Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

The yellow pus and dark-green, thick liquid splattered, the foul-smelling mixture sliding from the corner of Juanlu’s mouth.

”Ugh... Mmm.”

Nauseated to the point of dry heaving, Juanlu still did his best to swallow the contents of his mouth. He had lost his sense of taste; his brain was blocking the sensation. His eyes appeared dull and numb, yet they revealed a fierce determination.

”HMPH!” An angry snort escaped his nostrils.

Chewing and swallowing, again and again.

Before him lay the skeleton of the boar monster, its flesh stripped clean. It hadn’t even reappeared in the surrounding swamp; it was as if it had vanished into thin air, disappearing into Juanlu’s stomach.

Without this flesh, the boar monster could hardly be revived. Each revival was less complete than before, lacking some of its flesh.

Meanwhile, the Energy from the meat rapidly restored the Magic Power in Juanlu’s body, but this came at the cost of mental torment and the desecration of his taste buds.

Juanlu felt he was now nothing more than a scavenging monster.

When he stuffed the last strip of rotten meat into his mouth and swallowed it, he then wiped his mouth forcefully.

”Ugh...”

After another dry heave, the weapon in his hand ignited with fierce flames. The blaze shot upwards like a torch, illuminating the entire swamp.

With both hands raised high, he smashed down hard.

The boar skeleton, which had shakily risen, was shattered once more.

This time, even as the surrounding swamp mud converged, it failed to revive the creature. All that remained was the skeleton; the rotten flesh on it had been entirely consumed and digested by Juanlu, transformed into strength.

Juanlu panted heavily. The sound of his breathing was harsh, each gasp carrying a hint of anger.

”Are you angry?”

A tall, fat man, over two meters in height with an exceptionally stout build that appeared to be mostly fat, materialized before Juanlu. From his attire, it was evident he was an instructor.

He looked at Juanlu with a broad smile and asked.

Juanlu merely glared at him. ”I used to have some respect for you. Now, I just want to say... you should count yourself lucky you can’t leave the Hall of Trial.”

”So you know about the Hall of Trial. That bigmouth must have told you, haha! Anyway, how are you feeling?” The stout man asked with a laugh, unfazed by Juanlu’s harsh words.

”All I want now is to use Purifying Water to rip out my intestines and wash them thoroughly! No, not just the intestines—everything!”

”Haha, how about thinking of something cheerful? For example, you’ve successfully passed the trial challenge, demonstrated your drive to improve, and you’re about to receive your reward. How about that? Happy?” the instructor said with a laugh.

He stepped forward as if to pat Juanlu’s shoulder but then stopped. Pinching his nose, he frowned and said, ”Oh! You really stink!”

”You... Hmph! And whose fault do you think that is?”

This remark almost made Juanlu explode with anger, but he stubbornly held it back. Compared to what he had just endured, this seemed insignificant.

”Oh, don’t be so angry. You should be able to feel the changes in your body. Shouldn’t you be thanking me?” The instructor patted his own obese belly, the fat rippling like waves as he spoke with feigned confusion.

Upon hearing this, Juanlu sat down on a nearby rotting log, staring at the instructor.

”Of course, I feel it! I just think what I just went through wasn’t worth it for this kind of change. Remember, not worth it at all!”

Juanlu said, glancing at the surroundings, ”What are you waiting for? Make this damned place disappear!”

”Alright, alright, don’t be angry. This place really does stink, though,” the instructor said, waving his hand indifferently.

The surroundings faded, and they found themselves back on the central platform that led to all other areas.

”So, tell me, what was the purpose of that last stage?” Juanlu could feel the changes within his body; his once-dormant bloodline had awakened. Yet, he still didn’t understand the purpose of that final trial.

The instructor stood beside him, watching him before speaking. ”You have the bloodline of the Gluttonous Demon. Though it’s unclear why a human would possess such a thing, you do. It’s already begun to manifest, albeit just a little. If it’s properly stimulated, it could greatly aid you.”

”So that last stage was just to help me activate this bloodline?”

”Of course, not just that. Activating your bloodline doesn’t actually require something so disgusting and arduous; a minor Difficulty would have sufficed. But for you to meet the standards of the Tower of Trial, for it to determine that you possess the will to advance and have surpassed your former self, it had to be that repulsive.”

Hearing this, Juanlu irritably scratched his head. ”If ’advancing and surpassing’ just means I’m now more capable of stomaching disgusting food than before, then yes, that’s certainly been achieved.”

”You’ve surpassed more than just that... You’ll know later.”

The instructor glanced at him but didn’t elaborate.

”What is this Gluttonous Demon? And why do I have its bloodline?” Juanlu asked, confused.

”I don’t know. I’m puzzled myself,” the instructor said, spreading his hands. He genuinely found it strange.

”In the era I lived, the Gluttonous Demon was an infamous divine monster. Most creatures possessing its bloodline were various monsters and beasts; there’s no record of it ever appearing in humans.”
