Hijacking the Timeline

The Blood Moon hung high in the sky, casting an eerie crimson glow as a chilling wind howled through the desolate landscape.

For miles, the ground was littered with bleached bones, piled into towering mountains.

Gazing upon this deathly silent future world, Feng Qi couldn’t help but sigh.

Everything remained unchanged. Perhaps history had undergone cataclysmic shifts, but ultimately, Human Civilization had still failed to escape the Domain Field’s suffocating embrace.

As he lamented, Little Cripple slowly rose from the ground and performed a split right there and then.

Feng Qi: ...

”After all these visits, you’re still crippled?” he asked Little Cripple, his tone tinged with exasperation.

With that, he stepped forward and sent Little Cripple’s head flying several meters with a swift kick.

Regaining his composure, Feng Qi smiled and called out, ”Narrator, I’m back! I brought oranges.”

The stench woke me from my slumber. Just as I suspected, you bastard is here again. Now I’m forced to work overtime.

Feng Qi: ...

”Go back to sleep. I’ll call you if I need anything.”

After greeting the Narrator, he strode eastward.

Each time he entered the Dream Realm, accessing the underground shelter’s database remained his top priority.

The living dead and death worms he encountered along the way posed no threat, allowing him to explore unimpeded.

This time, the terrain within the Dream Realm had shifted again. After more than half an hour of searching, he finally located the Black Metal Stele above the Star City Shelter.

Standing before the stele, he bit his finger and dripped a drop of foul-smelling black blood into the blood groove.

After a moment, an electronic voice announced, and the black stele slid to the right, revealing a metal passage leading to the shelter.

Before entering the passage, he tried to pull the black stele, which appeared to be made of an unknown material, in an attempt to seal the entrance.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard he strained, the stele remained immovable.

Don’t waste your energy. Maybe you could gather some dry bones and branches to cover the entrance. That way, little black won’t be able to see it.

Startled by the Narrator’s suggestion, he asked, ”Would that even work?”

Of course not! Little black tracks you like it’s got auto-navigation turned on. Don’t you have any self-awareness? Hiding the entrance? Why don’t you just hide yourself and see if little black can still find you?

Feng Qi suppressed the urge to challenge the Narrator to a duel and stepped into the metal corridor.

As he walked, the fluorescent tubes overhead flickered to life one by one, illuminating his path.

He had never understood how this abandoned underground shelter’s power system could still function normally without any maintenance.

But his curiosity was fleeting; he had no intention of investigating further.

After all, more pressing matters awaited him.

In this Dream Realm, the underground plaza was even more expansive, with a greater number of iron gates lining its perimeter. The only constant remained the database and control console at the center of the plaza.

Approaching the console, he wiped away the thick layer of dust and pressed the red power button.

The screen flickered to life, displaying a cascade of scrolling characters before settling on a menu:

Looking at the list of options, he first clicked on the search bar and typed in his name.

After a few seconds, detailed information appeared:

Feng Qi (Human Traitor)

Lifespan: 26 years

Cause of Death: Public execution at Star City First Execution Ground

Date of Death: May 17, 2031

Lifetime Achievements (Honors): S-Class Outstanding Graduate of Star City Academy (Revoked), A-Class Human Elite Medal (Revoked), Outstanding Contribution to Human Development Award (Revoked), ...

Research Achievements: Cultivation Exercises Version 2.0, Fierce Tiger Fist, Body Tempering Art, Heaven and Earth Meditation, Soul Seizing, Founder of the Human Body Deity Seeding concept, Participant in the Version 3.76 update of the cultivation system.

Evaluation: In his early years, Feng Qi was hailed as a prodigy, possessing cultivation talents that surpassed all others. The world placed great hopes on him, even considering him the most likely candidate to pioneer a new cultivation system and become the era’s guiding star. During that time, even the most brilliant geniuses paled in comparison to his brilliance.

After turning eighteen, Feng Qi’s talent not only failed to develop further, but his creative wellspring of cultivation techniques dried up, plunging him into a period of stagnation.

During this time, Feng Qi underwent a complete transformation. He recruited students, personally founded the Dawn Organization, which wreaked havoc on the world, and orchestrated a series of secret operations to hinder the progress of Human Civilization. Fortunately, his schemes were discovered in time, and on May 17, 2031, he was publicly executed at the Star City First Execution Ground, broadcast live as a warning to others.

Online comments:

Black as Night: A twisted piece of trash! Just because he couldn’t develop new cultivation techniques, he developed a desire to take revenge on society. If I hadn’t been born in a different era, I would have been there to applaud his beheading. Now, all I can do is type ”666” on his execution video. Still not satisfying enough.

Road to Nowhere: A scourge etched in history. Born human, yet he never considered striving for humanity’s rise. Instead, during his period of despair, he conceived the idea of World Destruction. I don’t know what Feng Qi was thinking back then, but his actions deserve the label ”trash.”

In my opinion, after reviewing historical records, I suspect Feng Qi was possessed. The man he once was shone brightly, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to humanity’s rise. During that time, he developed numerous cultivation techniques that would profoundly impact future generations and participated in the early design of the cultivation system’s updates. Logically, someone like him should have become a historical hero.

Yet he suddenly transformed into a completely different person, losing his former talent and secretly recruiting students to form ”Dawn,” with the goal of destroying the world. I genuinely suspect Feng Qi was possessed by a domain creature.

Momentum: If not for Feng Qi, Mu Qing would never have betrayed humanity. The seeds of this catastrophe were sown on the day of Feng Qi’s death. I watched a historical YouTuber’s explanation, and he stated unequivocally that Mu Qing’s betrayal was directly linked to Feng Qi, citing numerous pieces of evidence. If you’re interested, you can check it out—the explanation is very detailed.

After reading the Future People’s assessment of himself, Feng Qi fell silent.

He couldn’t understand why, despite knowing there was a werewolf among his students, his future self had repeated the same mistake, once again being branded a traitor to humanity by the world.

Had he failed to identify the werewolf among his students?

Filled with doubt, he clicked on the execution video attached to the document.

The execution site remained the Star City First Execution Ground, and the executioners were still personnel from the Star City Military Department.

To save time, he fast-forwarded through the video.

The execution unfolded similarly to the previous one. Just as the executioner’s blade was about to fall, Mu Qing arrived with members of the Dawn Domain Battle Group, attempting to rescue him.

During the confrontation, Mu Qing even clashed with the Star City Military Department personnel, nearly sparking a large-scale conflict. Fortunately, his future self intervened in time to prevent it.

In the final scene, Mu Qing, trembling, carried his corpse away from the surveillance camera, step by step.

After watching this, Feng Qi remained silent for a long time before finally closing the execution video.

Opening the search bar, he began searching for the historical content creator’s video analyzing Mu Qing, as mentioned in the online comments.

He strongly disagreed with the claim that Mu Qing had betrayed humanity because of him.

While he might have been important to Mu Qing, they shared the same dream. Mu Qing knew perfectly well what his dying wish had been. How could she betray their shared oath and turn her blade against humanity?

He was deeply curious about the historical UP主 the netizens were talking about. Where did they get the evidence to claim Mu Qing had betrayed humanity and that he was involved?

After searching through the database, he finally found the Mu Qing interpretation video the netizens had mentioned.

A Demon King nailed to the pillar of historical infamy actually possessed a gentle side you never knew.

Welcome to my historical analysis!

Today, we’ll be examining Mu Qing, history’s most brutal Great Demon King.

When you hear the name Mu Qing, you probably think of the phrases adults use to scare children.

The common perception of Mu Qing is one of cruelty, cold-heartedness, bloodlust, and all the other adjectives typically associated with villains.

But if you delve into history, you’ll discover that even the Great Demon King had a hidden side. Let me reveal another facet of Mu Qing’s character.

There are many interpretations of why Mu Qing betrayed humanity.

Some say her innate cruelty, rooted in the loss of her family, had long planted the seeds of her desire to destroy humanity.

Others claim that Mu Qing’s hatred for humanity stemmed from the rune augment project, which ultimately drove her to seek world destruction.

There are many other theories, but I want to share what I believe to be the most compelling reason for Mu Qing’s betrayal of humanity.

I believe the primary cause lies in her closest friend from Star City Academy, Feng Qi.

Before you dismiss this, please hear me out.

After Mu Qing’s secret execution, military personnel discovered a diary while organizing her belongings.

This diary was initially classified, but after 300 years, it was declassified, allowing me to glimpse another side of Mu Qing.

It was through this diary that I understood Feng Qi’s profound importance to her.

I’ve extracted a few key passages for you:

Diary Entry:

If I had never seen the light, I could have endured the darkness.

A cool wind blows from the horizon. It has been 3,214 days since you left.

Throughout these three thousand-plus days and nights, I have repeatedly dreamt of you kneeling before the execution block, your face etched with despair. I wake each time with tears streaming down my face.

More than once, I have regretted not rescuing you from the execution ground, even if it meant you would hate me for it.

I know the memories of you will never fade in this lifetime. You were a ray of light that pierced my heart, showing me how beautiful true brightness could be.

Your presence changed me, but your death left an unhealable wound in my soul.

I’ve seen the truth and proven in my heart that you were right, though I never doubted you.

Only by enduring the long night can we see the dawn. Let’s call it dawn, then.

I suddenly remembered something you once said: ”To die heroically for a grand dream is the height of foolishness. To live humbly and endure for the sake of that dream is the choice of the wise.” I’ve taken this step. Does that make me the most foolish kind of person? Ha ha.

I have already foreseen my failure. My end will inevitably mirror yours. Yet I believe the march of revolutionaries will never cease, and new versions of us will emerge in the future.

A tribute to the future, and to you, who tirelessly fought for an idealized world.

Seeing these objects evokes memories of you. But when longing coalesces into an overwhelming sea, it becomes a torment.

During my spare time, I composed a new melody, which I titled ”Yearning Across Time and Space.”

Today, I placed my harmonica in your grave, never to touch it again. From now on, I will face the challenges of the world, continuing to fight for your dream and for my own.

This is an era of farewells. People are constantly leaving, but I’ve never been good at goodbyes. I simply keep you all in my heart, especially you.

I never understood why people placed their hopes in those ethereal deities, knowing they didn’t exist and couldn’t change reality. Later, I realized that when despair and helplessness overwhelm us, even a single spark piercing the darkness can warm the entire world... and you were once my faith.

I’ve already lost everything. Nothing can hurt me anymore. I am stronger now than ever before. Even if the world fears me like a Demon King, my resolve remains unshaken. I will not rest until my goals are achieved.

I’m injured, it hurts terribly, but a good meal will heal me quickly. Suddenly, I remembered the days we used to eat together at the Academy Cafeteria. I remember you saying that after graduation, I’d be too broke to buy food and wouldn’t be able to support myself.

Though I didn’t show it at the time, I tossed and turned in bed all night, unable to sleep, worrying about it.

The next morning, I mustered my courage and made a decision: if I ever truly faced starvation, I’d come find you and mooch off your meals.

Pride can be swallowed, but hunger cannot be ignored.

I’m facing my final battle. Before I go, I’ve decided to eat my fill. It’s been so long since I’ve indulged in a proper feast. Heh, I might be dying soon.

I didn’t die. Tomorrow, I’ll eat my fill again before the fight. I hope you’ve already made a fortune in the afterlife so I can come mooch meals off you. You know how big my appetite is, heh.

After reading these excerpts from the diary, you must now understand Feng Qi’s importance to Mu Qing.

The ”revolution” Mu Qing spoke of was World Destruction. She chose to become the world’s enemy without hesitation, all to continue Feng Qi’s unfinished mission.

While reading the diary, I couldn’t help but wonder: if Feng Qi’s goal had been to save the world, would Mu Qing have relentlessly fought for that cause, upholding his beliefs?

Given Mu Qing’s capabilities, she would undoubtedly have had a profound impact on the future. It’s truly a great loss.

Finally, let me share a rumor about Mu Qing.

It’s said that after Feng Qi’s death, Mu Qing buried him somewhere within Star City. Every year, she would secretly sneak into the city to visit his grave, spending a day there.

She would sit before his tombstone, playing ”Yearning Across Time and Space,” the song she wrote for him, on her flute, and offer a single flower.

I believe that in these moments, stripped of her brutal facade, Mu Qing revealed her true self.

Now, let’s discuss Mu Qing’s feelings for Feng Qi.

After reviewing historical records, I believe their relationship was complex—more than friendship but not quite lovers, a pure connection.

It’s impossible to verify what Feng Qi truly thought of Mu Qing.

However, Mu Qing’s feelings for Feng Qi seemed more like a deep attachment than romantic love.

Feng Qi was Mu Qing’s safe harbor. No matter how fierce the storm raged outside, with thunder and lightning tearing through the sky, she felt at peace whenever he was by her side.

A passage from Mu Qing’s diary captures this perfectly:

I never understood why people placed their hopes in those ethereal deities, knowing they didn’t exist and couldn’t change reality. But later, I realized that when despair and helplessness overwhelm you, even a single spark of light piercing through the darkness can warm the entire world... and you were once my faith.

At this point, you might find it hard to believe.

In truth, I was deeply moved after reading her diary.

It’s unimaginable that the Great Demon King—who led rebel armies to slaughter countless innocent residents across multiple cities—could reveal such childlike innocence in Feng Qi’s presence.

Perhaps the root of it all lies in Mu Qing’s darkest years. Feng Qi entered her life, bringing warmth and making her believe he was the light she had longed for.

Later, driven by the World Destruction Dream in the heart of the deceased, she shouldered the curses of the world. Even on the brink of death, she clung to the hope of carrying on Feng Qi’s vision.

Through special channels, I’ve seen a few long-range photographs taken during the siege of Mu Qing.

In the photos, her body was covered in wounds, making even walking a struggle. Yet, until her final breath, she fought relentlessly, never retreating an inch.

I hated her, yet I also pitied her deeply.

What merit did Feng Qi possess that warranted such desperate devotion to fulfilling his dreams?

As I wrote this, a saying suddenly came to mind:

A scholar dies for one who truly understands him.

Perhaps this explains why Mu Qing, even knowing she had strayed from the right path, willingly repeated Feng Qi’s mistakes, continuing down the wrong path.

Simply because that flawed path was the one Feng Qi had once walked—the ”light” in her eyes.

For a more detailed analysis of Mu Qing, the Great Demon King, please join my livestream. Let’s continue the discussion there.

Lemon Spirit: Feng Qi, you son of a bitch! The more I learn about this bastard, the more I think he doesn’t deserve to be human. After watching the content creator’s explanation, I suddenly feel so sorry for Mu Qing. She could have had a brilliant future if she’d only chosen the right path, but Feng Qi’s influence led her down a road of no return, ultimately turning her into the Great Demon King, despised by the world.

Immortal and Eternal: The content creator’s explanation completely shattered my understanding. I’d never really delved into this period of history, so I always thought Mu Qing was inherently evil, a born sinner. But after watching your analysis, I finally understand that her actions had roots. In the end, it was Feng Qi who ruined her. Sigh.

Longing for Victory: After reading that diary, I suddenly realized that Mu Qing wasn’t as monstrous as history portrays her. She had a soft side, but she chose to show it only to Feng Qi, that bastard, while presenting her cruel face to the world.

As the content creator said, if it weren’t for Feng Qi, she could have been hailed as both the Contemporary God of War and the Historical God of War, showered with honors, recorded in the annals of history, and celebrated as a great figure.

After reading the diary, I wanted nothing more than to dig up Feng Qi’s grave. How dare that bastard continue to influence and plague this world even after death?

Loud Beeper: Besides Mu Qing, even Sword Master Liu Yue of the Sword Sect willingly became Feng Qi’s pawn. As the sole heir to the Lü Family’s sword lineage, he’s a disgrace to his ancestors.

Our ancestors sacrificed everything for humanity’s rise, yet he chose to join Feng Qi in World Destruction. I can’t fathom what kind of dark magic Feng Qi possessed to make so many follow him.

I wanted to call them brainless, but then I remembered they were the most brilliant minds of this generation. How could they be brainless? Ugh, this is so infuriating!

Spicy Potato Chips: The uploader’s commentary is too subjective, but after verifying the evidence, it’s indeed true. I feel a flicker of sympathy for Mu Qing, but she was wrong, plain and simple. We can’t forgive this heinous Demon King on behalf of our predecessors, nor does she deserve our forgiveness.

Time Rat: If my era had time machines, I’d definitely travel back to Feng Qi’s time and chop off his dog head. That would surely change the future drastically, right?

After reading the contents of the historical archives, Feng Qi’s heart remained restless for a long time.

He realized that after he was gone, the pain wasn’t limited to his future self; Mu Qing, who carried the same dream, had also suffered.

What was the ”revolution” she spoke of? While the world remained ignorant, how could he not understand?

It was certainly not about World Destruction, but about saving the world.

At that moment, he was certain of one thing: Mu Qing was not controlled by any faction. She had always been free, simply choosing what the world perceived as the most wicked methods to fight for justice.

After reading these records, he felt immense pain.

The future, shrouded in darkness, clung to him like a bone-deep infection, driving him forward. Yet every effort he made only resulted in failure and suffering.

He had exhausted 108,000 Dreams, only to find them all in vain.

It seemed that no matter how hard he tried, the ideal outcome remained distant and unattainable, leaving him with nothing but pain.

There will always be a breeze to fill your 108,000 Dreams. Though the world treats you with utmost malice, you still maintain your kindness. I believe there is only one true form of heroism: to see the world’s true nature and still love it.

Remember, you didn’t choose to bear this mission; the mission chose you.

Hearing these words, a flicker of confusion crossed Feng Qi’s face.

Though only seventeen years old—a age many would consider immature—

Having lived independently since childhood and learned to take care of himself, Feng Qi had always considered himself strong and far more mature than his peers.

Yet at this moment, he felt utterly alone and desolate.

His heart felt hollow, as if the world had abandoned him. All he wanted was to curl up in solitude at the world’s edge and weep silently.

A hero’s life is destined to face three stages of growth. The first comes when you realize the world’s future isn’t what you hoped for. The second arrives when you discover that some things remain beyond your control, no matter how hard you try. The third dawns when, despite knowing your limitations, you still fight desperately for what you believe in. Keep going, little hero.

”Narrator, you’re being so melodramatic! You’re giving me goosebumps,” Feng Qi said, his eyes rimmed with red.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Look at our little hero, almost crying! You still need to toughen up that emotional resilience.

”I’m not crying! It’s just a minor setback. There are far greater challenges ahead. Why would I cry over this? I’ll never compromise, never fall. I’ll fight to the end!” Feng Qi retorted, his voice hoarse.

Let’s pretend we didn’t see that. We’re still friends, right? Give us a smile, kid.

”Get lost.”

Alright then!
