From Arsenal to the Ball God

”Go, go, go!!”

”Crush them!”

Everyone’s morale was boosted, and Captain Van Persie quickly stood up, clapping and encouraging, ”Every team faces challenges and problems, but a championship team is one that gets through the tough times and solves all the problems!

”Make it to the English League Cup final, take down Manchester United at the end of the month! This month we’re pushing forward on all fronts! Go for it!”

Another round of enthusiastic applause erupted, with many people looking at Vice-Captain Ma’el, seemingly expecting him to say something.

Ma’el’s fighting spirit was also stirred, and he stood up and said, ”The championship phase has arrived, make it through this month, and in February, we officially launch our final assault for glory!

”This is our best season yet, and as long as we play well this season, next season we’ll have opportunities for even more, go for it!!”

”Vamos...!”

”Come on...!”

The weather is still chilly, but today a few rays of sunshine managed to shine through the window, and winter sunlight always seems brighter, almost more vibrant than summer.

...

January 24th, Emirates Stadium, the second leg of the English League Cup semi-final showdown is about to kick off, a crucial match for both teams.

Liverpool has been struggling in the league this season, constantly striving to be in the top four, and winning the League Cup would provide a good rapport with their fans.

Arsenal has been performing well in the league, boasting two top-notch strikers—undefeated in the Premier League so far this season—but they also hope to achieve something in other competitions!

Especially being one step away from the championship, who would choose to give up at this point?

”This is a battle between ambition and redemption! Neither team has been in great form in recent seasons, Arsenal seems luckier, landing a superstar striker like Ma’el this season!

”But Liverpool is also on the road to resurgence, with Copa America winner Suarez providing this team with a different kind of competitiveness!

”Let’s look at the starting lineups, for the visiting team Liverpool, Reina remains the Goalkeeper, the defense line from left to right is Glen Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Martin Kelly!

”Four Midfield players are in a parallel position, Tang Ning, Henderson, Gerrard, Charlie Adam!

”The two Forwards are Kuyt paired with Suarez! Clearly, they are ambitious on the offensive today.

”As for Arsenal.....”

”The two teams met once in January, with Arsenal drawing 2-2 at Anfield, having the advantage of two away goals.

”Therefore, Dalglish’s team needs to ensure they score more than twice at Emirates Stadium, then they stand a good chance of winning!”

In the player corridor, Ma’el stood behind Szczeny, holding hands with a mascot, glancing to his left, where he saw Suarez, whom he’d met in Zurich.

The opponent didn’t win any awards, but because he won both the Copa America and the Golden Boot last year, his Golden Ball Award ranking was slightly higher than Ma’el’s.

Ma’el’s current stats are excellent, so he was somewhat dissatisfied with this, and he’s keen to see the Uruguayan Forward’s current form in this match.

”Beep, beep!”

A whistle sounded as the players walked onto the fiery pitch, where they heard the passionate calls from the stands.

”Arsenal...Arsenal...!”

”Liverpool...Liverpool...!”

The fans of both teams haven’t started singing yet; they’re merely chanting the team names to amplify their presence, which, although simple, the sheer number of people makes it incredibly stirring, causing goosebumps for everyone present.

Ma’el looked up towards the stands, where some Arsenal fans raised banners.

——”Final! Championship!”

——”We need the championship!”

——”End 7 years without a title!”

They candidly expressed their thirst for victory, a sincere emotion that gives Ma’el stronger motivation.

Since he’s playing for this team, accompanied by these fans through many impressive performances, he also wants to fulfill their aspirations!

”Beep!”

At 4 PM, the match kicked off at Emirates Stadium. The next 90 minutes will determine who earns a spot in the English League Cup final!

Moreover, whichever of these two teams progresses to the final clearly has a strong hope of winning the trophy.

Simultaneously in the upper bracket semi-final, the matchup is between mid-lower Premier League team Crystal Palace and Championship dark horse team Cardiff City.

These two teams seem unlikely to pose a significant challenge to Arsenal and Liverpool... but if they reach the final, one must not underestimate them, as getting this far demonstrates real skill and an intense fighting spirit.

”Bang bang!”

”Bang!”

From the start, Liverpool continuously used long direct passes and long-range switches to accelerate the pace, trying to take the initiative with offense instead of defense.

The two teams are old rivals, very familiar with each other, you could say there are no secrets.

In such matches, it depends on which side has the better form and seizes the lead first.

”Back off a bit!”

Arteta called for Rosicky on the other side to pull back; leave the attack to the three Forwards, their goal was to intercept the ball in the middle and backfield and then pass it out for a transition attack.

”Snap...crunch!”

With their hard-fought defense, Liverpool’s fast-paced offense didn’t manage to pose much threat initially.

In the 7th minute, Arsenal got the first chance, Arteta intercepted the ball and delivered a long pass to Walcott on the other side.

After Walcott received the ball, he began his breakthrough against Glen Johnson, the attacking wingback quickly succumbed, was devoured in a burst, and conceded his defensive position.
