Global Lords: My Species Can Mutate

Chapter 53: Chapter 52: I’ll Call You the Mushroom Demon King

By the time Lin You returned to the territory, it was already afternoon.

Along the way, he had deliberately detoured to other places to hunt many Tier Five demons, only returning after noon.

By now, he had collected over 54,000 magic energy.

Even relying on the Bathing Fire Lotus and ranking rewards, he could gather enough to reach 60,000 in these last few days, with some surplus.

This was thanks to today’s magic creature gathering spot, which earned him over 10,000 magic energy, much faster than he expected.

Finally able to relax, he didn’t continue hunting demons but instead researched things within the territory.

Foremost, naturally, is his most important mutated ability.

[Mutation: Consumes magic energy to mutate designated summoned unit into a random summoned unit of the same tier, retaining one original skill.]

It can be said that Lin You’s achievements are mostly owed to this ability.

If not for this ability, he probably would have died in that beast tide back then.

After all, not everyone is as unlucky as him, randomly getting a sapling as the initial species, and so close to the beast tide’s origin.

Seeing that today he had the time, he seized the opportunity to thoroughly research this ability.

For example, mutating into a plant with a royal bloodline.

“Let’s try with the Tier One species first.”

Lin You sat cross-legged beneath the Tree of Life.

After freeing up a recruitment slot, he began using magic energy to recruit a Tier One Plant Spirit.

[Recruiting Tier One species requires consuming 1 magic energy. Would you like to continue?]

“Continue.”

For Lin You now, 1 magic energy is completely insignificant, so he chose to recruit without hesitation.

And this Tier One Plant Spirit was researched by him from the Tower of Species a few days ago, and is now in a recruitable state.

A flash of fluorescence swept by, and a fist-sized light cluster quickly condensed before Lin You.

Lin You glanced at its information and directly used mutation on it.

[Mutating Tier One species requires consuming 1 magic energy. Would you like to continue?]

“Yes.”

Following another flow of energy, the light cluster before him quickly transformed, soon becoming another plant.

A Tier One little sapling…

[Name: Little Sapling]

[Race: Plant]

[Level: Tier One (0/10)]

[Power: 0 (Attack Strength)]

[Constitution: 8 (Life Force)]

[Agility: 0 (Speed)]

[Spirit: 8 (Skill Power)]

[Skills: Breath of Nature, Nature Control]

[Introduction: The most basic plant type summoned creature, awakened attack ability for unknown reasons, can simply control the power of nature.]

Have you ever seen a little sapling with two skills?

Anyway, Lin You has seen one.

This little sapling not only possesses its own healing skill but also inherited an attack magic from the Plant Spirit due to the mutation ability, probably making it a unique and bizarre little sapling like no other.

Of course, Lin You wasn’t sitting here to make little saplings.

After an internal grumble, he continued using mutation ability on the little sapling in front of him.

[Mutating Tier One species requires consuming 1 magic energy. Would you like to continue?]

“Yes.”

In a flash, the little sapling turned into a small mushroom, inheriting the Nature Control skill.

“Continue mutating.”

“Swipe!”

The small mushroom turned back into the original little sapling.

“Continue mutating.”

…

Thus, Lin You sat beneath the Tree of Life, continuously mutating that Tier One plant.

While the plant before him continued changing form, skills swapping around.

Unexpectedly.

After spending a full two hours and over seven hundred mutations, the Tier One plant was still the original Tier One plant, showing no signs of a royal bloodline mutation.

Was he really this unlucky?

Or was it sheer luck to have previously mutated two plants with royal bloodlines?

“I refuse to believe it! Three hundred more times and I’ll quit!”

The more Lin You thought, the more frustrated he became.

Though seven to eight hundred magic energy isn’t much and won’t affect his plans, it wasted so much time, nearly numbing his legs.

After stretching his muscles and eating some jerky, he promptly resumed mutating.

With each successive mutation, his actions became numb, repeatedly performing mechanical movements.

Finally.

When nearing nine hundred seventy mutations and Lin You was about to give up, a different light suddenly shone.

[Mutation successful, Thorny Vine Grass mutated into Small Mushroom (Royal), currently Level: Tier One]

At the moment of hearing this prompt, Lin You’s previously numbed expression suddenly trembled in excitement.

A dazzling flash passed and a red small mushroom crowned with royalty appeared before him.

[Name: Small Mushroom (Royal)]

[Race: Plant]

[Level: Tier One (0/10)]

[Power: 5]

[Constitution: 8]

[Agility: 8]

[Spirit: 10]

[Skills: Explosive Spores, Explosive Mastery (Explosion power and range doubled.)]

[Introduction: What nasty tricks could a small mushroom have? It just likes to set off fireworks, that’s all.]

Lin You felt immeasurable excitement, unable to believe that after nearly a thousand mutations, he had successfully mutated a plant with royal bloodline.

And it was the Tier One species of Explosive Mushroom!

Although the attributes of Tier One small mushroom aren’t high, the skills are extremely powerful.

Doubling the explosion’s power and range is practically unreasonable!

Additionally, having awakened the royal bloodline, the skills inherited from other plants were replaced, leaving only the exclusive skills of the mushroom.

Lin You could easily imagine how terrifying this small mushroom will become when it grows up.

Probably as formidable as a moving output turret, exploding in a massive area.

Lin You was quite satisfied with this small mushroom.

Finally, his efforts weren’t wasted.

Now the only task left is to level up the small mushroom; not necessarily to Tier Six, but at least beyond Tier Four.

This way, the small mushroom won’t be so easy to kill; otherwise, he’d be heartbroken at that time.

And after this practical experience.

Lin You also roughly grasped the situation of the ’Mutation’ ability.

Unable to mutate rare species, though indeed able to cultivate plants with royal bloodlines.

But as for the probability…

Actually, Lin You doesn’t want to repeat this process anytime soon.

After all, it takes too much time and energy, and the mutated species is still Tier One, unable to fight on the front lines anytime soon.

As for mutating high-tier species, it shouldn’t even be considered; he doesn’t have so much magic energy to consume.

Having obtained a small mushroom, he’s already hugely satisfied and doesn’t dare ask for more.

Thinking of this, Lin You looked at the small mushroom before him and said:

“Since you are the royal among mushrooms, your name from now on will be… Mushroom Demon King, how about it?”

Small Mushroom: “???”
