Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Just as Second Uncle was putting down the radio and thinking, Li Yu, as usual after inspecting the perimeter wall, entered the duty room.

Seeing Second Uncle in a daze, Li Yu curiously asked, ”Second Uncle, do you have something on your mind?”

Second Uncle snapped out of his thoughts and turned his head to see Li Yu coming in.

He spoke up, ”The Fifth Satellite City hasn’t been in contact for three days, I don’t know what’s going on.”

”What about the Fourth Satellite City? Have they managed to get in touch?” Li Yu asked.

Second Uncle shook his head and said, ”The Fourth Satellite City got in touch, but Xu Taishan said they lost contact with the Fifth Satellite City three days ago. It’s very likely already overrun by zombies.”

”Additionally, many people died over there in the Fourth Satellite City, and those remaining have retreated into the buildings. It’s unclear how long they can hold out.”

Li Yu took off his raincoat, shook off the rainwater, and hung it behind the door.

The duty room had only Second Uncle inside; everyone else was on the perimeter wall outside. Li Yu had encountered them when he came in.

Li Yu sat on the chair and poured himself a cup of hot water, took a couple of sips, and said, ”We’ve done everything we should and shouldn’t have done; their survival or demise depends on themselves.”

Upon hearing this, Second Uncle nodded, thought for a moment and said:

”Indeed, you’ve had Guo Peng leave some of the exchanged food for them, which is generous enough.

It’s worth saying your method is quite clever.

Keeping it quiet to avoid objections from those older cooperative personnel, and once this natural disaster passes, those older cooperative personnel can enter the base for shelter, ensuring safety is not a concern, at least they can survive.

As for those new cooperative personnel outside, letting them in isn’t very secure, but ignoring them completely seems somewhat cold-blooded.

Letting them into the Satellite City, giving them some food, the chance to survive is theirs to take, whether they can endure depends on themselves.”

Li Yu put down his cup and said, ”Hmm.”

He didn’t say more; some things are not suitable to say out loud.

In fact, besides what Second Uncle mentioned, he had other considerations.

He had long known this rain wouldn’t just last a day or two, and even if those in the Satellite City could resist zombies, in the end, food issues can’t be solved.

If they couldn’t successfully resist the zombies and died, then there’s nothing else to think about.

But if they did resist the zombies, face hunger, and then discovered the food at that point, the new cooperative personnel would feel they survived because there was food, hence a sense of gratitude.

In short, you didn’t die because of me, after all I have no reason to save you, but you lived solely because of me.

Meanwhile, this is also a test to select some suitable people to join the Big Camphor Tree Base.

They decide how to distribute that food, and if conflicts arise from this, it’s their own fault.

But if they can resist the zombies and distribute the food well, unite a bit, then there’s a good chance they can survive.

However, if when zombies are about to overrun, they can’t even manage food distribution and start fighting over it, even if they survive, joining the Big Camphor Tree Base in the future would be a potential risk.

Li Yu wants not just capable people, but more importantly, people without character issues.

Thinking about it, Li Yu stood up and walked over to the map on the wall to take a look for a while.

Pointing to several drawn circles on the map, he said:

”Second Uncle, once this natural disaster ends, hurry up and repair the bunkers, when I came over just now, I saw those bunkers were flooded.”

Second Uncle nodded and said, ”Alright, I’ll talk to Ding Jiu later, and have him speed up.”

The two chatted randomly for a while in the duty room, and then Li Yu left.

....

Time flows like water.

The torrential rain continued for another ten days.

Fifth Satellite City.

Inside and outside the perimeter wall, zombies were everywhere.

Hiding in the interconnected rooms on the right side of the small building on the second floor of the central structure, it’s unbearably smelly.

Though their food was not a problem, dozens of people squeezed into the cramped rooms had no way of dealing with the waste, and could only designate an area, but the room was too small and a foul odor permeated the entire space.

The zombies outside continually banging against doors and windows made it hard for them to sleep, making their already weak bodies even more exhausted over the ten days, looking neither human nor ghostly.

The people outside had either turned into zombies or were eaten to the bone.

....

Big Camphor Tree Base.

First Outer City, ever since Old Dong helped set up the zombie generator last time, he often daydreams, occasionally speaking to himself.

As Old Dong’s wife, Kong Shuang, seeing the old Dong became eccentric after returning from the Third Outer City, was naturally very curious.

She asked twice, and Old Dong dodged the questions both times.

Kong Shuang understands Old Dong’s temper, naturally, if Old Dong doesn’t want to tell, he has his reasons.

Moreover, being a smart woman herself, she guessed that Old Dong’s silence is likely because the base’s leadership doesn’t want him to speak.

Some things others want you to know, you can know; if they don’t want you to know, knowing would not only be fruitless but would bring negative consequences, so she stopped asking.

Ever since Old Dong learned about the top-secret zombie generator in Big Camphor Tree Base, his authority granted by Li Yu increased, conveniently allowing him to utilize his expertise as an electricity expert.
