posted a lot of new content, mostly photos of Liang Qi. It also asked if everyone remembered this influencer and said that later today, it would expose the real reason why Liang Qi suddenly vanished from the internet.”

”The account also mentioned a ’Mr. Liu’ and ’Director W.’ Isn’t that talking about me and Liu Namo?”

”Someone knows what happened back then. Seeing that Liu Namo was dead, they were going to start exposing the past. So as soon as the surveillance was lifted, I ran.”

Su Miaoyi checked her phone.

She found Wang Shuichimuqi.

The account had indeed posted a lot of content in the early morning, including many photos of Liang Qi.

At that time, the police department should have been on their way to arrest Xu Yu.

Not long after the account was updated, it shot to the top of the trending list.

There were too many people jumping on the bandwagon with exposés, some real, some fake. Besides, at that point, they hadn’t yet focused on Liang Qi’s case, so they didn’t notice this account right away.

The account’s latest update was still from the early morning.

Zhuang Yanzheng had someone look into the exposé account, then asked, ”Were you involved in Liu Namo’s murder?”

Wang Youxian froze for a second, then his expression shifted to shock, panic, fear, and desperation. ”I—I didn’t! I didn’t! How could I possibly kill him?! I... He invested in so many of my shows, he was my golden goose! And the Liu Family is so powerful, how could I possibly kill him!”

”I, I... My career was going great. We never mentioned what happened to Liang Qi ever again. And while we weren’t exactly friends, any show I wanted to make, I just had to mention it and he’d invest. I could make any program I wanted. I didn’t have to suck up to anyone or grovel for investments. Why would I kill him? What good would killing him do me?”

Zhuang Yanzheng watched him.

”I really didn’t kill him.” Wang Youxian was so agitated he tried to lunge forward but was held back by the interrogation chair. ”Officer, I really didn’t kill Liu Namo, I swear I didn’t. When he died... I admit I didn’t feel particularly sad. I just thought I wouldn’t have such a generous investor anymore. But I’ve been in this industry for so many years and have some representative works, so my future wouldn’t be too bad. I really didn’t kill him, and I never even had such a thought.”
