Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 752: Chapter 276: Old Hunter

”So that’s what it was about!”

Previously at the Knight’s High Ground, Gao Gong encountered several big pit ’Mechanical Terracotta Warriors’. These warriors seemed to be at a relatively low level, probably around level 20, not even as good as the average Mechanical Guard. However, when they moved together, their attribute panel forcibly triggered a boss template.

It’s important to know that ninety-nine percent of NPCs don’t have such a template, yet each of those ancient mechanical warriors was equipped with one.

At the time, Gao Gong thought it was some kind of black technology of the Knight Order, but when he obtained all the technical information, he was stunned to find that there was no such technology.

He wanted to consult ’War’, but he figured that War might not pay attention to him. If he were to sneak into the ’Information Ocean’ again, without the ’Rewind System’ as leverage, this ’Number Two’ would definitely make a move against him.

Thus, the matter was left unsettled.

However, when the ’Civilization Traits - Emperor’s Imperial Guard’ was illuminated, Gao Gong understood that this had nothing to do with ’War’, but was rather a legacy left by Great Xia.

Civilization Traits - Emperor’s Imperial Guard:

The ultimate limit of deep modification is not to transform oneself into a pure mechanical life, but to become a super modified warrior equipped with ’wetware’. Under the function of the same type of wetware, super modified warriors will master the power of ’collective transformation’. They will become the Emperor’s most loyal guards and the most powerful expansion machines.

Activation Condition: Emperor’s Might

Below the ’Emperor’s Imperial Guard’ were images of a ’Steel Torrent’. Three-meter-tall super soldiers were shredding all living things, with massive, vein-bulging muscles, and lethal mechanical hunting weapons tearing extraterrestrial beings into pieces.

Ten as one

A hundred as one

One is an entire legion!

Gao Gong directly closed the holographic screen and fell into deep thought.

”Wetware, cloning technology, modified bodies, and reproductive entities, so that’s what it was about.”

The boss template was indeed activated by the Emperor’s Might, which is a confirmed fact.

However, the specific technology of the ’Imperial Guard’ is far more complex than this.

First is ’wetware’. The official definition is ’people (programmers, operators, managers) closely connected with computer software and hardware systems, and the human neural system connected with the system’.

It’s similar to biological chips but is more complex than biological chips.

Biological chips are equivalent to a supplement to the brain.

While ’wetware’ refers to removing the entire ’neural system’ from the human body, creating a hybrid entity.

It’s like the tripe soaked in hot pot, after being cooked, leaving nothing but a pot of thick broth.

It’s also the core of the ’Emperor’s Imperial Guard’.

’Imperial Guard’ is not a technology but closer to a technological standard.

To become an ’Imperial Guard’, prosthetic bodies must be of the same type and model; reproductive bodies are similar, and certain parameters of clone components must also be standardized.

With such standardized production and assembly, the ’Imperial Guard shells’ are manufactured.

Then comes the most crucial step.

’Wetware’ is implanted into an ’Imperial Guard shell’, and the perception system is connected with all ’clone components’, ’bionic systems’, and ’reproductive organs’.

Just like playing a ’strategy’ game, where one can control an entire army.

And those hundreds or thousands of ’Imperial Guards’ are essentially a single person.

Controlled by the ’Emperor’s Might’, this person integrates all ’Imperial Guards’ into a single life system, which is then integrated into the entire alliance’s industrial system.

Thus, the ’boss template’ was born.

Its ’boss template’ cleverly borrows from the alliance leader’s template.

The Biological Hunter follows the carbon-based Seed Burst route.

The Mecha begins to scale up and militarize.

Thus, the path of the Mechanical Hunter becomes clear, a professional hunting ’elite legion’.

A single-member legion!

”Let’s gather some old comrades again,” Gao Gong muttered to himself, ”These old folks shouldn’t mind having a hundred more battle shells to themselves.”

...

With a command from someone, the Old Hunters at various military bases across the planet received the news of recruitment.

In a weapon production base, a bald man with heavily modified hands and feet, looking fierce, was sitting on an energy cannon, slowly stroking a mechanical blade. The person and the blade formed an indescribable balance.

Even without drawing the blade, the overwhelming evil qi was palpable.

At this moment, his communication device rang, and Swordsmen Tamil picked it up with a grim face. He hated being interrupted during his blade practice.

However, when he saw the message on the communicator, his eyes lit up suddenly.

”The leader is calling again!?”

...

Meanwhile, in the Iron Sand Desert, at Flame Pass, a young man chewing on a toothpick was lying on the roof, resting his head on his hands, with half of his head already fully mechanized.

With his thoughts, a flock of birds flew over the pass, and with another thought, they flew back, even passing over his head.

When the ’birds’ flew over his head, it became clear that these were not ’birds’ at all, but thousands of drones.

So many drones were controlled by this young man as if they were his limbs, but after playing for a while, he sighed.

”What’s the point of playing with these little things,” the pilot complained, ”Compared to surveillance, they’re not as good as the Heaven Net system, and as for fire detection, they’re not as good as the Mechanical Eyeliner. When it comes to fighting, forget about blowing up a large mecha; I would be thankful if it could blow up a medium-sized one. Useless, absolutely useless.”

As the highest military commander of Flame Pass, although it seems like I have great power, and indeed I do, the ’Pilot’ still feels a bit downtrodden.

The progress in strength can’t keep up with the version updates, and that’s the root of the frustration.

”Back when I drank with those Old Hunters, I would laugh at those old guys for complaining every now and then about how they couldn’t keep up with technological advancements, as if they deserved to be eliminated.”

The ’Pilot’ shook his head, sighing, ”But now, when it’s my turn to be phased out, standing around talking without the pain in the waist is no longer an option.”

The new generation of Hunters relies on prosthetic implants and eradication modifications to become strong characters from the last version.

However, with the development of mecha technology, especially the ’Unmanned Mecha’, the characters from the last version were decisively eliminated, and quite rapidly too.

How long does it take to train a top-tier Mechanical Hunter? One year, two years, three years?

But how long does it take to produce a large mecha? Sorry, just one hour, and even more sorry, in the future it will only take half an hour.

And for a top-tier Hunter, how high is the elimination rate? One in a hundred, one in a thousand, one in ten thousand.

And if the mecha was intelligent, it would tell him, what’s the point of choosing anyone, I am not only mass-produced but also fully equipped, while you are just a manually tweaked youth version, what a joke.

Of course, you might also say, I have years of hunting experience, from F-level to B-level, and I even dare to touch the whiskers of an A-level.

Then, the Artificial Intelligence expert in the alliance would look at you with a dumbfounded expression and tell you there is something called a ’Combat Chip’ with a learning ability a hundred times yours.

Then you say again, I can also install a chip, I too can be mass-produced.

Then, the Mechanical Expert would earnestly tell you, a mass-produced mecha can be equipped with an energy cannon, one shot could blow a B-level Radiation Beast to smithereens, while you, this small build, do you have a squirt gun?

Then the pilot was obsolete.

Fortunately, Du Gao Technology has always taken care of its elders, those who can fight are on the front lines, those who can’t go to logistics, and if that’s not enough, there’s always retirement.

So, the pilot, wandering around, once again came to the Iron Sand Desert ’Newbie Village’, taking up retirement work.

Basking in the sun every day, almost getting sunburned to death due to the high radiation levels.

While lost in thought, a communication suddenly came through.

”Who wants to drink with me this time?”

The pilot lazily glanced at it, not having read the content, but just seeing the sender, and immediately jumped up.

Awoken in shock from a dying illness!

...

At a ’Biological Research Institute’ under Du Gao Technology, a group of people walked in.

”Hello, I am Xiaoyu, a representative from Mr. G Research Association, and I’m here on behalf of Professor Han to deliver ’Virtual Helmets’ to you.”

”Oh, hello, please come in.”

A biological researcher quickly led them in.

Xiaoyu curiously looked around and found many writhing red fluids in several bulletproof glass cabinets, moving as if they had signs of life.

Xiaoyu even felt the faintest of gazes.

”Reproductive Life.”

Xiaoyu muttered to herself and then asked the researcher:

”I remember this type of experiment was suspended for a while, right?”

”That’s correct, it was only recently restarted, and all of us were transferred here recently as well.”

”Why was it stopped before?”

”I’m not sure, it seemed to be due to some experimental accident.”

”And why was it restarted?”

”Apparently, thanks to a batch of valuable biotechnological materials delivered by your research association, don’t you know?” the researcher asked.

”I really don’t know.”

”Recently, a bunch of biological experts have come to the headquarters, many of whom are globally renowned, the headquarters had to find them something to do,” the researcher paused, ”You guys wait here, I’ll go notify my boss.”

Xiaoyu looked around curiously like a baby, soon noticing a pale-faced young man quietly reading a book. This young man seemed to have a unique charm, and she involuntarily walked over and initiated a greeting:

”Hello, are you a new researcher as well?”

The pale-faced young man lifted his head, glanced at her, and shook his head.

”Then who are you?”

”I am the research subject.”

Xiaoyu then looked at the surrounding ’Reproductive Lives’, forced a smile, and took a step back, ”You aren’t a Reproductive Life, are you?”

”No, I am a Biological Hunter, my name is White Bone.”

Xiaoyu sighed in relief, saying, ”So you’re a Hunter, then why are you here?”

”There’s a problem with my body, it can’t complete Carbon Fusion, so I’m here for research.”

”A Biological Hunter, unable to complete Carbon Fusion? You aren’t one of the Old Hunters, are you?”

Xiaoyu’s eyes lit up, the Old Hunters have always been a legend within Du Gao Technology. It’s said that during the early days of the alliance’s development, they were the most formidable hunting organization. However, as the alliance developed, these Old Hunters gradually left the stage and vanished, which is why the legend of the ’Old Hunters’ exists.

White Bone looked at her calmly, then lowered his head and continued reading.

And then, soon, the sound of the communicator sounded.
