Chapter 1179: Chapter 64: Risk of Failure

The Mechanical Girl tossed three marble-sized golden light spheres to Su Xiao. He caught them; these things were pretty heavy—together they weighed at least over 150 kilograms.

That kind of weight was nothing to Su Xiao, but the Mechanical Girl was just a Worker. Judging from how she’d moved before, these 150 kilos were nothing to her either.

”Sleep.”

The Mechanical Girl flopped onto a small bed. There was even a small quantum bomb placed at the head of the bed; she was literally going to sleep hugging a bomb.

”Oh right, pay up.”

The Mechanical Girl suddenly ”rose from the dead,” stretching a hand toward Su Xiao.

”I’m short on Paradise coins right now, so I’ll use this to cover the bill.”

Su Xiao pulled off the dark purple shoes on his feet and tossed them to the Mechanical Girl, then equipped the newly obtained ”Kinetic Combat Boots”. This thing had a bit of a mecha feel to it, but it wasn’t metal; it was made from some material between metal and leather. Su Xiao had no idea what exactly it was, but it was very comfortable to wear.

”You think I’m running a scrap recycling station or something?”

The Mechanical Girl glanced at the attributes of the dark purple shoes. The stats on the thing were pretty good; after all, it was gear Su Xiao had just replaced. The price would be between 150,000 and 200,000 Paradise coins—trading it for three Sources of Birth was fair. Besides, she didn’t need Sources of Birth; she couldn’t forge equipment. The main reason she smelted Gold gear was to get other Rare Materials.

Su Xiao left the Mechanical Girl’s messy ”kennel.” If not for her very obvious female traits, he would’ve suspected she was a man: slovenly, nerves of steel, completely careless, and never haggling with anyone.

Bang!

The iron door slammed shut. After Su Xiao left, the room was silent. A few seconds later, a white shirt and a little pair of panties were tossed into the air, and the Mechanical Girl sprawled out on the bed in a big X, drooling in her sleep.

Su Xiao walked through Reincarnation Paradise, thinking about how he could only upgrade the quality of the Demon Hunting Suit here in Reincarnation Paradise.

After returning to his exclusive room, Su Xiao entered the Alchemy Lab.

”Rent an equipment Forging Furnace.”

As soon as Su Xiao spoke, a prompt appeared.

[Please select the Tier of the Forging Furnace. S-level forging furnace: 400,000 Paradise coins/hour; A-level forging furnace: 80,000 Paradise coins/hour; B-level forging furnace: 10,000 Paradise coins/hour; C-level forging furnace: 2,000 Paradise coins/hour; D-level forging furnace: 300 Paradise coins/hour; E-level furnace: 40 Paradise coins/hour.]

If Su Xiao were a Contractor specialized in forging equipment, he’d have to buy a Forging Furnace. With rental prices this high, buying one directly from Reincarnation Paradise would be astronomical.

Almost no one could afford an S-level furnace, and hardly anyone rented one either. Same for an A-level furnace. In fact, a B-level furnace was already enough to forge Legendary Gear. After all, buying a B-level furnace from Reincarnation Paradise cost a full 1.6 million Paradise coins.

Su Xiao chose to rent a B-level forging furnace. For upgrading the Demon Hunting Suit, that quality of furnace was more than enough; anything higher would be a waste.

[12,000 Paradise coins have been paid. Forging Furnace mode: Simplified Operation Version.]

Space-time power surged, and a massive object was teleported into the Alchemy Lab.

Scorching heat waves spread out. The B-level forging furnace was at least five meters tall and ten meters wide. It looked like a precision machine tool. At its center was a high-temperature furnace, with cooling systems on both sides, and dozens of mechanical arms around it.

Vmm—

As the forging furnace began operating, it was like a mecha coming to life.

Su Xiao had absolutely no idea how to use this thing, so he forked out an extra 2,000 Paradise coins to rent the simplified operation version.

A virtual interface appeared in front of him, with hundreds of densely packed options—and this was the simplified version. If it were a standard forging furnace, the operating difficulty would be dozens of times higher.

Just from this forging furnace alone, you could see the status of Workers in Reincarnation Paradise. They might not be good at combat, but a small number of them were good at using this thing, allowing them to forge High-level gear.

Everyone had different talents. Reincarnation Paradise was cruel, sure, but it would never bury someone with real talent. It didn’t care about status or background, or whether you had some rich second-generation dad. All that mattered here was talent and guts.

Those with special talents became Workers; those with guts went to the Derivative Worlds to fight and kill, growing stronger through battle.

[Beep, furnace activated.]

[Mode selection complete: Auxiliary forging mode.]

[Forging type: Complete Smelting.]

[Detected that the ultimate goal of this operation is to upgrade equipment quality. Changing mode, auto-selecting.]

[Mode change complete. Current mode: Upgrade Auxiliary Mode.]

[Please insert the equipment to be upgraded and the materials required for the upgrade.]

With a soft hiss, a tray popped out of the forging furnace.

”This thing’s actually this smart.”

Su Xiao felt those 2,000 Paradise coins were well spent; he was completely clueless about how to operate this thing.

After hesitating for a moment, Su Xiao placed ”Judgment of the Wild Hunt”, Demon Hunting Proof, and Demon Hunter Ring on the tray, along with five Soul Crystal (Large) and three Sources of Birth.

[Confirm upgrade? Success chance for this upgrade: 76%.]

Seeing this prompt, Su Xiao’s cheek twitched. So there was actually a chance to fail in upgrading the Demon Hunting Suit, and the failure rate wasn’t low—24%.

The reason Su Xiao could gather the Demon Hunting Suit was, first, that he was lucky; second, that the suit only had three pieces; third, that he’d risked his life repeatedly to fight for it. After putting in so much, if he failed now, all his previous effort would go up in smoke, plus he’d lose five Soul Crystal (Large) + 192,000 Paradise coins.

Right now, the effects of the dark purple Demon Hunting Suit were as follows:

Set Effect 1: Demon Hunter (Passive), Power +15, Agility +10, Stamina +10 (cannot boost True Attributes).

Set Effect 2: Melee Expert (Passive), Close Combat Damage +40%, Maximum Life Value +20%.

Set Effect 3: Demon Hunting Spoils (Passive), in each battle, this battle will be judged as a Demon Hunting state. After killing an enemy, the spoils value will increase. When the spoils value reaches 100%, and...

The Demon Hunting Suit used to look very strong, but now, aside from the +40% Close Combat Damage and +20% Maximum Life Value, its attributes didn’t seem that impressive.

The reason it was called a Close Combat Dream Set wasn’t because of its set attributes while it was Dark Purple, but because of its set attributes after it was upgraded to a Gold Suit.

Before being upgraded to a Gold Suit, the Demon Hunting Suit was, at best, one of the strongest among Dark Purple Suits; it couldn’t really be called a Close Combat Dream Set.

However, upgrading the Demon Hunting Suit to a Gold Suit was no easy task. That nearly one-third failure chance was enough to make a lot of people back off. You had to know, if he sold the Dark Purple Demon Hunting Suit right now, he’d get an enormous sum. Back then, three Large Adventure Teams fought over a single Demon Hunter Ring, and Gulu of the Travel Group had been chased so hard he began to doubt life.

Su Xiao stood in front of the forging furnace and slapped his hand on the start button. He dared to wager his own life; would he flinch over a Demon Hunting Suit? So what if he failed? At worst, he’d just go look for it again, go rob it again. High failure rate? Don’t joke. When he inherited the Shadow of Annihilation Law, his success chance wasn’t high either—and back then, failure meant death.
