Chapter 1065: Chapter 67: The True Purpose

With a loud boom, rubble scattered, and smoke rose.

A long knife flew out from the smoke, extremely sharp, piercing into the ground effortlessly upon contact.

”Cough, cough, cough...”

A dry coughing sound emerged from within the dust.

Bang.

A muffled thud accompanied by a slightly aggrieved grunt came through; the sound was very much like A Mu.

According to physical phenomena, when swinging an ’object’, the damage is most severe on the outer parts.

Just a few seconds ago, A Mu grabbed Rose’s calf, swung her up, and slammed her hard onto the ground, while Bubu Wang bit onto Rose’s thigh, and Rose bit firmly onto Su Xiao’s palm.

Newton’s Second Law of Motion: The acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force acting upon it...

If A Mu was the central point, then Bubu Wang and Rose belonged to the inner ring, and Su Xiao was on the outer ring.

The smoke dissipated, Su Xiao sat in a concave pit on the wall, still hanging onto a girl.

”Huff, huff, huff...”

Heavy panting echoed, Su Xiao looked down to see Rose still biting his hand fiercely.

Su Xiao swung his right arm, and with a boom, his right arm crashed into the wall, along with Rose’s head.

While swinging his arm, Su Xiao forcibly controlled A Mu, who punched towards Rose’s head.

With a loud boom, Su Xiao’s entire right arm embedded into the wall; he pulled his arm out, exposing bite marks on both sides of his lower palm, piercing through the flesh, faintly showing the hand bone.

”Don’t think, only... you dare... to risk your life.”

A muffled voice from Rose came; she lay on the ground, completely exhausted.

Su Xiao’s state wasn’t good either, with only 26% Life Value remaining, a severely fractured left arm, three broken ribs, and possibly a broken collarbone too.

Rose’s strength was formidable, her Power Attribute even surpassed Su Xiao, and her Agility and Stamina Attributes definitely reached 80 points, which were True Attributes.

With such a powerful foundation combined with her desperate battle style and a recovery ability akin to a bug, her overall combat strength was indisputable.

Su Xiao had encountered many Contractors equipped with luxurious gear and decent Attributes, but none had combat strength like Rose. The reason was simple: those people viewed battles as work, never fighting to the death unless absolutely necessary.

Rose was different; from the start, she fought to the death, completely disregarding the gains and losses of death.

Su Xiao had met individuals like her, such as Gulu from the Travel Group, Mingmen Adventure Team Leader ’Sister Control’ Yan Chen from the Madman Concentration Camp, Xi from Enemy Paradise, Pibang from Demon Castle, etc.

The facts proved that mastering fear of death in combat could greatly increase the chance of victory.

After a few deep breaths while leaning against the wall, Su Xiao flipped over, sat astride Rose’s waist, and the Slaughter Dagger appeared in his hand.

”Hey, you...”

Rose realized Su Xiao was riding her back and intended to speak to him.

Thud, thud, thud...

Dollar blood splattered onto Su Xiao’s cheek, and the dagger repeatedly pierced into flesh; Su Xiao stabbed seven or eight times at Rose’s heart, neck, and vital spots. Although Rose was exhausted, he didn’t exchange any words; who knows if she was waiting for some ability to recover or secretly activating some item.

Beep...

An electronic sound appeared and quickly vanished without abnormality.

Su Xiao flopped onto the ground, lying above Rose’s corpse.

[Hint: You have killed Contractor No. 10854, due to being in a large open Derivative World, the drop rate of Scarlet Cards increased by 10%.]

[You have obtained a Scarlet Card (Third tier).]

...

Su Xiao lay on the ground, unwilling to move for now. Bubu Wang ran up and grabbed the Scarlet Card dropped by Rose.

Bubu Wang looked at Su Xiao, its expression seemingly saying, ”Master, this woman’s Scarlet Card, I must personally open.”

With a mouth swollen larger than a bowl, Bubu Wang raised his head. Seeing Bubu Wang’s current state, Su Xiao’s mouth twitched involuntarily.

Bubu Wang might not be aware of his current appearance; he held Rose’s Scarlet Card, took out his phone, apparently preparing to take a selfie for remembrance.

Yet, upon opening the front-facing camera, the Scarlet Card in Bubu Wang’s mouth plopped to the ground.

”Howl～”

Bubu Wang let out a long howl, slammed the phone on the ground, and crushed it with a paw. It looked angrily at Rose’s corpse, but upon realizing Rose was already dead, Bubu Wang just sat, sulking; it had no chance to settle the score, wouldn’t desecrate a corpse, after all, what kind of dog is Bubu Wang, it wouldn’t stoop to such a shameful act in this lifetime.

Silence enveloped the underground base, no more roaring sounds came, but Obito and others didn’t recklessly enter. The previous radiation waves were too terrifying.

Su Xiao rested on the ground for a while, then got up, somewhat restored to combat strength thanks to Bubu Wang’s Aura Recovery.

”Revenge? Just an excuse.”

Su Xiao took out a pack of cigarettes from Storage Space, drew one, and lit the blood-stained cigarette.

”Phew～”

Su Xiao exhaled a puff of smoke, blood dripping from his chin; if he guessed correctly, Rose wasn’t just here for revenge.

Indeed, a large part of Rose seeking out Su Xiao was revenge, her main goal, yet she also explicitly came for a fight with Su Xiao.

Whether wounded by Su Xiao’s slash, or by her fists landing on him, she smiled, a pure avenger would never show such a smile.

In Su Xiao’s view, Rose and those Other Shore Flower women were completely different; members of the Other Shore Flower fought for a purpose, while Rose accomplished goals incidentally through combat. Such a person would become very strong if alone, but if within an adventure group, other members would be apprehensive.

For instance: where Rose went to kill the enemy? Did she get carried away, forgetting the plan? Or would she provoke an adversary beyond fighting, leading to annihilation?

This series of issues meant Rose couldn’t stay long in an adventure group, unless someone could control her, but if truly restricted, she wouldn’t be Rose.

Rose has some fame within Reincarnation Paradise too; Contractors dubbed her Blood Dancer·Rose, but she often changed her aura, so few recognized her within Derivative Worlds.

Su Xiao hadn’t heard of Rose, and he didn’t care much for titles himself; Night of Beheading, who knows which Contractor thought of this title.

Just as Su Xiao planned to have A Mu clean up the battlefield, he inadvertently saw Rose’s two Demon Scythes.

The two scythes lay quietly on the ground, emitting golden light; seeing this golden light, Su Xiao paused, under normal circumstances, equipment wouldn’t show Quality after a Contractor dies, Attributes would be sealed, even if picked up, they couldn’t be stored in Storage Space, and would disappear in about half an hour.

Yet these Demon Scythes emitted dazzling golden light, clearly appearing as ownerless equipment.
