Hijacking the Timeline

On the ninth day after returning to the Scarlet Research Institute, Feng Qi arrived at Wei Wei’s private laboratory early in the morning.

As he pushed open the door, he saw Wei Wei, clad in her Scarlet uniform, staring intently at the surgical table. Two scalpels hovered shakily in the air under her gaze.

Suddenly, Wei Wei sighed in frustration. The scalpels, freed from her telekinetic grip, clattered onto the surgical table with a metallic clang.

”Impressive!” Feng Qi exclaimed sincerely.

”Not bad, but my control over telekinesis is nowhere near as advanced as you described. The mental connection still needs significant strengthening,” Wei Wei replied, turning to him with a faint smile. ”Still, this ability is quite intriguing. I’m very interested in exploring it further.”

After settling down on one side of the private laboratory, the two began discussing the mechanics of power transfer.

Through Wei Wei’s explanation, Feng Qi learned that the power she had gained from him was more akin to borrowing the characteristics of his ability rather than receiving a direct infusion of his primal power.

For example, Wei Wei had acquired the ability of telekinesis, but using it consumed her own mental energy, not his. She wasn’t directly drawing on his primal power to manipulate objects.

It was like lending a car with an empty tank to a follower. To drive it, the follower would need to refuel it themselves, as the vehicle wouldn’t move without fuel.

Feng Qi wasn’t surprised by this.

If it were a simple transfer of raw power, even a God with millions or tens of millions of followers could have their primal power drained in an instant.

Therefore, borrowing the characteristics of power was the most logical way to share it.

This aligned with how power sharing was often depicted in novels, manga, and films.

Whether it was missionaries or mages in fantasy worlds, their incantations invariably involved invoking a deity to heed their call, followed by a flurry of mystical babble before unleashing power—yet the energy expended came from their own mana reserves.

Now that the feasibility of mental connections and the transmission of power characteristics had been proven, many questions remained unanswered.

Three primary issues stood out:

First, even with a mental connection established, his counterpart on the Sacrifice Line didn’t know how to actively acquire innate abilities.

Wei Wei’s telekinesis had been obtained by Feng Qi personally guiding her spiritual glimmer into the Malevolence talent orb. The Sacrifice Line counterpart, however, hadn’t received the same treatment.

It was highly probable that when the mental connection was established, Feng Qi was still in a chaotic, unconscious state—perhaps even still traversing time, yet to arrive in the future world 1500 years ahead.

Too many variables clouded the situation.

This question couldn’t be answered accurately until he truly activated the Sacrifice Line.

Secondly, even if he solved the first problem, some abilities, even those he gained access to in the Sacrifice Line, he wouldn’t dare use lightly.

For example, his most powerful trump card: ”Blood Source.”

Activating this ability would completely drain his qi blood, granting him an explosive surge in combat power.

In the Real World, using this ability carried no consequences for him.

Even with his qi blood completely depleted, he could continue to survive in his bone man form. As long as he absorbed enough qi blood afterward, he could replenish the deficit and revert to his human form.

But in the Sacrifice Line, doing so would likely result in instant death the moment the Blood Source Form ended.

After all, the Sacrifice Line version of himself was just an ordinary human, lacking any special traits. Flesh and blood were his foundation for survival.

Therefore, the trump card ”Blood Source” seemed only usable as a desperate gamble in life-or-death situations. Using it under normal circumstances would be suicidal.

He did have an idea about how to potentially solve this problem.

For instance, he could lend the primal power of the golden-crimson orb to his Sacrifice Line counterpart.

This would allow the Sacrifice Line version to freely switch between his Battle Body and human forms, eliminating the worry about qi blood depletion.

However, he had no concrete ideas on how to implement this.

The third challenge was how to enable the Sacrifice Line to wield multiple innate abilities simultaneously.

Wei Wei had gained telekinesis through the Malevolence Talent by having her spiritual glimmer sent into the Malevolence talent orb. However, she could only master a single ability, making it impossible to access others.

Therefore, figuring out how the Sacrifice Line could master multiple innate abilities while maintaining a mental connection with him remained a significant hurdle.

Wei Wei proposed a potentially viable solution.

She theorized that as their mental connection strengthened, she might be able to perceive his sea of consciousness.

If she could truly perceive his sea of consciousness, she could then independently manipulate her spiritual glimmer to select and enter the desired talent ability orbs without his direct assistance.

The Narrator, however, offered a contrasting perspective.

The Narrator argued that the spiritual world instinctively repels external forces, making it extremely difficult to freely merge with other talent ability orbs without his intervention.

For instance, when facing an enemy wielding mental attack techniques, the spiritual world would automatically activate its defenses—an innate defense mechanism at the spiritual level.

The stronger one’s mental power, the more robust this automatic defense would be.

The Narrator suspected there might be exceptions.

After all, spiritual glimmer—the medium of faith—originated from believers. It was inherently incapable of harboring hostility toward the deity it represented. Perhaps a believer’s medium could gain recognition within the deity’s sea of consciousness, allowing it to move freely within that mental realm.

The precise outcome remained to be verified by Wei Wei through further experimentation.

At this stage, Wei Wei struggled even to control her Malevolence Talent. The gap between her current abilities and the ability to manipulate spiritual glimmer freely within a deity’s sea of consciousness was considerable.

Nevertheless, Wei Wei’s progress in mastering her Malevolence Talent was undeniably rapid.
