Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

After the distribution was complete, Tui Zi hurriedly picked it up, ignoring the scorching heat of the porridge, and drank the hot porridge in large gulps.

The porridge was scorching, burning his tongue with each mouthful, but he didn’t care.

Due to the addition of black pork, there was an oily taste in the porridge, making An Sheng feel the urge to weep in delight; it was so damn delicious.

The porridge included rice, sweet potato, and black pork, making it very comforting to eat.

But no one was talking, all focused on drinking their porridge.

In less than two minutes, they had gulped down the entire pot of porridge.

The remaining steel pot still had some porridge sticking on it.

But Brother Chen had always been fair in his actions.

Even if it was just a single grain of rice, as long as he had it, he’d share it equally with the brothers.

Brother Chen simply poured the brewed wild tea into it and divided it again.

The spoonful of porridge wasn’t enough for them to eat; only the tea could fill their stomachs.

A bowl of porridge, a bowl of hot tea going down the stomach.

The stomach finally felt something, a warm comfort spreading through the body.

After drinking the porridge, fatigue surged like a tide, and Tui Zi leaned directly on the wood pile behind him, half-squinting and breathing heavily.

Brother Chen got up to close the door and added some pine oil to the fire pile, making the flames larger, hoping to provide more warmth.

On such a windy and rainy night, the four of them escaped death from the zombies and managed to find such a refuge, truly a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.

.....

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The continuous heavy rain was nothing new to them.

Though precautions were taken, rainwater still flooded into the originally incomplete bunker during the downpours.

Li Yu didn’t care much upon learning this news; bunker construction wasn’t a short-term affair. After this natural disaster ended, they’d still have to continue.

Flooding now doesn’t really affect anything since it’s not completed yet.

If it were completed and then flooded, it would be a huge problem.

After the zombie generator was repaired and upgraded, Li Yu didn’t have much to handle these days.

Sometimes he patrolled by the walls, other times he rested inside the Inner City.

In this weather, the rest is plentiful and justified.

However, as zombies stayed longer in the rain, their agility increased a lot, forcing them to activate the second switch blade.

The combination of the zombie generator and mobile switch blade provided strong protection for Big Camphor Tree Base.

Neither can be missing, one provides power, the other converts the power into mechanical force, continually chopping down zombies with the sharp blades.

First Outer City.

Guo Peng, looking worried, said to Zhu Xiao, ”Old Zhu, why won’t Director Li let us inform those people?”

”Anyone with eyes can see such an obvious place, right? Besides, this matter shouldn’t be publicized, or else how would the old cooperative personnel feel?

We owe them nothing, their distribution is their own business.

Perhaps Director Li has some deeper reason for doing this.”

”What do you mean?” Guo Peng asked, eyes curious.

Zhu Xiao pondered, pretended to be profound, and slowly said, ”Haven’t thought of it.”

”Nima.” Guo Peng was speechless and didn’t continue talking.

.....

Time flows like water.

Ten days passed in a blink.

During these ten days, five surrounding satellite cities sent multiple SOS signals, but they could only assist the three nearby ones.

Using heavy artillery to bombard zombies outside their walls reduced the pressure on them.

As for the Fourth and Fifth Satellite Cities, the distance was too great, beyond reach.

In these satellite cities, everyone’s choices were different, but the key was the protests that erupted earlier were mainly at the new cooperative personnel near the Fifth Satellite City.

So, sometimes fate works in mysterious ways.

.....

Fifth Satellite City.

The walls have already been breached.

The whole building seemed like a cake that rolled into sugar, covered in sugar.

The sugar is the zombies.

Zombies surrounded the entire building, continuously striking doors and windows, some even clambered to the rooftop and started descending stairs, only to be blocked by the items stacked on them.

If zombies were intelligent and carried these away, everyone inside would be done for.

But zombies have no intelligence, only continuously roaring and rushing down. The stairs here didn’t face much of a problem.

During this period, the windows were almost broken, but their desperate blocking efforts kept the breach at bay.

Now, a huge problem faces some groups: food is running out.

Without sufficient food supplementation, they’d lack strength, making it hard to hold the planks and iron sheets, zombies might break in.

Feng Lihou was pale-faced, looking at his subordinate leaning against the planks, collapsed on the ground.

Weakly, he asked, ”Do you have anything to eat left?”

”No, I ran out of food long ago.” Big Mouth quickly responded.

Feng Lihou lifted his eyelids, weakly saying:

”It’s been raining for half a month, if this goes on, with food scarcity, our group will be completely out of food. As we grow weaker and eventually unable to block the zombies, we will face certain death.”

Big Mouth’s eyes flickered, asking, ”Then, what are we supposed to do?”

”Two people already died from fever upstairs; if we want to persist, we must...” Feng Lihou didn’t finish his sentence, but his message was clear.

”But, isn’t doing this the same as the Southeast Asian people did back then?” Big Mouth said hesitantly, eyeing evasively.

A man sitting on the ground, hearing their words, said, ”To stay alive, we have no other choice.”

Feng Lihou pondered and said, ”How about we establish an agreement, where we decide not to harm each other, eating only those who die, and agreeing to let others eat us if we die?”

”Count me in.” Big Cat said, appearing from somewhere.

Big Mouth lowered his head, heading upstairs.

Feng Lihou watched his back, eyes deep in thought.

He moved and discussed with Big Cat how they should proceed appropriately.

Big Mouth left Feng Lihou’s group and returned to the interconnected rooms on the second floor, where all his group members were.

They seemed in better shape than Feng Lihou’s team on the first floor.

Big Mouth entered the first room and then moved to the second.

He slowly walked to the center of his group.

With a serious expression, he squatted down.

Softly, he said to everyone, ”Let me reiterate, don’t tell anyone about the food we’ve found here, understand?”

A nervous member nearby said, ”But this food was probably left by Big Camphor Tree Base for all of us... wouldn’t it be wrong to keep it to ourselves?”

Big Mouth’s eyes widened, his gaze sharpened.

”Too much talk from you, or do you want to not eat? Who knows how long this rain will last? If it continues another two months, what would we eat?”

”Ah Hui, keep a close watch with the brothers; everyone should stay in this large room and not go out. If zombies come in, shut the door immediately and block it with the iron rack next to it, we’ll stay inside.”

Ah Hui nodded, saying, ”Understood, don’t worry, I’m watching all the time; if anything goes off, I’ll shut the door immediately.”

Big Mouth nodded, recalling when, twenty days ago, upon entering the Satellite City, he led his group to the second floor.

Discovering sacks of food in the hall.

Without thinking twice, he immediately had his men move the food to this room on the right and covered it with luggage.

During meetings with Feng Lihou, he hadn’t mentioned this discovery to other groups.

Whether the food was left by Big Camphor Tree Base or accidentally forgotten, Big Mouth didn’t want to share with other groups.

Another mouth means less food.

Indeed, as the rain persisted so long, the food came into play.

Big Mouth slowly stood up, walked to the corner, and moved a mountain of luggage, revealing a corner of the burlap sack, his eyes gleaming.

”These foods must absolutely remain undiscovered by Feng Lihou’s group!”

Big Mouth murmured.
