Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Always Have to Prove Something

The group stepped back to the entrance and only heard the person outside still rambling on.

“Yu Miaomiao, you must be worried I’m a bad person, right? Don’t be afraid, I came specially to deliver something to you. I live in the second unit of this building… But being cautious is good too. I’ll leave the bag at the door and leave. Remember to take it later.”

At the door, Chongzi’s words were sincere. After finishing, he really took off his backpack and placed it at the door, then waved with a smile through the peephole, saying: “If you’re scared, you can find me at 602 in the second unit. I’m leaving, stay safe.”

Chongzi finished speaking and left through the safety door.

??

Zheng Xinyu turned back to look at Zhang Su with a face full of confusion.

After spending a few days together day and night, she developed a mysterious trust in Zhang Su, but this time, she didn’t expect his judgment to be wrong.

Zhang Su, while keeping an ear out for any movement behind the safety door, shrugged and said, “I still hold the same opinion, he’s definitely not a good person. If you don’t believe it, you can try.”

“But, he left the stuff at the door, what harm can it do, really?”

Zhang Su noticed that Zheng Xinyu wasn’t thinking deeply and nodded his chin, saying, “Why don’t you go and get the stuff, then?”

“Hehe… He wouldn’t possibly put a bomb in the bag, would he?”

Zheng Xinyu felt that this time Zhang Su was being overly cautious and wronged a good person.

“Some people only grow after suffering. I’m telling you, today, if you open the door to get that bag, something will happen. Believe it or not?”

As Zhang Su spoke with Zheng Xinyu, he had already clearly heard Chongzi and Brother Xiang’s plan.

“But… We always have to leave the house at some point, and the bag is in the way at the door.”

Zheng Xinyu couldn’t understand what was so worrisome about a bag.

“Do you believe that guy is hiding behind the safety door, waiting to rush out and kill you when you go get the bag?”

Zhang Su made a fierce face, lowering his voice to speak.

Zheng Xinyu was frightened by Zhang Su’s expression, but her stubborn nature flared up too, and she retorted fiercely, “If it’s like you say and he dares to rush out, I’ll smash him to death with a stick!”

“Oh, wow, I’ve really underestimated our Yu Miaomiao, huh? That’s a living person, not a zombie. Can you really do it?”

Zhang Su taunted provocatively.

“Of course, I can. Anyone trying to ambush me will be dealt with as if they’re a zombie, they’ll all be smashed to death!”

Zheng Xinyu felt a bit of anger rising within, thinking that Zhang Su always looked down on her, making her quite frustrated.

“Then go get it.”

Zhang Su suddenly put away the strange look on his face and motioned for Zheng Xinyu to open the door and get the item.

“I’ll get it!”

Zheng Xinyu felt that today, the door must be opened!

Either to prove that her fans are sincere to her, or to prove her bravery and fearlessness—something must be proven.

Click, unlock.

Zhang Su rotated and flexed his wrist holding the axe, slightly shifted his body, and signaled to Zhong Xiaoshan to move back a bit…

Zheng Xinyu was unaware of Zhang Su’s series of movements. She gently pushed the door open, and the bag at the door got knocked over. As she tried to reach it but couldn’t, she pouted and continued to push the door, but just as she was half-squatting and leaning out, the safety door was suddenly yanked open.

A burly figure dashed towards the main door at high speed, with a fire axe in hand thrusting towards the gap of door 801 like a spear. If the fire axe got stuck in the door, it would be too late to close it, and they would surely be invaded!

However, a cold gleam moved faster than the man’s action…

Zhang Su already knew Brother Xiang’s plan and had been prepared. Before the safety door even fully opened, he had aimed, and as Brother Xiang darted into the eighth-floor hallway, his hand-axe flew swiftly through the gap!

Squatting down, Zheng Xinyu had no idea a sharp axe flew over her head!

“Oh, no!”

Brother Xiang, with sharp instincts, felt a sudden squeeze in his heart when danger descended. But in that brief, slow-motion moment, it was too late for him to change moves or block, let alone stop or dodge. He could only watch as the axe rushed towards him.

He had a bizarre sense that the axe seemed to know his action in advance and was waiting there, unerringly.

The brain knew to dodge, but the body couldn’t keep up!

Thud!

Zhang Su struck with relentless force, the flying axe aimed to take down Brother Xiang unequivocally, be it the face of the axe splitting Brother Xiang or the hammer head smashing into the skull, it would surely leave him lamenting his fate here!

Clang…

Brother Xiang was struck and fell backward, his head hitting the wall tiles, splattering blood across the wall, and the fire axe in his hand clattered to the ground with a crisp sound.

“Ah!”

Two terrified cries rang out, one from the clueless Zheng Xinyu, the other from Chongzi who had stepped over the safety door.

Both their eyes fell on Brother Xiang’s twitching face on the ground, with a sharp axe embedded in his cheek, pierced to the bone. With each spasm of his body, blood flowed freely from the wound across his face, finally dripping to the floor, evidently beyond saving.

Zhong Xiaoshan dashed to Zheng Xinyu, covering her mouth, incessantly shaking her head to signal not to scream.

Rule number one, no yelling no matter what you see!

“Murder, murder, someone has murdered…”

“Shut up!”

An hysterical Chongzi saw a tall man emerge from the door, his voice caught in his throat, body shaking uncontrollably, eyes filled with nearly tangible terror.

“We’ll discuss your yelling later, first look at your good fan, your good family, who came with a burly man and a fire axe to visit you, your good fan!”

Zhang Su said to Zheng Xinyu blankly.

Only then did Zheng Xinyu realize that thinking about hitting someone with a bat and actually doing it are two different things!

When danger truly came, her muscles were incapable of supporting her to make the corresponding moves, leaving her utterly confused and flabbergasted.

Gulp.

Zheng Xinyu swallowed a mouthful of saliva, sneaking another glance at Brother Xiang, who was slowing down on the floor, feeling an overwhelming mix of emotions.

“Brother Su, I’m sorry, I… It’s my fault for making you kill… kill him…”

Zheng Xinyu pointed weakly at Brother Xiang on the ground, realizing her mistake and feeling more respectful towards Zhang Su in her heart.

Zhang Su’s blood surged within him. He had injured many before, but taking a life was a first; if counting zombie Brother Li as another humanoid being, then it was the second time.

Yet thinking of these guys’ plan and the current situation, he immediately felt relieved, knowing there was no need to show mercy to those who sought to harm him and his companions.

“This is the second debt, remember it’s all owed by you! I won’t need to tell you how to deal with this Skinny Monkey, right?”

The tall man called Brother Su nodded towards Chongzi, who nearly lost control from fear, plopping to his knees.

“Brother, big brother, I was forced, forced by Brother Xiang, I’m innocent, don’t kill me, don’t kill me!”

Thump, thump, thump.

Chongzi sobbed dramatically, kowtowing incessantly.

He thought he’d come to squeeze a soft target, little did he know he’d pinched a thunderous explosion instead, utterly regretting it to his very core!
