I See Murders Before They Happen

Chapter 154: Chapter 152: Capturing Jiang Junrui

The Fengjiang Group’s parking garage.

They had scoured the entire garage, checking inside every single car, but there was no sign of Jiang Junrui.

The three cars that had sped out of the garage had all been intercepted.

The occupants looked a lot like Jiang Junrui, but none of them were him.

The garage and the perimeter of the Fengjiang Group building were cordoned off, controlling all entry and exit.

But how could a person just disappear like that?

Su Miaoyi and Lu Zhishen scanned the parking garage.

”When we rushed out of the elevators, we definitely saw Jiang Junrui get into a car from a distance,” Kang Ting said.

”It’s possible the car drove out of your line of sight before he got out,” Lu Zhishen said, looking around and even knocking on the walls.

Su Miaoyi’s eyes swept over her surroundings. After a moment, she walked toward a sign on the wall.

It was a large, blue-green sign, about three meters wide and two meters tall.

It showed a U-turn symbol.

Su Miaoyi walked up to it, put on a pair of gloves, and gave it a pull. The entire sign toppled over.

It wasn’t heavy, just large.

It wasn’t secured firmly, either; she’d barely used any force to make it fall.

It made a loud noise as it hit the ground.

Several people turned to look.

Kang Ting, Lu Zhishen, and the others immediately headed over.

Su Miaoyi stared at the door behind where the sign had been.

It was painted white, blending almost seamlessly with the wall.

But... perhaps because it had been opened recently, the seams were still fairly visible.

Kang Ting gave a hand signal, and everyone took positions on either side of the door.

Then he pressed his earpiece, relayed their position, and told the team outside to check the area directly above the garage.

If it was a passage to the outside, he could have already escaped through it.

But it was unclear where exactly the passage led.

The team was positioned on either side of the door.

Kang Ting tried pulling the door, but it wouldn’t budge.

Song Yucheng came over with a crowbar and pried it open.

The moment the door opened, there was no sound or movement from within. It was pitch-black; they couldn’t see or hear a thing.

But just as they were about to enter, gunshots suddenly rang out from inside.

The officers immediately fell back, narrowly avoiding the shots.

Right after, the people inside charged out.

Three of them.

Besides Jiang Junrui, one was He Yao’s killer, and the other was an unfamiliar face.

Everyone reacted instantly, diving for cover.

Gunfire erupted.

Su Miaoyi and Lu Zhishen both took cover behind a pillar.

Lu Zhishen chambered a round.

Su Miaoyi eyed the gun in his hand.

She wanted it.

Lu Zhishen glanced out from cover. As he pulled back, his gaze fell on her. ”No.”

Su Miaoyi: ”...”

She shot him a look. ”I didn’t ask.”

”Wouldn’t matter if you did,” Lu Zhishen said.

Su Miaoyi fell silent.

’Jiang Junrui and his two men... If they couldn’t get out the other end of the secret passage, their only option was to charge out. Otherwise, we’d find ways to force them out. And then they’d just be trapped in there, suffering.’

Lu Zhishen and Su Miaoyi peered out from the left and right sides of the pillar, respectively.

”There are only two of them. I don’t know where Jiang Junrui went,” Lu Zhishen said.

When the three of them rushed out and the shooting started, everyone dove for cover.

In that initial moment of chaos, Jiang Junrui must have hidden somewhere.

This place was full of pillars, and every parking space was occupied by a car.

Cover was everywhere.

And all of it blocked their line of sight.

The gunfire continued to echo, making her eardrums vibrate.

But amid the noise, Su Miaoyi heard the faint sound of approaching footsteps.

They were extremely faint.

Su Miaoyi grabbed Lu Zhishen’s arm.

Lu Zhishen looked at her.

Su Miaoyi gestured subtly in the direction of the footsteps.

Lu Zhishen understood immediately and nodded.

Su Miaoyi slipped behind a nearby car.

Lu Zhishen remained in place.

Half a minute later, Jiang Junrui’s gun appeared around the pillar.

Just as Lu Zhishen had moved to peek from the other side.

Seeing no one behind the pillar, Jiang Junrui froze for a second.

Then he heard footsteps behind him.

By the time he turned, Su Miaoyi was already on him.

Jiang Junrui, shocked, tried to raise his gun.

But it was too late.

Su Miaoyi grabbed his arm with both hands and yanked downward, making the gun clatter to the ground.

Jiang Junrui immediately tried to break free and fight back.

Su Miaoyi kicked the gun toward Lu Zhishen.

Lu Zhishen picked it up. Just as he was about to move in, he heard Su Miaoyi say, ”I don’t need any help.”

Jiang Junrui might have been a good businessman, but he was a terrible fighter—a far cry from Jiang Yaozu.

Su Miaoyi slammed him to the ground.

The gunfire from the other side of the garage had also ceased.

Jiang Junrui struggled.

Su Miaoyi pinned him down. ”Knew you couldn’t escape, so you thought you’d kill me before you got caught, is that it?”

Jiang Junrui struggled again. ”When you came to the Fengjiang Clubhouse last year, you were there to investigate, weren’t you? You fucking lied to me! You played me!”

Su Miaoyi slammed a fist into his shoulder blade.

The pain stole Jiang Junrui’s voice in an instant.

Su Miaoyi said, ”Are you wondering why I waited so long after Mo Xiaoxiao’s death to release that video?”

Jiang Junrui was in too much pain to speak.

”Did you really think I was interested in the Jiang family’s filthy business? That I wanted to make a deal with you?” Su Miaoyi struck him again. ”I just forgot what happened back then. I only recently remembered. And as for why I forgot... I have you to thank for that.”

Jiang Junrui squeezed his eyes shut in pain.

Su Miaoyi hit him again.

Lu Zhishen watched her.

He could feel the hatred radiating from her.

Hearing approaching footsteps, Su Miaoyi closed her eyes and took a deep breath. ”You and Mo Xiaoxiao... neither of you were good people.”

With that, she looked up at the person behind her.

Song Yucheng handed her a pair of handcuffs.

Su Miaoyi cuffed Jiang Junrui’s hands behind his back and stood up.

Lu Zhishen watched her.

Su Miaoyi stood there for a moment, then walked over and kicked Jiang Junrui.

’The real Su Miaoyi is still lying in a cold storage drawer in the Jinghai City Bureau’s morgue.

She came here for a nice vacation, and ended up dead.’

Su Miaoyi kicked him again.

Song Yucheng glanced at her but didn’t dare to say a word. He just hauled Jiang Junrui away.

Lu Zhishen cleared his throat and walked to her side. ”He’s not going to make it.”

Su Miaoyi nodded.

The two of them went to find Kang Ting.

Kang Ting was leading a team into the secret passage in the wall.

A few moments later, he emerged with his team.

And they had one extra person with them.

The person they brought out was terrified, his eyes red-rimmed and his body trembling nonstop.

”This is...” Su Miaoyi asked.

”Jiang Yaozu’s eldest son,” Lu Zhishen said.

Su Miaoyi nodded. She’d heard his eldest son was mentally handicapped.

”What’s it like in there?” Lu Zhishen asked.

”It was supposed to lead outside,” Kang Ting said, looking at the two of them. ”But there was a cave-in.”

”What?” Su Miaoyi asked in surprise.

”It collapsed. The path is blocked,” Kang Ting said, dusting off his hands. ”Looks like they tried digging through with their bare hands, but gave up when they realized it was impossible. They charged out as soon as we found the entrance.”

Su Miaoyi didn’t say anything.

’It really is just like the old saying goes...

When your time is up, there’s no escape. The road ahead will be nothing but dead ends...’
