Hijacking the Timeline

This led him to believe that Wei Wei had likely established her faith connection with him using a similar method.

With this in mind, he immediately asked:

”Sister Wei, how exactly did you manage to do it?”

In response to his question, Wei Wei replied:

”The process wasn’t actually that complicated. I spent several days reviewing the records you left behind from previous timelines, especially the messages I had left for you in each timeline. Gradually, my mindset began to shift.”

”This feeling is extraordinary. Reading the messages I left for you across different timelines, I sensed the faith that my counterparts in the Sacrifice Lines had in you, just as they had told you... You are the goal of my life’s work, carrying all my hopes and visions.”

”This faith differs from divine faith. It lacks fear, doubt, and other complex emotions, consisting only of unwavering conviction and persistence. I never imagined such an emotion could establish a spiritual connection between us.”

”Now it seems the essence of faith isn’t solely reverence and fear. The most crucial elements are steadfast trust and affirmation—these too are forms of faith.”

Hearing Wei Wei’s analysis, Feng Qi felt enlightened.

I have to admit, the old woman is remarkable. No matter the task, she can dissect the problem to its root and find the answer. With such an ally, how could I ever fail to realize my dream of saving the world?

Even the Narrator offered genuine praise at this moment.

With the faith connection established, Feng Qi left the room after their discussion and went to Wei Wei’s door.

After knocking and waiting a few seconds, the door opened.

Wei Wei appeared at the doorway in loose pajamas, her curvaceous figure radiating an irresistible allure.

”Come in,” she said. ”Next, we’ll test how to transfer power.”

Feng Qi nodded immediately and followed Wei Wei into the room, settling onto the sofa.

How to transmit one’s power to a believer with an established faith connection—or, more accurately, how to lend one’s power to a believer—was merely a conjecture proposed by the Lord of the Mist during his research into the power of faith.

Whether it was even possible remained entirely unknown.

More importantly, even if it succeeded in the Real World, it might fail in the Sacrifice Line.

After all, power transfer in the Reality Line faced no temporal or spatial barriers.

But in the Sacrifice Line, there was a gap of 1,500 years.

It would be akin to his future self, 1,500 years from now, transferring power to his past self from 1,500 years ago—a monumental leap across time.

Yet every journey of ten thousand miles begins with a single step. With each step forward, Feng Qi held onto hope.

He and Wei Wei began discussing methods for power transfer.

During their discussion, the Narrator offered a potentially viable approach:

Try bringing the talent ability orb into contact with the faint glow of Wei Wei’s spiritual connection within your sea of consciousness. Attempt to establish a link.

To confirm the feasibility of this approach, Feng Qi returned to his sea of consciousness.

Standing before the Source Orb’s orbit, he plucked the Malevolence talent orb from its path and delivered it to Wei Wei’s spiritual medium within his sea of consciousness—the golden glimmering light.

He slowly pushed the Malevolence talent orb toward Wei Wei’s spiritual medium.

When the Malevolence talent orb made contact with Wei Wei’s golden glimmer, the imagined fusion failed to occur. Wei Wei herself showed no signs of physical change.

The initial attempt having failed, Feng Qi fell into deep thought once more.

At this critical moment, the Narrator’s voice chimed in with a suggestion:

Why not try reversing the process?

”What do you mean? Reverse the process?”

In your previous attempt, you removed the Malevolence talent orb from its orbit. This is akin to taking the batteries out of a remote control and handing the remote to the old woman to operate. Essentially, the Malevolence talent orb remained inactive.

Perhaps you should try placing the Malevolence talent orb back into its orbit and then sending Wei Wei’s spiritual medium into the pearl itself... As for whether she can then control the Malevolence talent orb, I can’t say for sure.

Heeding the Narrator’s suggestion, Feng Qi acted decisively.

Reaching the orbit of the Source Orb, he gently pushed the Malevolence talent orb back into its rotational path.

Upon contact with the orbit, the Malevolence talent orb began circling the gold-red Source Orb, simultaneously rotating on its own axis.

Following the Narrator’s instructions, he enveloped the faint glow of Wei Wei’s spiritual medium with his consciousness and slowly guided it toward the Malevolence talent orb.

Then, an astonishing sight unfolded.

The glow of Wei Wei’s spiritual medium gradually merged into the Malevolence talent orb.

At that moment, he opened his eyes and looked at Wei Wei, who wore an equally astonished expression.

”Sister Wei, how do you feel now?”

”There’s a power constantly surging into my mind. It feels incredible—like I’ve gained a special ability. It’s so natural, like I’ve always possessed it. There’s no sense of unfamiliarity.”

”I sent your spiritual medium into the Malevolence talent orb. It’s now granting you telekinesis. I’ve already explained the details of this ability to you. Try to control it now.”

Feng Qi spoke with anticipation.

Wei Wei nodded slightly, then extended her right hand and gently pointed at a glass cup across the room.

The expected sight of the cup floating in mid-air didn’t materialize. Feng Qi also failed to detect any telekinetic waves emanating from Wei Wei.

Wei Wei decided to try again, focusing intently as she made stabbing motions at the glass cup on the bedside table.

But no matter how hard she concentrated, the cup remained motionless.

After several more attempts, Wei Wei gave up and turned to Feng Qi.

”I think I know what the problem is,” she said.

”Our faith connection is still too weak. It’s like a dam with a spillway only the size of a finger. Even if the dam is overflowing with water, only a trickle can pass through such a small opening into me. We need to strengthen our connection.”

”But it’s not a major issue. Now that the faith connection has been established, deepening it shouldn’t be a problem.”

Feng Qi agreed with Wei Wei’s analysis.

He had come to the same conclusion while she was trying.

As Wei Wei said, all they needed to do now was continuously strengthen their faith connection, widening the trickle into a channel. Borrowing power would then become much easier.

To test this approach, Wei Wei began focusing on deepening their faith connection over the next few days.

The method was simple: to imagine his presence with unwavering faith and conviction.

During this process, Wei Wei’s whispers frequently echoed in Feng Qi’s mind.

Feng Qi found himself in an unenviable predicament.

Wei Wei’s defining trait was her unwavering dedication to any task she set her mind to.

Especially when immersed in scientific research, she would often work for days without sleep, making all-nighters a regular occurrence.

As a result, Feng Qi was frequently roused from his slumber by Wei Wei’s soft murmurs.

Yet Feng Qi believed there must be a solution to this problem.

Otherwise, deities with millions or even tens of millions of followers would surely be driven mad by the constant cacophony of prayers echoing in their minds.

He couldn’t even begin to imagine such a scenario.

Millions upon millions of voices whispering incessantly, day and night, in one’s mind—it would be sheer mental torture.

With this thought, he couldn’t help but ask:

”A’Bai, how do you think deities who collect faith manage this problem?”

It’s simple. The deity would shout in their mind: ”All you believers with open mics, please mute yourselves! And you, the one with the ear-splitting voice—mute yourself or I’ll smite you into oblivion!”
