Hijacking the Timeline

Feng Qi sat up from the sofa, rubbing his slightly groggy head.

After a long moment, he stood up, picked up his phone from the coffee table, and dialed Wei Wei’s number.

The call connected after a brief wait.

He spoke into the phone, ”Sister Wei, a brand-new timeline has begun.”

”Understood,” Wei Wei replied calmly from the other end, indicating her awareness of the situation.

After hanging up, Feng Qi rose, went to the wardrobe, changed his clothes, and left the dormitory.

His next steps were clear. Unless unforeseen circumstances arose, he simply needed to follow the established plan.

Now that the Future Line had been activated, he decided to head straight to the Scarlet Research Institute.

As for Mu Qing, Liu Yue, and the others, he wasn’t in a rush to deal with them.

The most critical task was to determine whether a spiritual faith connection could be established and whether he could acquire his other self’s innate ability.

If he couldn’t obtain that ability, the battle line would have to be shifted to an alternative path.

Perhaps he was about to follow the Dawn Battle Group path, and revealing the truth to Mu Qing and the others beforehand might affect the subsequent planning for this Sacrifice Line.

After leaving the dormitory, he headed straight for the academy’s main gate.

To visit the Scarlet Research Institute, he would definitely need to request a long leave, but only Bai Fusheng had the authority to approve such requests.

However, it was already past midnight, and calling to request a leave at this hour would be inappropriate.

He decided to go to the Scarlet Research Institute first and contact Bai Fusheng by phone tomorrow.

As a faculty member, he had unrestricted access to the academy and didn’t need to worry about being stopped by security at the gate.

But he could already imagine Bai Fusheng’s furious reaction when he received his leave request tomorrow, especially since he had just given his assurance the previous day.

With this in mind, he began to strategize his explanation.

To get Old Bai to accept his leave request in good spirits, he needed to provide a reason that would please him.

As he pondered, a plausible explanation quickly came to mind:

Collaborating with the Scarlet Research Institute to conduct research on cultivation techniques!

He could then have the Scarlet Institute Director call Old Bai to further solidify the credibility of his excuse.

Half an hour later, he arrived at the academy’s main gate.

After verifying his identity with security personnel, he stepped outside and waited for the Scarlet Special Vehicle to arrive.

He still harbored some doubts about whether the Miracle Bracelet could establish a mental connection across time and space.

Even Wei Wei in the Reality Line had been unable to prove this through experiments. Only his Sacrifice Line self could personally test its capabilities.

Yet, considering the other miracle items’ extraordinary functions that defied common sense, he remained cautiously optimistic.

After a long wait, a military vehicle bearing the Scarlet Research Institute’s insignia slowly approached and stopped at the institute’s entrance.

The driver was a burly, fully armed soldier from the Scarlet Auxiliary Regiment.

He greeted Feng Qi before pressing a button to open the car door.

Once Feng Qi was inside, the Scarlet Special Vehicle turned around and sped toward Scarlet Base.

It was three in the morning.

Feng Qi arrived at the Scarlet Research Institute and followed Wei Wei to Training Room 1.

This training room had been specially prepared for him by the Scarlet Research Institute, equipped with the most advanced training equipment and various body data monitoring devices.

In one corner stood an expensive healing pod, used for recovery after high-intensity training.

Feng Qi was no stranger to this environment.

In each Sacrifice Line, before seizing the opportune moment to depart, he would undergo rigorous physical training here.

However, this time, a half-meter-tall jade statue had been added to the southern corner of Training Room 1.

This statue was the jade divine statue meticulously crafted for him by the Scarlet Research Institute and Wei Wei. Inside the statue was a crystal stone containing a mixture of his essence blood and mental power.

Following Wei Wei to stand before the statue, she turned to face him and asked:

”Can you do it?”

Hearing this, Feng Qi replied with a hint of helplessness:

”I’ll try. Making oneself one’s own faith... that sounds like something only an extreme narcissist could pull off.”

”Should I step aside?” Wei Wei asked with a teasing smile.

”No need. Kneeling is just a formality, and I don’t require such formalities.”

With that, Feng Qi sat down before his jade statue.

Gazing at the statue—one hand holding a sword, the other cradling a book—he began to focus his mind, attempting to cultivate faith.

But after a moment of intense concentration, he couldn’t help but shake his head.

The sensation felt utterly bizarre, persistently awkward, and utterly incapable of genuine devotion.

Reluctant to give up, he tried again.

As time passed, Feng Qi repeatedly failed.

After yet another failed attempt, he shook his head in frustration.

Just then, Wei Wei, standing beside him, placed a hand on his shoulder.

”Remember what I told you before? The essence of faith can also be unwavering trust. That’s how my faith was established. Try thinking about all the efforts you made across the Sacrifice Lines.”

After a moment’s pause, Wei Wei continued, ”In truth, your faith in yourself could simply be your unwavering commitment to saving the world. The other you embodies the ideals of us all. There’s no need to artificially deify him. All you need is to cultivate trust with the pure emotions in your heart.”

Hearing these words, Feng Qi’s heart underwent a subtle shift.

While it remained difficult for him to worship another version of himself, he had never doubted the other Feng Qi’s unwavering determination to save the world.

The collective efforts across multiple timelines were rooted in his unwavering belief that the other Feng Qi would ultimately succeed.

The sacrifices made in the Sacrifice Line served to pave the way for the other Feng Qi’s triumph.

Wei Wei’s words brought sudden clarity to his mind, instantly dispelling the lingering unease in his heart.

Taking a deep breath, he gazed at the jade statue.

Memories from countless timelines flashed through his mind, along with the dying blessings from the Sacrifice Line.

His faith grew even stronger.

He believed the other Feng Qi would succeed, ultimately leading humanity to a glorious golden age.

As his emotions shifted, so did the way he looked at the jade statue.

An inexplicable power began to stir within him.

Sacrifice, dedication, selflessness, ideals... each emotion carried a resolute conviction, a conviction that could be called faith.

This faith had nothing to do with divine worship; it was a purer, more selfless form, devoid of any expectation of reward.

It was simply a selfless blessing and unwavering hope.

Wisps of spiritual light slowly coalesced within his sea of consciousness, gradually growing brighter.

At that moment, he seemed to see a golden ocean.

A preliminary mental connection was quietly established, and a steadfast trust miraculously bridged space and time, received by the Miracle Bracelet.

Finally, he sensed the presence of his other self.

But the other him appeared to be in a deep slumber. His sea of consciousness was utterly silent, a stark contrast to its usual turbulent state.
