Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 848: Chapter 16: Various Crises

The corporate will of the Holy Brain Group is rather peculiar, or rather, all large Biological Groups have odd corporate wills, and the Holy Brain Group is one of them.

The corporate will of the Holy Brain Group is actually a Brain-in-a-Vat.

If it weren’t for Gao Gong’s intervention, this Brain-in-a-Vat would have likely refined Ye the Big Lolita and advanced to become a Quasi-Gaia Will.

But before it could bare its fangs, it was rendered useless under the influence of a higher-level boss, the Memory Mother.

It proves that villains need to have self-awareness; not every villain is qualified to be the mastermind. When it’s time for you to appear, you don’t, and once the mastermind acts, you don’t even have a chance to appear.

So it’s no wonder Ye the Big Lolita is so pleased. While other corporations still need various methods to control their own employees, all the employees of the Holy Brain Group have been refined into the Brain-in-a-Vat by her. Any thoughts are entirely visible under her will.

For her group to have a traitor appear is exceedingly Difficult.

However, while she was basking in her triumph, Gao Gong suddenly grabbed her hand, and Gox’s Destruction Form ability, ’Mutant Fusion,’ unfolded. The next moment, every cell, every bone, every neural circuit in Ye the Big Lolita’s body seemed to have gained its own life force.

For a moment, it was as if billions of lives were simultaneously inserted into Ye the Big Lolita’s body.

”What do you want to do?” Ye the Big Lolita’s face turned purple-red, the surrounding environment seemed to be devoured by twisted Black Tide; however, she didn’t retaliate. Perhaps subconsciously, she knew the other party couldn’t harm her, or maybe she understood resistance would be futile; the opponent’s power was too exaggerated.

Gao Gong’s consciousness transformed into countless invisible hands, manipulating something within the other’s body, and he softly said:

”What if the one betraying the Holy Brain Group is the corporate will itself?”

Almost immediately after Gao Gong spoke, a Black Shadow was extracted by him, revealing itself to be another ’Ye the Big Lolita.’

This Ye the Big Lolita gave Gao Gong a resentful look and was about to flee, but Gao Gong wouldn’t let the other slip away. In an instant, fifteen forbidden lines on Gao Gong’s body vanished.

And just as the Dark Lolita intended to develop a Virtual Realm, this realm was swallowed by fifteen S-Level Radiation Beasts.

”I have dealt with the ’Brain-in-a-Vat’ before. Once it expands its Brain, it’s indeed somewhat Difficult to catch, but a Brain-in-a-Vat that hasn’t expanded its Brain is much easier to handle.”

Ye the Big Lolita’s face turned ashen, and she immediately ordered the secretary: ”Bring me all my itineraries and signed documents during this period!”

”Sure, sure,” the secretary nearly fainted with fright.

Soon after scanning through the electronic documents, Ye the Big Lolita was shocked to find she had signed three documents she didn’t remember, concerning the transfer of corporate assets and also a plan to create a ’Corporate Will Cultivator.’

If she were thinking straight, she wouldn’t revive the corporate will, that is, the ’Holy Brain.’

”Personality Reset doesn’t necessarily mean a dramatic change of heart; it’s entirely possible to create a second, third personality at an uninformed juncture. Well, I’m leaving.”

”Where are you going?” Ye the Big Lolita blurted out, then regretted it slightly, her face tinged with red.

”After inspecting your enterprise, I’m naturally off to the next one,” Gao Gong gave her a strange look, ”Isn’t the problem with your company resolved?”

Ye the Big Lolita was left speechless.

The task of ’Survey and manipulation of Super Corporations’ is ’Nightmare-level.’

Although ’Nightmare-level’ cannot compare to ’Hell-level,’ requiring transcendent combat power and Civilization Level forces to complete, the reason ’Nightmare’ is referred to as such is because it truly is a nightmare for the Player.

Imagine, if a Player took on this task, the first they’d have to deal with would be the top brass of ten Super Corporations. Even finding them would be extremely Difficult, never mind dealing with them, especially when bosses like Ye the Big Lolita exist, who wouldn’t easily trust you and wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Today’s Ye the Big Lolita isn’t the same wasted figure from the past; she remains a deity of the version.

But to Gao Gong, this task is exceedingly simple; the Authority of the Minister of Shell Mobile Division ensures Super Corporations on this planet show respect, and any ’Personality Reset’ ultimately manifests as the quantity of ’Memory Worms’ within the body, exposed under ’Divine Knowledge’s’ gaze.

To Gao Gong, this is a very straightforward task.

...

But to everyone else, the two tides of ’Personality Reset’ and ’Neurotheft’ are not the same.

The little Shota cautiously approached the window, glancing outside to see three or four corpses lying haphazardly on the ground, a gunman rummaging through them, glancing about while doing so, soon cursing under his breath and leaving.

In less than a week, the entire city turned into a ’large-scale chicken-eating scene.’

This ’chicken-eating game’ is an ancient game the little Shota heard about from his salty parents.

Given the current situation, the Neo-Human rebels of ’Personality Reset’ (as they call themselves), are rallying allies everywhere, forming all sorts of organizations seemingly overnight.

The cyber psychosis patients who underwent ’neurotheft’ became the best weapons for these rebels.

Resist or die, that’s the slogan of these rebels.

They broke into houses one by one, either you join them, or they kill you.

As if overnight, the social order was shattered.

Little Shota has already moved three times.

The first two times, Little Shota sensed something was wrong and left proactively, but this time was different.

In the shabby room, a middle-aged woman walked out wearily, her neck wrapped in a coagulated blood bandage, with many knife scars on her hands and body. Fortunately, her waist circumference was second only to her height, so the deepest cut just barely broke through the fat and did not take her life.

Inside the room was her husband, tied up tightly, the once happy-go-lucky middle-aged man now had bulging eyes and a face twisted with rage, much like an abusive man from a TV series.

”Damn, almost got overturned in the gutter.”

The middle-aged woman cursed.

It was an ordinary evening, and by the time she realized it, the knife had almost gone through her. Fortunately, her combat prowess was fierce, and she subdued this ’cyber psychotic’ husband.

”Isn’t it said only those with prosthetic bodies can get sick? When did those without get sick too?” The middle-aged woman limped over to sit next to Little Shota.

Seeing Little Shota’s hesitant expression, the middle-aged woman said nonchalantly, ”It’s nothing serious. Don’t worry, your mama here once roamed the streets. These little injuries are nothing.”

Although Little Shota was precocious, he hadn’t experienced much, and thinking of that nightmarish night still left him a bit shaken.

The middle-aged woman ruffled her child’s hair and said, ”I’ve thought it over. Your dad and I probably can’t go far. With your dad’s mental state, he can’t leave. Once outside, he’d be 100% noticed, and if we abandon him, in no more than two days, this old thing would become a ’dead soldier’. So you go ahead. Mom knows you can take good care of yourself, and we won’t leave. We don’t want to become a burden to you.”

Little Shota opened his mouth, feeling warmth in his eyes for some reason. After a long silence, he said, ”It’s not to that point yet.”

”I’m searching for a virtual street. Once I find it, we can hide.”

”You make sure to decide for yourself. You’ve grown up, and from now on, consider things more for yourself.”

The middle-aged woman took a deep breath, ”I can’t do it anymore, I need to go back and have a good sleep. Today’s lookout will have to trouble you.”

”Rest well, Mom,” Little Shota said, not knowing why, but feeling a heavy burden on his shoulders.

’Memory loss,’ ’neurotheft,’ his parents were constantly being hit, and Little Shota found it hard to imagine what would happen to their family if any wave of change came again.

Soon, the gentle snoring filled the room. For some unknown reason, upon hearing this snoring, which seemed to shake the ceiling, he felt at peace.

We must find that virtual street!

...

”Minister, the global situation is already vaguely out of control.”

A ’Five Shells’ Editor was reporting to Gao Gong on the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division’s sky carrier.

The Editor was the superior of the ’Business Investigator.’ Seemingly just an ordinary female employee, in fact, it was a unique artificial intelligence of the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division, this artificial intelligence neither had memory chips nor personality chips, it was firmly bound to the planet’s data system.

All data coming through the Mother City had to be edited by her, and it was with their assistance that Miss Ke could handle data quickly and safely.

According to the Editor, now the entire Cyber Test Field, nine out of ten Mechanical Cities had riots. Various rebel organizations were emerging like mushrooms after rain, sweeping all the ’artificial data’ like a flood.

”What does the Mother City say?”

The Six Ministries is merely the Inspector Department, primarily tasked with maintaining order, so suppressing insurgents was naturally up to the rulers.

”Ms. Deep Web is unreachable; the Fortress Elder has read without replying. As for General Cybertron, he suggests a comprehensive cleanup of all artificial data on this planet.”

”...”

Gao Gong was silent for a while, then said, ”Impressive, I admire it.”

Deep Net can’t handle anything, the Fortress is playing Werewolf Killing, and as for Cybertron, he’s as reckless as hell, going directly for a global sweep. Do you have the military for that? You can’t even suppress the war, let alone think about anything else.

No wonder the three Mother Cities collapsed so quickly in the last life, none of them was reliable.
