Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 841: Chapter 9: Showdown

As soon as the Supreme Being’s envoy appeared, several ’Main Race’ members changed their expressions, clearly recalling something.

Black Rose stared deeply at the counterpart, not knowing why, but she felt a strange sense of familiarity the first time she saw him.

The memory cells within her started to evolve anew, memories tracing back, back, until they finally froze at a certain scene.

It was a rainy night, a bloodied young girl hiding in an alley, breathing heavily.

The sound of footsteps began to echo, the girl’s face changed, fear once again covered her heart, she instinctively gripped the dagger.

”To climb out of hell, one must first join hell.”

”To control the darkness, first, one must infiltrate the black water.”

”Miss, your current situation isn’t very good; assassins from certain factions are popping up in droves, using various means to capture you now.”

”Who are you!” the girl shouted.

”Don’t worry, I am not your enemy, nor am I here to avenge that worthless clone of a father you killed, and neither are those assassins.”

The girl didn’t lessen her guard, still staring intently at the shadow on the wall; should he make any move, she would fight him with all her might.

”A fledgling eagle that shelters under the eagle’s nest before it has grown is not a bad thing; those that want to capture you covet your value, but on the flip side, others will also protect you for the same reason.”

The shadow slowly descended, as if to place something down.

”As I said, to climb out of hell, one must first join hell; to avoid the assassins’ pursuit, perhaps joining the largest assassin organization on this planet isn’t a bad choice.”

The shadow slowly left.

The girl waited a long while until the footsteps disappeared completely before she slowly stepped out; there was nothing on the ground except an invitation card — an Assassin Alliance assassin’s invitation card.

”It’s you!!”

Black Rose’s expression finally changed; that black shadow was the apostle in front of her.

The apostle had no facial features, yet Black Rose could clearly feel he was smiling.

”I’m sorry I couldn’t meet you at that time, but if I didn’t leave early, the Planet Host would soon calculate the ’unexpected factor,’ and within that cosmic relic’s avatar, there exists a presence disrupting fortune; in eliminating such interferences, both sides hold common ground.”

”What’s your goal?” a ’Main Race’ member boldly asked.

”My goal,” the black shadow pondered for a moment, ”I can only tell you, my goal is not within this Cyber Test Field.”

”Are you going after the ’Star System Sovereign’?” another ’Main Race’ member swallowed hard; it was clear he knew the Planet Host’s superior was Robert Star System’s Mechanical Sovereign.

”Sovereign,” the black shadow showed an amused smile, saying, ”Maybe, maybe not, who knows.”

”What do we get out of it?” This time the question came from the Patriarch Xie; rather than questioning, it seemed more like cooperation.

The black shadow laughed, ”Simple, cooperate with me to destroy this Cyber Test Field; once the destruction is complete, I won’t take a penny from its resources, all of it will be your reward.”

”How to destroy it?” the organizer of Paradise Society spoke.

”So, you agree?”

”If the benefits are enough, why not; after all, our roots are no longer on this planet.”

”Aren’t you afraid of the Mother City and the civilization behind it?”

”If the sky falls, taller people will hold it up; don’t forget, now is the Giant Corporation Era, we have long lost our use value; neither of us should forget how Mother City dealt with those abandoned experiment data.”

”Hehe, truly the fearless newborn calves; you probably don’t know the true Civilization Power of an Advanced Civilization.”

”I don’t know about the Civilization Power, but I know that I am no longer satisfied with the title of Planet Nobility; I’ve heard that in the cosmos, there is a kind of Cosmic Nobility that, even on the Civilization Council, is a guest of honor.”

A Main Race member with a shattered eyeball spoke fervently.

Clearly, for the sake of advancing further, he no longer cared about his own survival.

Compared to ordinary aristocrats indulging in extreme sensory pleasures, these ’Main Race’ members had more ambition; among the dozen present, half bore the marks of ’Forbidden Modifications.’

It was just that their Talent was insufficient to support them climbing the Technology Tree on their own.

”Then, hand over the keys, sign this contract, and you can participate in this Cyber Tide plan.”

The black shadow said.

Soon, five keys were handed over.

The form of these ’keys’ was very mystical, lying between existence and nonexistence; a single grab, and they’d turn into an ’Information Stream’ passing through the palm.

To be honest, even the ’Main Race’ themselves didn’t know the use of these keys, only that they couldn’t be traded, deciphered, or replaced.

Right, gathering all the keys could open the door to a Planet Host.

”Seems like if we don’t participate in this plan, we’re going to be silenced,” a ’Main Race’ member said with a forced smile.

His ambition wasn’t that large, nor did he have interest in engaging in high-level scheming, subverting a Cyber Test Field, or even according to the envoy’s words, confronting a Sovereign, or those entities he dared not even imagine resisting.

Knowing too many secrets leads to a miserable end.

And judging by the envoy’s demeanor, it seemed he had no intention of hiding it, which meant two possibilities, either the envoy intended to fully protect them, or... pawns!

The ’Main Race’ member looked at the 3rd Generation Miller, then at Patriarch Xie; these two were undoubtedly the ones to definitely protect.

Patriarch Xie remained expressionless, while the 3rd Generation Miller showed a strange smile.

”You can try.”

Sure enough, ”Consciousness Upload,” ”Data Avatars,” and ”Soul Artifacts” were all useless.

The ”Main Race” didn’t waste words, directly took out the Light Phone, and contacted their asteroid through the interstellar network.

”Master, it’s not good, a large interstellar fleet has appeared and is crazily attacking our territory.”

”It’s the interstellar fleet, not interstellar pirates?”

The expression of the ”Main Race” slightly changed.

Interstellar pirates are one thing, but an interstellar fleet is another matter. The deployment of an interstellar fleet indicates the involvement of a Level 3 Civilization.

Using holographic projection, indeed, a series of silver-white ships appeared in outer space, looking like silver walls and iron bastions.

Then the screen was instantly cut off.

”The Light Net is down.”

The ”Main Race” murmured to themselves, but without saying anything else, directly took out a key, threw it onto the table, and closed their eyes, saying nothing.

Seeing this, the other ”Main Races” lost their spirit and obediently handed over their keys.

The 3rd Generation Miller, the young girl from the Miller Clan, Patriarch Xie, and several others focused their attention on Black Rose.

Black Rose was different from other Cloud Nobility; her stronghold was on the Mechanical Split Star, which meant dealing with her couldn’t be done recklessly like with others. Otherwise, if she reported them, everyone would be finished.

Moreover, this woman was completely insane, not only swallowing the Corporate Will of four Super Corporations but also forcibly transforming all their top executives with it, rendering any conspiracy impossible.

That’s why Black Shadow resorted to connections and flattery.

Black Rose wasted no time, directly summoned two keys, and said:

”You helped me once 20 years ago, and I definitely need to return the favor, but your heart is impure, only thinking of using me to acquire the ’Main Race Key.’ Now I repay you with this connection.”

Black Rose flicked her finger, and a key fell into Black Shadow’s hand.

Her intention was clear, exchanging an ”Assassin’s Invitation” for a ”Cloud Noble Key,” perfectly reasonable, and the rest would be discussed later.

Patriarch Xie and the 3rd Generation Miller exchanged a glance, just about to say something but were stopped by Black Shadow, who said with interest:

”Ms. Rose, what do you mean?”

”Since you claim to be a Data Avatar of the Cosmic Relic, why don’t we have a duel. If you win, then everything can be discussed; if you lose, and can’t even deal with me, let alone the Planet Host.”

Black Rose slowly stood up, and suddenly the entire Cloud City shuddered crazily, with all nobles feeling their cells rotating unnaturally, ageing instantly by ten years.

The combination of Metabolism Queen and Reverse Bionics, two ”Destruction Forms,” caused Black Rose’s Power to rise endlessly.

”How could this be?” The 3rd Generation Miller’s expression changed. Without Civilization Power, how could this woman’s power reach such a level?

He felt she could kill him without even making a move.

Behind her, Professor Aixin looked at this scene with fervor, muttering to himself.

”So that’s how it is.”

Black Shadow still showed no expression, yet his tone remained light, drawing a circle slowly. The black circle turned into a black door.

”Please.”

Black Rose’s figure disappeared, and the terrifying Biological Magnetic Field also gradually dissipated.

”What is this—”

A member of the ”Main Race” lowered his head, suddenly noticing the key on the table, and instantly was surprised.

For the first time, these keys underwent changes, transforming into streams of Information rushing towards the black door, yet barred from entry.

”Have you seen the material of these keys, Brother Xie?” the 3rd Generation Miller couldn’t help but look at Patriarch Xie.

Patriarch Xie shook his head.

”Even the Ancestral Hall can’t analyze the material of the keys. I suspect this isn’t the work of the Ancient Mechanical Civilization, but of another High-level Information Civilization.”

”But why would the Mother City give it to us if it’s just a token of goodwill? Why make it so precious?”

The 3rd Generation Miller continued asking.

Patriarch Xie pondered for a moment and sighed.

”The real question now is why Ms. Rose was able to trigger the change in this key.”

An hour later, the black door slowly opened, and Black Rose staggered step by step, covered in injuries. Her right arm was gone, and her abdomen and chest each had two large holes, revealing various bionic parts. One eye flickered with electricity.

”Take this bionic body of mine back.”

After leaving these words, Black Rose ”crashed” completely.

Once the four major companies’ people left, Black Shadow re-emerged from the tabletop.

”The messenger won!” the young girl from the Miller Clan cheered.

”Uh, we made a deal. I helped her get the ’Nanobiology’ Destruction Form, and in return, she will join our side.”

The ”Main Races” looked at each other, so did he not win?
