Hijacking the Timeline

Seeing his future self being executed filled Feng Qi with immense anguish.

Each journey into the future meant that his counterpart on that timeline had become a sacrificial pawn in a trial-and-error process, enduring immense pressure and suffering.

That was why, on the brink of death, his future self had said that death was merely liberation, urging him not to feel guilty.

But how could he not feel guilty when he saw the cheering crowds and his future self lying decapitated on the execution platform?

The final shot of the execution broadcast revealed a figure.

Though his appearance had changed, with several scars now marring his face, Feng Qi instantly recognized him as the monk.

The monk had donned his tattered ascetic monk robes once more. He slowly ascended the execution platform, sat cross-legged beside Feng Qi’s body, closed his eyes, and began chanting softly, as if performing a ritual to guide his departed soul.

Feng Qi had no idea what their relationship would become later in this timeline.

But he never imagined that this seemingly unreliable monk would come to bid him farewell at the end.

Throughout the ritual, stones hurled by the jeering crowd struck the monk, yet he remained unmoved, his hands pressed together at his chest, his lips moving in constant prayer.

When military personnel arrived to clear the area, the monk reached out, gently stroked Feng Qi’s face, and closed his still-open eyes.

The final scene showed the aftermath being cleaned up, as a group of black-robed figures arrived.

This time, Mu Qing was nowhere to be seen. They appeared to be negotiating with military personnel before ultimately taking away his corpse.

As the video ended, he took a deep breath.

His heart still raced, but he knew this wasn’t the time for sentimentality. Every second he spent in the Dream Realm was precious.

He opened the search function and typed in the monk’s name: ”Huixu.”

After filtering the results, relevant information appeared:

Huixu (Great Master)

Lifespan: 219 years

Bio: 239th Abbot of Jinxian Temple, distinguished graduate of Star City Academy. He lived an unremarkable early life before a midlife awakening led him to take command of the Prajna Domain Combat Team. Under his leadership, the team achieved numerous battlefield victories. In his later years, he relinquished his command and traveled the world, spreading a message of unwavering resilience. His efforts inspired countless enlightened individuals to join the fight for humanity’s future, earning him the title of Great Master among later generations.

Praising the Future: Master Huixu’s early life was fraught with hardship. He was nearly implicated in the Feng Qi case, leading to widespread public condemnation. However, after reviewing historical records, I discovered that Master Huixu’s awakening seems directly linked to Feng Qi. The exact nature of this connection remains unclear.

Soul-Slicing Blade: If we’re discussing Master Huixu’s transformation, I believe it’s undeniably connected to Feng Qi. Master Huixu had once considered leaving the Buddhist Sect, but on the day of Feng Qi’s execution, he donned the ascetic monk’s robes once more, marking a complete change. After performing the final rites for Feng Qi, he returned to the Buddhist Sect and joined the Prajna Domain Combat Team. Through sheer dedication, he eventually rose to become its group leader—a truly inspiring yet deeply tragic tale. It seems he, too, struggled to believe his friend Feng Qi would betray humanity.

Unwavering Will: Master Huixu was once Feng Qi’s student. His presence at the execution was merely a student’s tribute to his teacher. I don’t see how Feng Qi’s influence could have played a significant role. One was a spiritual leader to many, the other a traitor. What real connection could there be between them?

Foodie Xiao Li: Historical records clearly demonstrate Master Huixu’s feelings for Feng Qi. During his time at Star City Academy, Huixu was no Great Master. Even after graduation, he remained unworthy of the title. In the years that followed, as he drifted aimlessly, he was even further from deserving the title.

But the moment Feng Qi was executed, when Huixu donned the ascetic monk’s robes once more, he truly became a Great Master. He underwent a complete transformation. We can never fully understand the depths of Master Huixu’s inner world, but I know Feng Qi’s death profoundly impacted him.

After reading the monk’s introduction, Feng Qi was surprised to learn that the monk he had always considered unreliable had become a spiritual leader for many.

Whether the monk’s transformation was related to Feng Qi himself remained a mystery.

Having never experienced the events beyond this timeline, Feng Qi could only seek answers in his private mailbox.

Before doing so, he used his remaining character information query privilege to search for Mu Qing.

After a few seconds, Mu Qing’s profile appeared:

Mu Qing (Rebel Leader)

Introduction: Originally a student at Star City Academy, Mu Qing joined the Howling Wind Domain Battle Group after graduation, becoming a domain warrior. Her exceptional performance led to rapid promotions, and within just six months, she rose to become the deputy group leader. Under her leadership, the Howling Wind Domain Battle Group was elevated to an A-Rank Battle Group.

Three years after graduating from Star City Academy, Mu Qing defied attempts to retain her and left the Howling Wind Domain Battle Group to personally establish the Dawn Domain Battle Group, one of the ten most powerful combat teams. Her numerous battlefield achievements and contributions earned her recognition as a candidate for historical war god status.

However, after Feng Qi’s death, Mu Qing’s personality underwent a drastic change. During a domain combat team conference organized by the Scarlet Research Institute, she assassinated several prominent group leaders. Subsequently, she recruited a massive number of scavengers, forming the human rebel army ”Dawn” and reviving the rune augment project to wage war against humanity.

Her hands were stained with the blood of countless innocents. As the leader of the dawn rebels, she led the slaughter of several cities, committing heinous crimes that would be condemned by future generations.

Mourning the Fallen: Mu Qing was undoubtedly one of the strongest combatants of her time. Had she followed a normal path, her immense potential would have allowed her to become a legendary war goddess. Instead, Feng Qi led her down the path of betraying all humanity, following in his footsteps to become a human traitor.

Lone Wolf: I’m fucking done with Feng Qi, that bastard. He influenced so many people. Thank God he died early, or he would have caused even more chaos.

Dragon’s Blood Qi: Looking back at history, I find many inconsistencies. They say Mu Qing betrayed humanity because of Feng Qi, but I suspect there were other reasons. Before the Scarlet Research Institute convened the domain combat team meeting, Mu Qing was only trying to prove Feng Qi wasn’t wrong. Yet she remained on the front lines, fighting against the Domain Invasion. Her defection was sudden and suspicious, riddled with unanswered questions.

After reading the Future People’s assessment of Mu Qing, Feng Qi couldn’t help but sigh.

His future self had preferred death to being saved by Mu Qing, believing it was the closest she had ever come to changing her path.

He had imagined that Mu Qing, already the group leader of the Dawn Domain Battle Group, would ultimately lead Human Civilization to rise. Yet, she had ultimately returned to her old ways.

And this time, Mu Qing’s betrayal of humanity once again bore the shadow of the Scarlet Research Institute.

He couldn’t help but suspect that the Scarlet Research Institute was secretly manipulating Mu Qing’s betrayal of all humanity.

But upon closer reflection, this explanation didn’t quite add up.

If Mu Qing was the Scarlet Research Institute’s secret weapon against humanity, why hadn’t they kept her within their organization instead of granting her freedom?

All the reasons seemed to trace back to that fateful meeting.

Filled with questions, he opened the search list and began searching for information related to the meeting.
