Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

White expanse of ceiling.

”Beep, beep, beep...”

The sound of beeping echoed in the ears.

This is a modern concurrent facility, judging by the equipment in the ward. Obviously, it’s a single room. The abundance of equipment indicates that the patient inside belongs to the category of those with relatively severe conditions.

A set of monitoring machines is placed nearby, with patches for monitoring body data connected to different colored cables, attached to Shi’s body.

Various data is displayed on the monitoring machine, along with wavy lines.

With the fluctuation, the sounds are refreshed.

Occasionally emitting steady and low beeping sounds.

The sound is neither harsh nor rushed, indicating that his body is still relatively safe.

”Excuse me, are you Mr. Shi in bed one?” A gentle voice from the nurse came to his ear.

Shi straightened his somewhat confused head and nodded. He seemed a bit drowsy.

Responded with a somewhat weak and low voice: ”Yes.”

”I’m your duty nurse, my name is...”

His thoughts drifted elsewhere, even though the nurse’s voice was in his ear.

He did not notice until the nurse left.

The area around the sickbed is slightly dim.

Suddenly, the door of the ward opened, Shi turned his head to look over, but the area around the bed was covered by blue curtains, making it slightly hard to see outside.”

Then the curtains were opened, and light shot in directly.

This is a private ward room.

A middle-aged woman was busy alone in the ward, opening the curtains and windows.

Then she brought over a lunch box, sat by the bedside, and carefully looked at the machine.

Then she looked at the situation beside her.

Picked up a long receipt from the foot of the bed.

Carefully checked the items listed on it.

The price was clearly marked behind each item.

Ranging from a few cents to thousands.

These were the expenses for the past few days.

The total amount reached almost tens of thousands.

”Thankfully it’s covered,” the woman mumbled twice, without much change in expression, casually stuffed the data sheet into her pocket.

Now she could independently calculate which parts could be covered and realized the actual amount to be paid was not so exorbitant.

Opened the lunch box.

”Son, how did you sleep last night?”

Shi turned his head to look at his mother.

His mom spoke while opening the lunch box.

”Pretty well, mom. But I think I dreamt.”

”Dreamt? Then how about using oxygen again tonight?”

”Forget it, it’s just a dream, mom. It’s not that serious.”

”What’s there to fear? Using oxygen isn’t expensive.”

”It’s not about cost; I still have the strength to breathe on my own.

Using too much oxygen makes breathing feel exhausting, that’s so strange.”

”Alright, alright, have something to eat.”

The middle-aged woman spoke, having opened the lunch box, there wasn’t anything fancy inside.

Even if he wanted to eat well, he couldn’t; there was only a bowl of porridge, but it emitted a faint fish aroma.

Visible fish pieces and shrimp in the porridge.

Below was a bowl of sweet fish soup.

Carp flavor.

”I’ll do it myself.”

”Fine, do it yourself, be careful it’s hot.”

She said as she handed over the spoon and bowl.

Shi received the bowl and spoon, his hand still showing bluish-purple pinholes; the entire hand was slightly withered.

Both the backs of his hands had indwelling needles; there was even one on his arm.

To avoid having to reinsert the IV every time.

Seeing her son’s somewhat withered, wrinkled hand, the elderly woman silently turned her head, stood up, walked a few steps, and came back.

”Is it tasty?”

”It’s good; eating something makes me feel much better.”

After finishing, the woman was tidying up when the door opened.

A doctor in a white coat with a young intern behind walked in, looked at Shi, and smiled.

Then asked a few questions, recorded them in his notebook, and walked out, calling to the woman at the door.

”Come here, we need your help with something.”

Mom nodded, placed the tidied lunch box on the bedside cabinet, wiped her hands, and walked out.

Shi lay on the bed, still somewhat weak.

This is a private ward room; the corridor outside isn’t too noisy.

Yet he could hear the sound outside the door, not loud but incredibly clear.

Is the soundproofing of the hospital this poor?

”Would you like to consider taking him home? Staying here every day is too costly; he’s almost ready to go home.

At times like this, patients generally prefer being at home; it’s better for their mindset too.”

”Doctor, I understand, but my son, he...”

”Sigh, let him stay home for a while; it’s uncomfortable staying in the hospital, don’t you agree?”

”Alright, then... let’s go home.”

”No problem, you can go and handle the discharge procedures in a bit; don’t worry about those for now, just make sure he takes his meds.

Let him rest and, if he wants to play, take him out, but not too far.”

Diet-wise, nothing needs to be strictly controlled; eating good food for nutrition is also a good thing.

Of course, avoid greasy, overly spicy, and stimulating foods.”

The doctor in front was expressing his meaning as delicately as possible.

Mom just nodded, her face didn’t show overt sadness.

This was already an established fact, the sadness had long been exhausted.

Sighing, she pushed the door open calmly and came back in.

”Mom, are we going home?”
