Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 640: Chapter 640: Scrubbed So Hard the Skin Came Off

”The day before they return home.” He had already made up his mind, ”We’ll go in the morning, climb the waterfall at sunset, and the next day I’ll take you out for some barbecue. We’ve got all the equipment anyway.”

”How have you become so nice all of a sudden?” She was very happy.

”I’ve always been this nice.” Finn Morgan smiled, ”You just hadn’t noticed.”

Hailey Hale chuckled; she was really happy, ”I can finally stay in a cabin for a night. Is Barbara Sutton going?”

”What’s she going for?” Finn Morgan glanced over, ”I didn’t plan on bringing her. This isn’t a company perk; it’s a perk for you.”

”Alright then.” Hearing this, she felt a warmth within for no apparent reason, then retracted her gaze and continued watching her show.

As the car was nearing Celestial Heights, Finn Morgan said to her, ”You head back first. I have to go handle something and will be back soon.”

”What is it?” she instinctively asked.

He replied, ”Work-related.”

”Oh, okay.”

He dropped her off downstairs, watched her walk into the building, and then left.

Back at the apartment, the acrophobic Hailey Hale never dared to stand by the window and look down.

She walked into the master bedroom and saw his clothes from yesterday’s shower on the sofa, forgotten to be put in the washing machine?

Considering he was injured, she picked up the clothes and headed to the washing machine.

Skillfully plugging it in, she put the clothes into the drum, added two laundry tabs, and pressed the button. But the machine didn’t budge – not even water was entering?

”Is it broken?” she wondered, checking it unprofessionally, and tried pressing the start button again, but the machine still didn’t respond.

Hailey Hale pondered, found a basin, pulled out the clothes, and filled it with hot water. She started scrubbing the clothes by hand.

Hailey Hale wasn’t very hands-on; at home, the maid did the laundry. She had never even hung clothes herself.

With too many laundry tabs added, the basin was full of suds.

She washed them once, then rinsed multiple times... Her fingers were a bit wrinkly from soaking in the water for too long.

Wringing out the clothes, she hung them on a hanger.

The front door opened as Finn Morgan returned.

Hailey Hale was just feeling some pain in her fingers. She looked down carefully, ”Oh no, I’ve scraped some skin off!”

”What happened to you?” He walked over to her quickly and saw her fingers were red; looking closer, he noticed she had scraped some skin off!

Glancing up at the dripping clothes she had just hung, he grabbed her by the wrist and led her to sit on the sofa.

Hailey Hale watched him quickly take out the first aid kit and open a band-aid at lightning speed.

Her gaze stayed on him the whole time. Although he didn’t say a word, he seemed really anxious.

She dumbly watched him place the band-aid on her, his fingers looked so nice – clear knuckles, slender and fair. The gentle touch stirred her heartstrings, causing a slight warmth in her chest.

”Does it hurt?” Finn Morgan asked, looking up after applying the band-aid. ”Did you wash it by hand?”

”The washing machine’s broken...” She saw his furrowed brows and pressed her lips together.

”So how many times did you wash it to get your hands scraped?” Finn Morgan was quite curious.

”Ten... maybe more times?” She pulled her hand back and sighed, ”I put in too many laundry tabs, there were bubbles everywhere, and I had no experience the first time.”

Finn Morgan found it amusing yet felt sorry for her; seeing her that way, he couldn’t bear to say more.

He adjusted the drying rack and tugged at the freshly hung clothes a bit so they wouldn’t wrinkle after drying.

Hailey Hale felt a faint sense of defeat; she couldn’t even hang clothes properly.

Finn Morgan then went into the study and didn’t come out for a while; she assumed he was busy with work.

She sat down on the sofa, picked up her phone to watch her series, without using headphones.

At the desk, Finn Morgan vaguely heard some sounds, furrowing his brow slightly, and got up to peek outside. Is she watching her show again?

He especially didn’t want to see her giggling at Anton Miller!
