Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 603: Chapter 284: Advantages/Disadvantages/Future

The skeleton fell to the ground and turned into ashes.

The flying knives originally embedded in him, from which a large pile of bone spikes now protruded, also fell down. Alka walked over and picked them up.

He examined them carefully.

”I didn’t expect it to have such a miraculous effect at this moment.”

This was the attack method Akka had just conceived on a sudden whim.

He hadn’t anticipated it would cause such severe damage to a skeleton—a creature of bone.

The numerous protruding bone spikes had wedged into the gaps of the skeleton, completely immobilizing its upper body.

Otherwise, he would have had to expend even more effort on this level.

「The environment changed again.」

Alka returned to the hall.

The number on the door in front of him now displayed the symbol for five.

Looking at the symbol on the door, Alka pondered, Should I continue to the next level for the trial?

According to his estimations, the enemy on the next level should have reached 18 Spiral, while he himself was only at 14 Spiral.

If this were outside, Alka might feel he had a chance to defeat opponents of a higher level.

But after the battles on these few levels, Alka discovered that every enemy here also possessed the ability to fight opponents of a higher level.

Their combination of Spells and attack techniques was exceptionally well-suited for them.

Fortunately, Alka’s only solace was that the enemies here didn’t possess any Treasures.

If any of these enemies possessed a Treasure, he wouldn’t stand a chance.

Even though the Spell effects displayed by the skeleton he had just faced were already top-tier, resembling Spells derived from a Treasure, ultimately, that wasn’t as potent as actually possessing a Treasure.

The Spell mastered by that skeleton, combined with its attack methods, could have killed even someone possessing a Treasure if they weren’t careful.

After thinking it over, Alka decided to continue to the next level.

After all, he himself had mastered two Treasures. Even if he anticipated that the enemy on the next level would undoubtedly be a type specifically targeting him, it should be manageable as long as they didn’t possess a Treasure, and he would still have a certain chance of victory.

Moreover, if he truly faced a life-threatening situation, he could leave by admitting defeat.

With this in mind, Alka forcefully pushed open the door.

Once his condition was restored to Perfection, Alka stepped inside.

The scene before him wasn’t an unfavorable situation, contrary to what Alka had imagined.

It was just a circular stone platform, its edge enclosed by railings. Unlike an arena, it was more like a training ground.

In front of him stood a middle-aged man wearing form-fitting gray clothing.

His facial expression and features were very ordinary; you wouldn’t notice him in a crowd.

He stood there with his hands clasped behind his back, looking at Alka.

When Alka turned his attention to him, the man nodded slightly.

”Hello, Trial Taker,” the man said. ”I am the instructor of this Tower of Trial. I will be your next opponent.”

Alka furrowed his brow. He can speak? Communicate? Why did those previous enemies show no signs of being able to communicate? Why the sudden change on this level?

”Why can you communicate?” Alka asked. ”Is this level different from the others?”

Faced with Alka’s question, the middle-aged man, who called himself an instructor, was very patient.

He said, ”Because this level represents the limit of what your current strength can handle. The previous levels were all beneath your capabilities.”

”If you couldn’t even clear levels beneath your strength, then there would naturally be no need for an instructor to help you adjust your combat methods.”

”And if you do pass, the tower will assess your previous combat style to determine if an instructor is needed to help you refine your methods and better master your power.”

”I see. Thank you for your explanation,” Alka said, nodding after listening.

So, it seems this is the real training ground, he thought. The true Tower of Trial. A place to break through one’s limits and strive for improvement, and not just independently—the Tower of Trial itself offers assistance.

”You’re welcome,” the instructor in front of him said, looking at Alka. ”Do you define yourself as a ranged Caster? A Deceiver?”

Alka nodded; that was indeed how he saw himself. He also used simulated transformations to cover more aspects of combat.

Seeing Alka nod, the instructor shook his head.

”Then your performance hasn’t been very good, if merely evading attacks is what you consider to be the work of a Deceiver.”

His words made Alka feel rather embarrassed on the spot.

Because the instructor was right. Alka’s favorite tactic in combat was to create distance and then attack, or switch to his Dream Death God form for close-quarters combat.

That wasn’t the problem. The issue was the complete lack of any real deception in his tactics.

His only truly deceptive maneuvers involved the Mirror Maze and its coordination with the Realm of Passage.

The instructor said no more. Instead, he raised his hand and beckoned to Alka.

”Attack me. Show me your greatest strength.”

Is he looking down on me that much? Alka thought.

Since the instructor had said as much, Alka decided not to hold back, especially since this was the Land of Trial.

Without hesitation, he initiated his attack with Mirror Surface.

A maze constructed of mirrors instantly enveloped the entire stone platform.

The instructor simply stood within the maze.

”Does this consume a lot of Magic Power?”

”Not much,” Alka’s voice replied, seeming to come from all directions.
