Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 849: Chapter 17: Bandai

However, Gao Gong wasn’t too disappointed, because even if the Planet Host was effective, it wouldn’t be of much use.

A Tier 3 host still couldn’t fend off the Cyber Tide.

Perhaps the legendary Dominator could, since being the Star System Sovereign, it’s likely a Tier 4 entity. Coupled with the Ascension Talent from a Level 7 Civilization, it might stand a chance.

But if that party got involved, there wouldn’t be much left for him to do.

So the incompetence of the Planet Host was precisely his opportunity.

”Miss Ke, do you remember those special individuals I had you register?”

”Of course, the codename ’Player’, ’Player’ in ancient times referred to participants in games. I’ve observed them for a while and found this codename quite fitting.”

”Alright, mobilize them under the name of Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division and send them to the most dangerous places to perform counter-rebel operations.”

”But Minister, as far as I know, all mercenary legions have raised their prices tenfold, and in some dangerous areas like the Memory Loss Zone and the Neural Theft Zone, many advanced mercenaries refuse to enter.”

They say the unknown is the most dangerous. Mercenaries can handle some things, even dangerous ones, but such randomly deranged areas make anyone shiver. After all, mercenaries aren’t suicide squads, and true suicide squads are almost all dead.

”No problem, these people are quite willing to go to those areas as long as you provide them with some weapons, even the simplest kinds.”

”Understood, I will follow your method, but are you sure it’s under the name of Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division? It’s the first time the Division has hired non-department personnel to solve problems. I’m worried it might cause some controversy.”

Gao Gong lazily said, ”If there’s a controversy, it’s simple. Whoever has an opinion can go do the task. Solve one task, give them ten tasks; if ten isn’t enough, give them a hundred. The capable do more work.”

”Understood.”

Gao Gong still wanted to say some blunt words when he suddenly uttered a light sound and looked up, and only after a full ten seconds did the alarm sound.

”Minister, we’ve been locked on by the Armed Space Station!”

”Can we confirm which company it is?”

”Currently searching.”

”Oh, then let’s perform tactical evasive maneuvers first.”

”Yes!”

Soon, more and more missiles appeared in the clouds. Gao Gong suddenly frowned, his eyes flashed with purple light as if he saw something outside.

”Minister! We’ve been locked by a Space Anchor!”

The Sky Carrier emitted a heavy ’dong’ sound, and then the entire Sky Carrier was anchored in the Void, ripples emerging circle by circle.

In the clouds, it seemed as if a huge creature was coldly observing them.

However, after all, the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division is the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division. None present panicked but instead orderly entered various control stations. Soon, the deck slowly opened, and densely packed Energy Cannon Ports emerged. In almost a breath, this Sky Carrier turned into a porcupine carrier, with firepower intensity even exceeding a typical Mechanical Fortress.

The next moment, the entire sky brightened for a moment.

Countless beams of light lit up, each either hitting the enemy’s Energy Cannons, annihilating both energies simultaneously, or hitting the opponent’s rockets, causing huge explosions to erupt from the cloud layer.

The deck at the tail wing opened again, and small shuttles shot out. The shuttles were only three or four meters long, but their pilots were all top drivers whose Consciousness had just been downloaded. Often, a single shuttle could weave through the rain of energy light, either intercepting or mitigating damage.

In the darkness, explosions were occasionally heard, indicating the opponent was also using similar Flying Devices, though with much less efficiency than the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division.

”The ninth and eleventh Mechanical Legions have been notified, and our reinforcements will arrive in 30 minutes.”

Gao Gong took a sip of the coffee on the table and calmly said, ”Miss Ke, can you confirm who’s attacking us?”

”It’s not difficult. Those able to anchor us in Space can only be Tier 3 Civilization Architecture, and space-type Civilization Architecture is even rarer...”

”What you’re talking about is the developer of the weapon, but I’m asking about its user, and the two are likely not the same.”

Gao Gong shook his head.

”But it doesn’t matter. Since they’ve made such a scene, they’ll most likely show themselves.”

”Should we first transfer the consciousness of the logistics members?”

”You can try, but it’s probably not easy.”

Sure enough, soon Miss Ke’s voice sounded again.

”Based on detection, the current state cannot perform Consciousness Transfer.”

”Then Miss Ke, can you leave by yourself?”

”Me?” There was finally a hint of astonishment in Miss Ke’s voice, ”Minister, my personal data center is the Shell Attack Center. You don’t have to worry about my data being hacked.”

”From your tone, can you leave? Then go, it’s an order from the Minister,” Gao Gong said with a calm expression.

”...Yes.”

Soon, Miss Ke’s voice vanished, even the data connection in Gao Gong’s mind dimmed.

And within Gao Gong’s chamber, footsteps began to echo slowly, and at some point, music started playing, somewhat resembling the simple, fun tunes of a children’s paradise. All it lacked was a line like, ’Daddy’s daddy is Grandpa, Mommy’s mommy is Grandma.’.

Gao Gong chuckled.

”Come on out, someone from the Skull Society, with such style, it must be Bandai.”

Among the music, one by one, plush toys appeared, clapping their hands and feet, dancing joyously, even circling around Gao Gong.

However, Gao Gong showed a disgusted expression, because under the Divine Knowledge’s gaze, each plush toy contained a large number of Worm Eggs, with two Memory Worms gently stretching and contracting within the toys’ eyes.

Under the influence of these plush toys, the Worm Eggs within Gao Gong were rapidly increasing.

Gao Gong looked calmly at the opposite party, and soon, a person in a giant bear costume came out, sitting cheerfully across from Gao Gong.

”Minister Gao, to hear is not as good as to see, nice to meet you again.”

”Boss Bandai, what do you want from me?” Gao Gong said plainly.

”Nothing much, just wanted to meet the Minister and by the way, invite you to join the Skull Society.”

”Invite me to join the Skull Society, so you want me to become a puppet of ’that guy’ like all of you?”

The giant bear costume paused, then laughed, ”As expected of Minister Gao, you even know about this.”

”I thought such crazy geniuses pursuing science like you would disdain becoming worm puppets.”

”Puppet technology is also a form of Advanced Information Technology.”
