Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 777: Chapter 301: Ascension Talent

Early the next morning, a shocking piece of news rocked the ’Mechanical Split Star’ forum.

[The Big Data Conceptual Body ’Prosthetic Giant’ has fallen, on this planet, all implanted prosthetic attributes -20%, duration: unknown]

’Holy crap, are you kidding me! Does that include all prosthetics, even the network implantation chamber? I was just about to farm some AI!’

’This is not scientific, isn’t this planet climbing the industrial technology tree? How can a boss’s death lead to bugs in other industrial products? It’s downright contradictory!’

’By the way, what is the Prosthetic Giant? What level of boss is that?’

’I have seen it once.’

’And then?’

’No then, I got one-shotted as soon as I met it. At the time of death, a debuff labeled ’Prosthetic Forbidden Zone’ flashed on my screen, meaning in its presence, no implanted prosthetics could be used.’

’Holy crap, it’s that strong?’

’How did such a strong monster die just like that?’

’Damn, I finally found a virtual fragment and was about to farm monsters there, but just at a critical moment, all prosthetics got debuffed, and I died and returned to town.’

From the perspective of Mechanical Split Star, this was the last gap before the Cyber Tide.

And from the players’ perspective, it was probably a very blissful time.

The fusion of virtual and reality, ’monsters’ refreshing everywhere, these half-information half-physical monsters, not only can hackers hack into them, but conventional weapons can also cause damage.

Especially some ’virtual fragments’, which are simply monster nests, and after one farming session, it’s possible to level up once or twice.

Now not only frontline players are reaching level 30, but also the ordinary players are starting to reach level 30.

So when this debuff appeared, players lamented across the land.

And Gao Gong, who was on an advanced flying device, saw this news as well, and for a long time did not recover, and finally couldn’t help but curse:

”There really exists such an idiotic being in the world!”

He was 100% sure that the fall of the Prosthetic Giant today was definitely related to his notification from yesterday.

According to that dead fellow’s mindset, it was likely thinking, what can a mere wild sect virtual god do to me? You asked me to avoid it, so I just have to meet it.

It went A, and it got GG.

”Look on the bright side, your reminder, in conjunction with this fall event, will cause other Big Data Conceptual Bodies to become more cautious, the same incident won’t happen again.” Miss Ke comforted.

”Let’s hope so.”

”There’s still an hour before you reach the location for the Six Ministries Ministers’ meeting, can you make it?”

”No problem, transformation is more important than anything else.”

In front of Gao Gong, three strange pieces of equipment appeared: a needle, a metal button, and a round box.

These three pieces of equipment were special Martial God Armor that Gao Gong, using his ministerial authority, selected from the R&D department of the Six Ministries.

The needle is a ’Personality Anchor’, the button is called a ’Top Mechanical Lock’, and the box is a ’Reactor Consciousness Device’.

These three special pieces of equipment, respectively from Humanity Experiment Department, Prosthetic Registration Department, and Machine Consciousness Department.

The function of the three pieces of equipment is not much related to combat power, but in Gao Gong’s view, they are more reliable than any advanced weapon.

Personality Anchor (Tier 3): A high-level soul device created by the Humanity Experiment Department after hundreds of thousands of ’Virtual Personality’ trials. Once locked with this ’anchor’, the ’personality’ cannot split, and the attributes of consciousness and intelligence receive a substantial enhancement.

Note: When your whole person gets serious, the sky blueness, the clouds turn white, and the lustful becomes non-lustful.

Lustful... still needs to be lustful, but serious also needs to be serious.

Gao Gong’s ’Biological Computer’ stores various personalities, if not a hundred, then eighty, although usually harmless, once something happens, it’s a big deal, going mad is inevitable, and it’s possible to cause a personality grand melee.

And for players going the mechanical transformation route, the ’Personality Anchor’ is also a small divine artifact, meaning they don’t have to worry about cyber psychosis and can transform crazily.

For NPCs on the mechanical route, even more so, if players get cyber psychosis, they may only be unable to go online for half a day, but for NPCs, it’s a standard nightmare, meaning a significant reduction in life expectancy, while turning into a killing machine that recognizes no kin.

Gao Gong picked up the ’Personality Anchor’, gave it a gentle shake, the needle tip directly extended by half, and then slowly inserted it into the Yuzhen Acupoint at the back of the head.

[You have implanted Tier 2-Epic level equipment ’Personality Anchor’, system determining—]

[Your Neural System Transformation Rate is 18%, determination successful]

[Your compatibility with this equipment is 73.1%]

[As the Minister of Six Ministries, you automatically inherit from the Humanity Experiment Department]

As the needle went in, Gao Gong felt his consciousness focus rapidly, and finally, not only his consciousness but also his soul, all were pierced by this needle into the Yuzhen Acupoint, the consciousness seemed to bundle into one, with no possibility of leaking.

According to ancient superstition standards, it is called Divine Knowledge Perfection, Golden Body No Leak, ’no leak’ is a good word.

[Transformation successful, your intelligence +100 points]

[Transformation successful, your consciousness +1000 points]

[Your Neural System Transformation +17%]

[Your Circulatory System +3%]

[Additional State: Information Golden Core]

Information Golden Core: Scientifically cultivating immortality, boundless mana, in ’Golden Core Mode’, external information can’t enter the body circulation, similarly, internal biological information can’t leak out.

[Your consciousness is 2077 points, consciousness breakthrough thousand points, randomly grants one talent, consciousness breakthrough two thousand points, randomly grants one talent]

[Your intelligence is 340 points, breakthrough three hundred points, randomly grants one talent]

[The system detects a 51.5% probability of resonance among the three talents, do you want to resonate (after successful resonance, it will synthesize a Tier 4 Ascension Talent)]

Holy crap, Ascension Talent!

Is there even anything to say? Without a second thought, I chose resonance.

In an instant, Gao Gong’s consciousness seemed to fly out, passing through the radiation layer, reaching outer space. A cool sensation emerged from his eyes, and looking around, there were two armed space stations, one of which had the name ’Tabor Defense’ on it.

In another instant, all the vision descended from the sky, like a sudden awakening, pouring deep into the brain, where the ’Personality Anchor’ resided.

[You have acquired Tier 4 Ascension Talent - Divine Knowledge]

Divine Knowledge (Tier 4): Effect 1, you can peer into the true nature of all information life forms; Effect 2, combined with the ’Investigation’ skill, no matter the level of the enemy, you can randomly probe one of the enemy’s attributes.

If it weren’t for the coincidental overlap of three talents, this kind of luck wouldn’t have come knocking!

At this moment, Gao Gong was left speechless, except for saying awesome.

As they say, fewer words mean stronger attributes, which means Gao Gong can probe one of an opponent’s attributes even if they are Tier 9 life forms.

In the battlefield, this is incredibly useful!

Gao Gong looked down, and once again a ’cool’ sensation emerged in his eyes. Then, where his sight passed, his body visibly became transparent.

Then Gao Gong saw ten transparent worm eggs hidden within his body, with half of them already nurturing little worms, slowly wriggling inside him.

Memory Worms!

Compared to maggots, Memory Worms are much cuter. They have no legs or feet, resembling transparent agate stones. But when they burrow into your brain matter, the scene instantly becomes horrifying.

Looking at the two little worms in his brain matter, Gao Gong’s mouth twitched slightly, and he turned off the entire ’Divine Knowledge’.

As information life forms continuously ascend, the entities manifest in two extremes: either extremely beautiful, making you fall in love at first sight, or the kind you can’t bear to look at, inducing madness with just one glance, like something out of Cthulhu mythos.

”At this point in time, acquiring this kind of Ascension Talent is like finding a pillow when you were sleepy.”

If you can’t ’see’ the Memory Mother, you wouldn’t even know what it’s doing.

Now this trouble is finally resolved.

...

The surprise of the first special Martial God Armor was so overwhelming that when the second ’button’ was implanted, it felt a bit underwhelming.

Even though during selection, this ’button’ was once ranked ahead of the other two pieces of equipment in importance.

This button is called the ’Top Mechanical Lock’. Its function is very singular, to ’lock’ the body’s condition.

In the literal sense of locking, regardless of your state, even in extreme conditions like imminent death, cyber psychosis, or physical disintegration, this ’mechanical lock’ can hold it in place.

In an ideal state, it could even lock the ’rejection of abnormal mode’.

This is immensely important.

This ’Top Mechanical Lock’ is also installed on the head, but not at the back of the head—rather, on the forehead.

The next moment, the ’button’ began to transform, first burrowing into the skin, then expanding within the inner dermis, covering the skin, encapsulating the bones, wrapping around human organs, and even decomposing iron elements to the cellular level.

[You have implanted Tier 2-Epic level equipment ’Top Mechanical Lock’, system evaluation in progress—]

[Your circulatory system transformation rate is 18%, surpassing 15%, evaluation successful]

[Your compatibility with this equipment is 83.1%]

[As the Minister of the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division, you automatically inherit the ’Memory Supervision Department’]

With a light ’click’, Gao Gong first tensed up, then returned to normal.

[Transformation successful, your ’circulatory system transformation rate’ +25%]

[Transformation successful, your ’endocrine system transformation rate’ +15%]

[Your mechanical body gains the ’Top Mechanical Lock’ function]

Top Mechanical Lock: This was originally a top-notch containment function, preventing some super hackers, super mutants, and criminal executives from changing life forms and escaping the memory prison, but in your hands, it seems to have another use.

Gao Gong glanced at the ’Mechanical System’.

Mechanical Rejection: 1200

Limit: 25% + 50% + 50% + 75%

Personal Mechanical System: 191% (Mechanical Transformation)

Sports System: 78% (Mechanical Transformation)

Neural System: 31% (Mechanical Transformation)

Endocrine System: 18%

Circulatory System: 43%

Respiratory System: 9%

Digestive System: 3%

Urogenital System: 2%

Reproductive System: 7%

”Almost there, just 9% remaining, only this last one left.”

Gao Gong picked up this last ’box’, and as he held it, the ’box’ began to transform automatically, turning into a prototype ’Reactor Mechanical Suit’, then patted it onto his chest.

Done!
