Apocalypse: I Built a City of Sin

“We came to avenge Little Dong, not seize territory and people! If the Crown Prince Gang didn’t kill him, destroying them would only benefit the real murderer!” Meng Xiuwen shouted angrily.

Everyone else had been consumed by bloodlust. Only Meng Xiuwen remained rational, and that rationality made him understand how suspicious the situation was.

He picked up the vehicle’s microphone.

“Ma Gang, you’re surrounded! Hand over your son, Ma Chenbin, and explain everything. You may still survive. Otherwise, we will kill every last one of you!”

Ma Gang leaned against the balcony and cursed furiously.

“Fuck your mother! I don’t even know where my son is! How am I supposed to hand him over?”

After catching his breath, he shouted again, “Why the hell did you attack me for no reason? What did my son do to you?”

Dong Haobiao snatched the microphone.

“Ma Gang, you bastard! You bullied me before the apocalypse, and now you’re still fucking with me! If you want to know why I’m after your son, ask what wonderful thing he did!”

Ma Gang felt like crying. He punched the wall twice and wished he could rush outside and die together with this unreasonable idiot.

He drew a deep breath. The mental discipline developed during his years in power quickly restored his reason.

“Dong Haobiao, fuck your mother! Explain yourself! What did my son do?”

“Your son cut off my son’s head! Shouldn’t I come for him?” Dong Haobiao screamed hoarsely.

Ma Gang staggered and nearly collapsed, utterly dumbfounded.

“Mr. Dong, there must be a misunderstanding!” a Crown Prince Gang member shouted. “Our boss left Lily New City days ago. How could he have killed your son? What would we gain from doing it?”

“Dong Haobiao, you fucking donkey! You attacked before learning anything! Is your skull full of shit?” Ma Gang trembled with rage.

“What? Ma Chenbin isn’t in Lily New City?” Dong Haobiao felt as though lightning had struck him, but stubbornly refused to believe it. “Bullshit! If he isn’t here, how did his ring end up in my son’s room?”

He raised the ring outside the vehicle.

Ma Gang cautiously exposed half his head and looked.

It truly belonged to his son.

“What the fuck is happening? Someone framed us! My son must be in trouble too!” Ma Gang immediately realized the danger and leaped up, roaring. “We’ve been tricked! This must be that old dog Lin Chengxun’s trap!”

“He captured my son, then provoked us into destroying each other so he could profit afterward!”

Dong Haobiao shuddered as everything suddenly made sense.

The situation had been suspicious from beginning to end, but if it was Lin Chengxun’s conspiracy, every detail fit.

While they stood there in uncertainty, a bodyguard raced over in a car, slammed on the brakes, and jumped out.

“Disaster! Big Brother, Lin Chengxun led a force in a surprise attack on our base! They took the entire eastern district and captured everyone there!”

“What?” Dong Haobiao and his two sworn brothers shouted together.

Ma Gang had heard from the balcony.

“Fuck you, Dong Haobiao! I told you that you’d been deceived! You idiot! You’ve gotten me killed!”

Meng Xiuwen stepped forward and shouted up at him.

“Ma Gang! Lin Chengxun must have your son. Even if he doesn’t, he was responsible for what happened to him! If you’re a man, join us and take revenge!”

“You don’t need to tell me!” Ma Gang roared. “Brothers, grab your weapons! We’re going to kill that old dog Lin! We’ll fight him to the death!”

Dong Haobiao collapsed into his seat as though struck by lightning.

His son was gone. His territory was gone. Everything was over.

Someone had used him as a weapon, and he had not realized a thing.

After decades navigating society, he had still been manipulated like a fool.

“Big Brother, pull yourself together!” Meng Xiuwen seized his shoulders. “Now that we’ve found the murderer, we must fight back and avenge Little Dong! If we don’t, Lin Chengxun will slaughter us at his leisure!”

The word revenge revived Dong Haobiao. He lifted his rifle and shouted to everyone behind him.

“Brothers! That shameless old dog Lin Chengxun destroyed our home and wants us dead! Let’s fight him!”

Dong Haobiao’s and Ma Gang’s forces, who had been killing one another moments earlier, united under their shared hatred and charged toward the southern faction.

Every person went prepared to die.

None knew that Xiao Yi, the mastermind behind everything, was relaxing inside a villa, drinking wine and eating stolen snacks as he watched them march.

Both sides now possessed a blood feud. The moment they met, they would open fire without discussion.

All Xiao Yi had to do was wait and reap the benefits.

Meanwhile, Lin Chengxun’s force was searching everywhere for Dong Haobiao.

After several captured women revealed that he had gone west, Lin Chengxun ordered the execution of every man remaining in the eastern district.

Blood stained the open ground. Gunshots mingled with screams and pleas for mercy.

Whether they belonged to Dong Haobiao or not, Lin Chengxun’s hatred-blinded men raised their weapons against them.

After the massacre, Lin Chengxun immediately led his force toward the west.

Two blood-crazed factions, both burning with hatred, advanced directly toward one another.
