Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

It seemed like a lot, but for Alka, who possessed the Mirror Surface, this level of consumption was acceptable.

Hearing this, the instructor said no more. He stood still and closed his eyes.

”The Mirror Surface is imbued with a Spell to block detection, hmm... but it’s too crude,” the instructor commented. ”The Mirror Maze is merely used to deceive vision, correct? But that’s not effective against many creatures, is it? And what if the enemy you face doesn’t rely on sight?”

A card formed from Mirror Surface traced an arc from a rear corner, flying toward the instructor.

A tiny Magic Bullet, the size of a fingertip, shot out and struck the card precisely. Beyond its speed, this Magic Bullet had no other commendable qualities. Upon striking the card, it instantly tilted, lost most of its kinetic energy, and fluttered to the ground.

More cards flew in from all directions. These cards didn’t fly in straight lines but rather in various arcs, appearing impossible to defend against.

”A multi-angled attack with erratic trajectories,” the instructor mused. ”Quite effective against a single enemy. This technique is commendable.”

Faced with such an attack, the instructor abandoned the idea of hitting them all with Magic Bullets. He raised his hand and swung it forcefully. Magic Power scattered.

A strange phenomenon occurred. All the cards suddenly wavered in mid-air as if swept by a fierce gust of wind, losing their original trajectories and veering off in various directions.

”Using Magic Power to vibrate the air—low cost and easy to learn,” the instructor stated. ”If one knows a few wind-related Spells, this move is even easier to counter. Too many weaknesses.”

He praised Alka’s attack, then immediately followed with criticism. He pointed out both its strengths and weaknesses.

Then, a Magic Bullet appeared in his hand, its magical path inscribed with an unknown, crude Spell. He tossed it out gently. The projectile, carrying the Spell, soared high into the sky and then instantly shot toward Alka’s hiding place. The moment it homed in on him, it suddenly accelerated, smashing fiercely toward Alka.

Fortunately, Alka had remained vigilant and rolled sideways, dodging the attack.

”A very simple Guiding Spell,” the instructor remarked. ”Even a child could learn it.”

Alka silently retorted. Children from thirty thousand years ago are different from today’s children.

Then, the instructor spread his hands, and several Magic Bullets condensed, floating above his head. They then rapidly shot toward Alka’s location. They were so densely packed they formed a continuous line. This forced Alka to navigate through Mirrors for quick evasion.

”Surely there’s a better solution?” the instructor questioned. ”Why insist on traversing? Doesn’t such evasion consume a lot of Magic Power?”

The instructor’s various questions were designed to disrupt Alka’s train of thought.

To be honest, Alka agreed with him. But his words clearly aren’t affecting my concentration. The pressure isn’t intense enough. There is indeed a better way, if calculating by Magic Power consumption. Whether it’s summoning Mirrors to block, or transforming into the Dream Death God to blink. Both would consume slightly less Magic Power than traversing through Mirrors.

”Use your pink mist,” the instructor advised. ”It can affect the operation of other Magic Power; it just requires slightly finer control.”

Clearly, what the instructor meant and what Alka understood were quite different.

The instructor, still speaking with his eyes closed, sensed Alka’s position through some method Alka couldn’t comprehend. The Magic Bullets he had launched into the sky, under his control, accurately found Alka’s position and attacked relentlessly.

Alka followed his instruction, dispersing a large amount of pink mist. After the mist spread, all the Magic Bullets slowed down—an inherent function of the pink mist.

”Have you ever considered the true essence of your pink mist’s power?” he asked, while Alka continued to control the mist, trying to obstruct the incoming Magic Bullets. As the mist slowed the Magic Bullets, he could dodge them more easily where he stood. This crude manipulation of the mist, however, made the instructor shake his head slightly. Too unrefined.

”As one of the Dream Kings, your control over dream mist is this crude?” the instructor continued. ”It seems you acquired your status through some special opportunity. You’d better work hard, or you’ll bring disgrace upon all Dream Kings.”

These words instantly made Alka feel even more awkward; it was an undeniable fact. He could only respond to the instructor’s earlier question.

”It’s sleep... the Dream Realm,” Alka answered while dodging.

”No. I mean its true essence.”

”Spirit.”

”Correct. All your Magic Power has completely transformed into spiritual attributes. You are a natural trickster. So why... do you seem to possess no spirit-related attacks or Spells whatsoever?”

Immense curiosity could be heard in the instructor’s voice.

Alka fell silent.

He couldn’t very well admit that it was only in the last ten-odd days, after becoming a member of the Dream God Race and a Dream Realm King, that he had realized the true nature of his Magic Power’s transformation. Previously, he hadn’t paid much attention to the essence of the pink mist’s power, merely considering it some ability derived from the Dream Catcher. It was only about ten-odd days ago that he discovered something seemed off. The pink mist from the Dream Catcher and the pink mist produced after his Magic Power’s assimilation were entirely different. Both essentially possessed a spiritual nature, because the Dream Realm is a world of spirit. He had only come to this realization through the authority granted to him as one of the Dream Kings and his bloodline as a member of the Dream God Race.
