Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 82: Chapter 81: Scouting Shuangye City

“Lord, I have one more thing to report.”

At this moment, Wei Gang continued speaking.

“What is it?” Lin You looked at Wei Gang.

“It’s about these refugees. The refugees coming from Shuangye City are almost over five hundred now. Manager Xue told me… it seems like our food isn’t enough.”

Manager Xue is the name citizens use to refer to Xue Changgui.

After all, Yellow Sand City is now under Lin You’s jurisdiction, so Xue Changgui naturally doesn’t dare to call himself the City Lord anymore; hence, he became the General Manager of Yellow Sand City, in charge of all matters big and small within Yellow Sand City.

Since he already mentioned a food shortage, it must have reached a very serious level.

If it were back then, Lin You truly wouldn’t know how to resolve this situation.

But now…

Lin You glanced at Lingxi flying beside him, a confident smile gradually emerging on his face.

“Alright, take them inside and settle them first. I will resolve the food issue.”

“Yes!”

Wei Gang dared not say more.

Upon responding, he led the group of refugees into Yellow Sand City to prepare for settling them.

Meanwhile, Lin You ordered the plants by his side to return to the territory.

Then he and Lingxi proceeded to the field outside the city.

After half a month of cultivation and management, the scale of the farmland had already expanded more than fivefold.

As far as one could see, there were fields of growing wheat and pumpkin, along with potatoes, all showing considerable growth.

Especially the batch of seeds planted earliest.

They were already nearly formed, just short of maturity.

But even so, this batch of crops is likely to take another half month before harvest. Lin You could afford to wait, but the citizens could not.

So Lin You directly looked at Lingxi beside him: “Lingxi, I’ll leave it to you.”

Awakened to the Power of Command, Lingxi’s control over plants had reached a tremendously terrifying level.

Handling these ordinary crops was naturally no problem.

Upon hearing Lin You’s words, it slowly ascended into the sky, gliding over the farmland while waving the magic staff in its hand.

Wherever it went, sheets of fluorescence fell onto the farmland.

Not long after, the crops below began to rapidly grow taller, taking on a golden hue.

In the blink of an eye, the batch of crops planted first was almost mature, startling the nearby farmhands into fleeing the farmland.

“Lord, what’s going on?”

The farmhands, seeing Lin You, gathered anxiously, thinking something had gone wrong.

“Nothing, I just made these crops mature faster. Quickly notify Manager Xue and have him arrange for people to come collect the grain.”

“Oh, alright, we will notify Manager Xue immediately!”

The citizens, upon hearing it was Lin You’s doing, immediately became pleasantly surprised.

After repeatedly responding, they quickly ran back to Yellow Sand City to find Xue Changgui.

A while later, Lingxi flew a circle over the farmland and returned to Lin You’s side, looking slightly fatigued.

“You’ve worked hard.”

Lin You softly said.

It seemed that, even for Lingxi, catalyzing so many plants at once was truly a task that drained both its mind and Power of Nature.

Luckily, this catalysis was only for emergencies.

Once subsequent food production gradually catches up, it won’t need to intervene anymore.

Thinking of this, Lin You took Lingxi back to the territory, letting it rest well inside.

Not long after.

The citizens, led by Xue Changgui, rushed to the farmland en masse to begin harvesting the newly matured crops.

Even the refugees who had just been properly settled joined the ranks.

The entire farmland was bustling with activity.

“Alright, let’s continue recruiting species.”

Lin You no longer focused on the matters in the farmland.

He took the four thousand Magic Energy he’d just acquired to the Tree of Life to start recruiting species.

Lin You glanced roughly at the situation.

He now had ten of each, Wood Shadow Dragon, Wood Lion, and Wood Calamity Turtle within the territory.

He doesn’t need to expand the land-based forces for the time being.

So he resumed recruiting Earth Elemental Spirits, beginning the mutation process.

“Mutating a Tier Six Species requires consuming 250 points of Magic Energy. Do you wish to continue?”

“Continue.”

With Lin You’s voice, the newly recruited Earth Elemental Spirit was enveloped in light, its body rapidly changing.

Soon, a peculiar watermelon emerged, complete with facial features and limbs.

Unexpectedly, it was a great start right away.

Mutated into a variant plant similar to the Fear Pumpkin.

“Watermelon, good stuff indeed!”

Lin You checked the watermelon’s attributes. Sure enough, like the Fear Pumpkin, it could be sown, making him pleasantly surprised.

In such a dry and hot environment, the one thing he longed to eat most was naturally watermelon.

After viewing the mutated watermelon’s attributes, he immediately had it sow a patch of watermelon seeds on the vacant land at the territory’s edge.

Along with the wheat, pumpkin, and potato already planted, the territory’s planting area expanded significantly.

Soon, he would have a private estate of his own, bringing a sense of achievement.

Then.

Lin You continued using the remaining Magic Energy for plant mutations.

This time luck was good; out of eight mutations, six were Combat Species.

Now the number of species above Tier Six was seventy-three, finally possessing a decent force.

“It’s also time to check the situation over at Shuangye City.”

Lin You gazed at the vast species before him, contemplating.

As one would say, knowing oneself and one’s enemies is the key to remaining undefeated.

Shuangye City, being the closest city, ought to have its situation clarified.

Moreover, he now had his first Tier Seven Species, no longer fearing anything, making it ideal for going to understand the surrounding environment, and if possible, bringing back some people would be even better.

With this thought, Lin You closed the recruitment interface and began preparing within the territory.

…

Early the next morning.

Lin You brought the ten fastest-moving Wood Lions, ten Wood Shadow Dragons, and Lingxi Mushroom Demon King to the territory’s exterior.

After all, since it was just reconnaissance, there was no need to bring too many species.

And accompanying them was Wei Gang, responsible for guiding the way.

Lin You directly had him ride on the back of one of the Wood Lions, traveling together for greater speed.

“Alright, let’s move out!”

With Lin You’s command, the entire team set off.

Amidst the thunderous sounds of footsteps, they sped toward the east.

Initially somewhat fearful of the Wood Lions, Wei Gang clung tightly to the branches protruding from the Wood Lion’s back, looking terrified.

However, he quickly recalled his duty, guiding Lin You alongside him: “Lord, once we cross this forest, we’ll see a main road; just follow it, and it’ll lead straight to Shuangye City.”

“Alright, let’s increase our speed and aim to arrive within an hour.”

The Wood Lion’s speed was indeed much faster when running.

Without considering terrain and obstacles encountered along the way, the less-than-a-hundred-kilometer distance wouldn’t take much time at all.

Of course, should they encounter any demons along the way, Lin You was not shy about dealing with them to collect some Magic Energy.

Thus, the party of two, along with over twenty species.

Under the gaze of Yellow Sand City’s citizens, they gradually disappeared into the distant forest.
