Hijacking the Timeline

In the following days, Feng Qi spent most of his time moving between the library, his dormitory, and the Academy Cafeteria, except during class hours.

With only two days remaining until the Tiger Soul Concept Competition, he remained remarkably calm.

After all, the championship was already a foregone conclusion.

Originally, the Tiger Soul Concept Competition was designed for classes to participate as units, encouraging collective brainstorming. Students were tasked with proposing a novel cultivation system concept and explaining its feasibility. If the concept was approved by the Tiger Soul Research Institute, it would be incorporated into the next major update of the cultivation system and refined by the institute’s researchers.

However, Feng Qi had already perfected the theoretical framework of Human Body Deity Seeding. Students merely needed to study his work and reiterate his process during the competition.

It was essentially entering the competition with the winning answer in hand.

Therefore, he had no doubt he would secure the eight million prize.

One morning, after waking up and having breakfast at the Academy Cafeteria, Feng Qi headed straight for the academy gates.

The sun blazed overhead, its intense heat distorting the air into shimmering waves.

Following the path along the lake in front of the dormitory buildings, he reached the main avenue lined with statues of legendary figures. After another ten-minute walk, he arrived at the academy gates.

Before he could even reach the academy gate, a burly security guard in uniform blocked his path.

”Students are not permitted to leave during Intensive Training. Do you have a special permit?”

Hearing this, Feng Qi smiled and replied, ”Sir, I’m a teacher, not a student.”

The security guard was visibly taken aback, seemingly skeptical that someone as young as Feng Qi could be a teacher at the academy. He said, ”Let’s verify your identity.”

Feng Qi nodded immediately and stepped up to the identity verification device at the gate.

A green light scanned his iris and facial features, confirming his identity. The screen above the device displayed Feng Qi’s information, with ”Substitute Teacher” listed under ”Position.”

”My apologies, it’s my duty,” the security guard said, immediately granting him passage after confirming his identity.

”No problem, thanks for your hard work,” Feng Qi grinned, stepping through the academy gate and pulling out his phone.

After a brief wait, his pre-booked vehicle slowly pulled up.

After confirming the details, the vehicle smoothly headed toward Star City Sports and Culture Plaza.

The driver, a middle-aged man, was quite talkative throughout the journey, his words filled with longing for the academy life.

He lamented that if he hadn’t fallen short by just three or four hundred points on the 700-point total score, he could have attended Star City Academy himself.

Chatting idly along the way, the car pulled up at the south entrance of the Sports and Culture Plaza.

With the automatic payment processed, Feng Qi stepped out of the vehicle and strode directly into the plaza.

Today was a day for decisive action.

As ”The Butterfly,” he was ready to flap his wings and deliver a resounding slap to those three brats, thereby removing a major obstacle blocking humanity’s path to resurgence.

The database recorded the founding date and location of the Destiny Association, but not the exact time. Feng Qi decided to stake out the plaza from dawn until the three brats appeared.

He walked along the granite-paved path, lined with lush greenery.

With no tall buildings obstructing the view, the azure sky stretched overhead, the expansive vista lifting his spirits.

Even at this early hour, the plaza was already bustling with activity.

People were playing chess, exercising on outdoor equipment, jogging... The pace of life here was far slower than at Star City Academy, yet it carried a sense of leisurely contentment.

His gaze swept across the scene, and he noticed many figures with physical disabilities.

Most of those active here were veterans who had retired from the front lines.

They had once been domain warriors fighting at the forefront of the Domain Invasion, but after being classified as severely disabled, they were left with little choice but to spend the rest of their lives in this manner.

Once you’ve committed to becoming a front-line warrior, it’s exceedingly rare to see a good end.

On the long and arduous path of resisting the Domain Invasion, countless warriors had fallen within the domains, their families left with only cenotaphs to honor them.

As Feng Qi reflected on this, he arrived at the center of the plaza.

There stood a memorial monument over ten meters tall, its surface engraved with countless names.

It was these heroic martyrs, fighting alongside their comrades, who had forged an iron wall that repelled the Domain Field’s invasion and saved Star City from falling.

One could say that Star City itself had been built upon the blood, flesh, and bones of these martyrs.

The city’s residents firmly believed that the spirits of these heroes still guarded Star City, silently watching its growth and rise, and sharing their hopes for ultimate victory.

After bowing respectfully before the monument, Feng Qi turned his gaze toward the horizon.

Uncertain when the ”brat” would arrive or when the Destiny Association’s founding meeting would be convened, he could only wander aimlessly through the plaza.

As the sun climbed higher, the air grew stiflingly hot.

But for Feng Qi, whose physical endurance had been repeatedly enhanced in the Dream Realm, the heat posed no discomfort. Not even a bead of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Strolling through Culture Plaza, he occasionally paused to watch the goldfish in the artificial lake or strolled along the cobblestone paths, admiring the lush greenery and vibrant flowers.

The taut string in his mind finally loosened.

As he waited, the scorching sun climbed to its zenith, making the air stiflingly hot.

By now, the elderly folks had dispersed, leaving him the only one still wandering through Culture Plaza.

Like a hunter stalking prey, he remained vigilant.

Since The Butterfly hadn’t made its move, he couldn’t leave yet. He had no choice but to continue waiting.

The wait stretched through most of the day.

The blinding sun gradually tilted westward, transforming into a crimson orb that painted the sky a fiery red.

Finally, in a corner of the plaza’s lawn, he spotted three teenagers sitting on the ground, snacking.

To avoid ”collateral damage,” he took a roundabout route, positioning himself behind a sycamore tree to eavesdrop on their conversation.

A slightly chubby boy munched on potato chips, nodding in agreement.

”I think you’re right,” he said. ”Resources should be concentrated in the hands of us elites. We’re the ones who drive civilization forward. The current social system is too biased toward those useless people. If we consolidate these resources, we can create far greater value.”

Hearing this, the boy eating an ice cream cone hesitated.

”But my father says everyone is equal, regardless of status. History is full of heroes who rose from humble beginnings, accumulating knowledge and experience bit by bit until they became the legends we remember. If we followed your plan, wouldn’t we be cutting off the paths for ordinary people to rise?”

Hearing this, the third boy with glasses immediately shook his head in rebuttal:

”Your father’s thinking is outdated. I’ve been studying recent statistical data, and the probability of a commoner becoming a hero is far lower than that of someone from a wealthy family. Since that’s the case, we should concentrate all resources on us elites. That way, the number of talented individuals will increase.”

Feng Qi, who was eavesdropping behind a sycamore tree, felt a vein throbbing on his forehead.

He couldn’t fathom where these brats had picked up such twisted logic.

When one’s values are still forming, repeated exposure to distorted information can lead them to believe it’s the truth.

And such beliefs only solidify further as they spread within small groups.

After another round of warped arguments, one of the boys stood up:

”In that case, let’s establish the Destiny Association right here, right now! Our goal is to change this unfair society and its unjust systems until the day all resources are concentrated in the hands of us elites!”

By this point, Feng Qi was certain.

The Destiny Association of the future would be founded by these three brats. By now, Feng Qi had reached his breaking point.

The Butterfly’s massive slap was already primed and ready.

With this thought, he immediately stepped out from behind the phoenix tree and confronted the three youths.

The boys were visibly startled by his sudden appearance.

After glancing back at the phoenix tree, the leader of the group asked with a puzzled expression:

”Do you want to join too?”

”Join your granddaddy’s ass! Education is supposed to teach you reason, honor, and humility—to cultivate self-restraint, strict self-discipline, and generosity towards others. It’s not meant to make you think you’re superior just because you’re descended from the elite class, know a few more words, or understand a bit of knowledge. Stop acting so smug and self-satisfied!”

As he spoke, Feng Qi grabbed the leader by the collar, yanked down his pants, and delivered a brutal spanking. He showed no mercy despite the boy’s desperate struggles.

In truth, the future growth and development of the Destiny Association had little to do with these three youths.

They were merely early instigators. But once a trend takes hold, it can rapidly snowball.

Just like the plot of the film The Wave, what began as a simulated experiment eventually spiraled out of control. The transformation of ideological beliefs can be terrifying.

The behavior of these three boys was no different.

Therefore, Feng Qi’s mission now was to nip this potential threat in the bud—to prevent disaster before it struck.

Seeing their companion getting a brutal beating, the other two boys froze, torn between conflicting emotions.

Running away would be cowardly, but staying meant they might be next.

As they hesitated, Feng Qi released the leader, whose buttocks were now swollen and crimson.

The Butterfly’s palm stretched toward the second boy.

In the end, none of the three escaped their turn. They took turns enduring the beating.

They tried to resist, but their efforts were futile against Feng Qi, only earning them a worse beating.

Finally, one of the boys broke down, wailing uncontrollably.

But Feng Qi showed no mercy. The Butterfly’s palm continued to strike, stirring up waves in the long river of history.

”Still want to form your Destiny Association?”

The three boys, sobbing, shook their heads frantically, completely surrendering.

”I’m giving you a chance to redeem yourselves. Spend more time reading history books to deepen your cultural understanding. Then you’ll realize how foolish you’ve been. If I ever catch you trying to form that ridiculous Destiny Association again, the next punishment won’t be so mild.”

Watching the three boys nod obediently, Feng Qi’s anger subsided. He glared at them one last time before turning and walking away.

After Feng Qi had walked away, they continued sobbing for quite some time before finally calming down.

Feeling the burning pain in their buttocks, their faces were filled with despair.

Even now, they were still dazed, unsure of Feng Qi’s true identity.

They even suspected he was just a violent maniac who happened to pass by, took a dislike to them, and used some flimsy excuse to beat them senseless.

”We can’t give up,” the tear-streaked leader of the group sobbed. ”The harder it gets, the more we have to persevere.”

Hearing this, the other two boys turned to look at him.

”Next time, we’ll change the location and time. How could he possibly find us again?”

The other two boys hesitated for a long moment before finally nodding in agreement.

”Let’s go home first.”

Under the setting sun, the three boys limped away, supporting each other, their sobs growing fainter as they disappeared into the distance.

This day was destined to be etched in their memories forever.
