Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: A Fan Brings Warmth

“Other survivors?”

Chongzi looked at Brother Xiang with confusion.

“Could this alarm device be something that little girl came up with?” Brother Xiang carefully grasped the metal spoon, then took out scissors to cut the wire.

Chongzi laughed, “Brother Xiang, you really shouldn’t underestimate her. That girl is a shooting game streamer. She learned a lot of sneaky tricks from chatting with us. This is child’s play!”

“Really? Okay, it doesn’t matter. If there are other people, that’s fine too; we’ll just raid together! Come on, let’s get started.”

Brother Xiang started moving things indifferently.

…

“Brother Su?”

Zheng Xinyu saw Zhang Su biting a piece of noodle and spacing out, waving a hand in front of him.

Zhong Xiaoshan looked worriedly at the strange Zhang Su, and whispered, “Brother Su, are you under too much pressure? Eat first and get a good sleep.”

Although the two had some combat ability now, their biggest reliance was still Zhang Su. They were very afraid of something happening to him.

Zhang Su’s vacant eyes suddenly focused, slurping the noodles into his mouth, and muttered unclearly, “No time to sleep, we’ve got guests!”

“Guests?”

The strange words left the two women perplexed.

“Didn’t you hear the alarm?” Zhang Su asked deliberately.

Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan looked at each other in surprise and shook their heads: “No.”

“That’s why you both lack vigilance!”

Thunk.

Just as Zhang Su finished speaking, a heavy sound came from outside.

“Is that…” Zheng Xinyu turned her head towards the door, her face serious, “Was the dressing table blocking the stairs pushed down?”

“It must be!”

Zhong Xiaoshan’s face tightened, quickly putting down her chopsticks and picking up an iron plate from the ground, looking ready for action.

Zheng Xinyu moved swiftly too, grabbed the baseball bat leaning against the wall, and with her eyes asked Zhang Su what to do next.

Zhang Su raised his hand to tell the two not to hurry, and then said in a low voice: “Not zombies, it’s people; be prepared for anything!”

He didn’t share the information he’d heard with Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan, wanting to see their reaction.

Zheng Xinyu was curious why Zhang Su knew it was people, guessing he judged it from the noise, but she didn’t dwell on it, quietly followed Zhang Su to the back of the door.

“Damn it, Chongzi, something feels off!”

Brother Xiang looked back at the heavy sofa and dressing table, saying, “Even though you said the girl knows a lot of miscellaneous stuff, could a little girl manage this by herself?”

Chongzi scratched his head, the sofa and dressing table in front of them were heavy even for them who hadn’t eaten for two days, let alone a little girl; it wouldn’t work even if she was well-fed….

“Maybe… hey, Brother Xiang, look, there are traces of a fire and unused planks; there’s definitely someone upstairs. Right, these obstacles were set by survivors above!”

Chongzi offered what he thought was a reasonable explanation.

Brother Xiang walked between the eighth and ninth floors, picked up the planks and looked at them, then said dismissively: “It doesn’t matter, let’s go to the girl’s home!”

Resolute in their decision, they arrived at the eighth floor, pushed open the safety door, and saw the door to room 801.

Brother Xiang tightened the fire axe in his hand and signaled Chongzi to knock.

Chongzi dared not go against Brother Xiang, carefully holding the crowbar and walked into the floor, looked around without finding anything unusual, then tiptoed to the door of room 801.

Thud, thud, thud.

Three dull knocks echoed.

Zhang Su, standing behind the peephole, smirked as he saw Chongzi trying to make a friendly face, finding it amusing.

Zheng Xinyu and Zhong Xiaoshan stayed quiet, their eyes fixed on Zhang Su, waiting for his direction.

“Yu Miaomiao, are you home? I’m your fan, here to rescue you!”

Chongzi, seeing no response to his knocking, felt slightly relieved, at least proving there were no zombies inside, and tentatively shouted.

Zhang Su puffed his cheeks, almost bursting into laughter, turned to Zheng Xinyu with a playful look, knowing Yu Miaomiao was definitely her online name, but it seemed too childish.

Zheng Xinyu knew exactly what Zhang Su was laughing at, feeling embarrassed and angry even in this tense moment, and she was puzzled that a fan would know where she lived and come to save her.

Zhong Xiaoshan’s lips twitched as she clearly wanted to laugh too.

“What’s so funny, humph, just look at how loyal my fans are, coming to save me even after zombie breakout!”

Zheng Xin glared at Zhang Su, expressing her discontent in a very low voice.

However, outside the door, Chongzi was pressing his ear against the door, hearing a faint sound inside, he gleefully exclaimed, “Yu Miaomiao, is it you? It’s great you’re okay. I’m Fei Chong Tian. I sent you gifts a few days ago, came to check on you, are you alright?”

The sincere tone warmed the heart, if Zhang Su hadn’t known in advance this guy was up to no good, he might have believed this nonsense.

Initially considering dealing directly with these two scheming guys, Zhang Su changed his mind and came up with a plan.

Zhang Su gestured to Zheng Xinyu to look outside.

“Yu Miaomiao, do you have any food and drink left? I brought plenty for you, are you there? Say something.”

Chongzi spoke in an extremely gentle voice.

After Zheng Xinyu glanced outside, Zhang Su signaled the two to move away from the door, and said quietly, “His sweet-talking disguise doesn’t seem honest!”

Zheng Xinyu hesitated, “But… he doesn’t seem to be lying, and he’s indeed a fan from our community. But I recall telling fans I live in building ten, even my deliveries say building ten, how did he find me?”

Zheng Xinyu has basic safety awareness, concealing her real name and address despite possibly being tracked to Sheng Qin Home due to the internet.

“So do you think it’s necessary to open the door?”

Zhang Su didn’t concern himself with previous events, since they found her now, he didn’t offer a suggestion, merely guiding.

Zheng Xinyu became more uncertain, instinctively glancing at Zhang Su and Zhong Xiaoshan, hesitating, “Should we… meet him? He really carries a big bag of stuff.”

“Are you not afraid of him taking advantage once the door’s open?”

Zhang Su asked.

“You’re here, so I’m not afraid… okay, alright, I won’t open it.”

Clearly, Zheng Xinyu’s lack of decisiveness was showing.

“Now that they’re at the door, will you open it or pretend nobody’s home?”

Zhang Su continued to guide.

Opening the door, communicating without opening, pretending not to be there, now another option is added, muddling Zheng Xinyu’s already confused mind further.

“So maybe wait a bit, see what he does?”

Zhong Xiaoshan added fuel to the fire, suggesting another handling method.

Zheng Xinyu nodded rapidly, “Yes, let’s see what he does next, it’s better not to harm a good person or fall into the traps of bad people!”

Zhang Su grinned without saying much, recognizing Zheng Xinyu still held the mindset from the peaceful past, deciding to take this chance to teach her a good lesson.
