Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

June 26th.

Four days until the typhoon reaches.

At this time, after lingering in the Philippines for a few days, the typhoon finally entered the South Sea.

The outskirts have already reached Guangdong Province.

Fierce winds and rain, waves crashing against the tide barrier.

Soon, the tides broke through the tide barrier, flooding into the coastal towns.

The super typhoon, like a plow, uprooted coconut trees and mango trees from the ground.

The dilapidated wooden shacks on the ground were directly overturned.

Whoosh, whoosh——

Several cars on the road were lifted by this super typhoon and then slammed heavily into a concrete residential building.

The walls of this building were smashed into a web of cracks.

Rumble——

The typhoon swept over, collapsing the already crumbling concrete residential building.

In an industrial park not far away, the panels and barricades in the factories were all blown into the sky.

The contents inside were scattered everywhere.

The sky was filled with a whirlwind, accompanied by torrential rain in the fierce wind.

The rain poured down in torrents.

Everywhere it passed was more chaotic than fields plowed by wild boars.

Under the heavy rain, the already low-lying areas had turned into lands of marsh.

.....

Big Camphor Tree Base.

Li Yu lay leisurely on the soft bed, resting. Despite his great physical strength, he felt a bit weary from the long journey.

Soon, he drifted off to sleep.

The next day.

Li Yu looked out the window, at the bright sunshine.

But he felt a bit anxious inside, at most three days.

The typhoon would arrive.

Thinking of this, Li Yu dragged his still tired body up.

He had to inspect the Big Camphor Tree Base once more to make sure everything was prepared. More importantly, he had to call back the personnel deployed around Xin City.

He was not in Gansheng at the time, and he had only roughly calculated the timing of the typhoon’s path at the beginning of July, allowing himself ten days more than when he was in Zhe Province.

No matter what, it’s always good to call people back early.

In case the typhoon hits and neither vehicles nor people can move through such intense wind and rain.

Especially with the omnipresent zombies.

Li Yu walked out of the room, and just as he came downstairs, he saw three grown wolf dogs come up to him, sniffing around.

Li Yu smiled and patted the heads of the three wolf dogs, then walked toward the door. The three wolf dogs followed him, and seeing this, Li Yu didn’t stop them, thinking that taking them out for a walk would be fine.

Thus, Li Yu walked in the Inner City, followed by three wolf dogs.

Li Yu first came to the greenhouse in the Inner City, standing outside it, he knocked on the load-bearing columns of the greenhouse with his hand, making a clanking sound.

He also checked the drainage ditch. A layer of cement was paved over it, and the rainwater could be drained into the sewer through the height difference.

He carefully inspected the PVC sun panels, with screws fastened at all four corners.

Then he went to check the farm, whose roof had been completely remodeled, looking entirely different from what Li Yu previously remembered.

Reinforced concrete structure, though it consumed materials, it was far sturdier compared to the previous shed construction.

After inspecting these two places that Li Yu cared the most about, he came to the wall.

”Second Uncle.” Li Yu climbed up the wall, as expected, Second Uncle was still in the duty room.

Looking at his dark circles, Li Yu asked with concern, ”Second Uncle, until what time did you organize those materials last night?”

Second Uncle massaged his back and said, ”Until three in the morning. My old back is really exhausted.”

”And you still got up so early, go and rest immediately.” Li Yu said, half angry, half amused.

Second Uncle shook his head and said, ”There’s a pile of stuff to handle. The Third Outer City is already built, and there are barely any resources left around Xin City. These Cooperative and Extra Staff members always need tasks.”

”Last time I heard you say to refrain from sending them on far-off assignments for a while. Well, I simply gave them a new task.”

”What’s the task?” Li Yu asked curiously.

”Forty kilometers away, there’s the largest local iron mine field. I plan to have people transport the equipment from the mine back to the base. Recently I want to set up an iron processing plant around the base.

Or maybe we could send people to take over the iron plant and restore the mine operations.”

Li Yu was silent for a few seconds; this sure was a massive endeavor.

Constantly searching for steel, but steel would eventually run out.

If he could control a mine and also achieve processing, it would naturally be better.

So Li Yu asked, ”Second Uncle, can that mine site directly do processing?”

Second Uncle nodded and said, ”Yes, that mine integrates mining, beneficiation, and smelting. I was also contemplating, moving the equipment from that mine would be too much, and pretty time-consuming. If we build a smelting plant nearby the base, it might be another massive project. My thought is to just process it over there.”

Li Yu nodded and said, ”Yeah, moving it here is indeed a huge issue.

I also suggest directly mining, processing, and smelting over there. It’s just, have you found suitable personnel for the smelting aspect?”

Second Uncle smiled and nodded, ”Of course, there are some Cooperative Personnel who were employees at that mine. It was when I saw their previous resumes that I came up with this idea.”

Li Yu felt relieved after hearing there were mining employees and said to Second Uncle, ”By the way, I brought back over a hundred people yesterday. If you have time, ask He Chao to register their information and see if there are any talents we can use.”

Second Uncle smiled and said, ”I know, I plan to talk to He Chao soon.”

After discussing these things, Li Yu pondered for a moment.

He continued, ”Additionally, I plan to recall all personnel stationed outside for a meeting. Let’s have them return today.”

Li Yu felt he needed a reason, otherwise there would be too many questions later, and explaining would be tiring.

So he came up with a reason, for the meeting.

After all, the stationed personnel have been out for so long without a proper meeting.

Second Uncle was a bit surprised and said, ”So sudden.

But with this, all our base’s external posts would be stopped, which feels not too good. How about we hold the meeting in shifts since we have a rotation system, starting with some people at the base, then hold another meeting for those who return later. What do you think?”

Li Yu shook his head and said, ”No, just ask them to come back.”

The farthest post from Big Camphor Tree Base is between Gan City and Xin City, about seventy to eighty kilometers away.

A single return trip could take over three hours.

These stationed personnel are largely a mix of Outer City personnel and Extra Staff, and even two Inner City personnel.

These people are very important to Big Camphor Tree Base.

Li Yu didn’t want them to perish in the typhoon and storm due to negligence.

Seeing Li Yu’s insistence, Second Uncle lowered his head in thought.

Previously, Li Yu ordered them to reinforce the buildings at Big Camphor Tree Base, thinking that stronger structures would do no harm but good, so Second Uncle and others complied.

Now suddenly saying to recall all personnel from outside posts.

Second Uncle couldn’t understand why Li Yu was doing this.

As for the meeting? Meetings can always be held in two batches, right? But recalling all at once, there’d be no one at the posts!

Second Uncle was perplexed.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Second Uncle still said, ”Alright, I’ll notify them now.”

Second Uncle wasn’t sure why, but it wasn’t the first time Li Yu had issued a seemingly strange order suddenly.

These orders always minimized the losses at Big Camphor Tree Base.

Perhaps this time too?

Second Uncle wasn’t sure, as the natural disaster had been a while ago.

But the disaster left a big shadow on him.

Li Yu watched Second Uncle take out the walkie-talkie and issue the announcement.

Sure enough, many stationed personnel were puzzled, as never before since the posts’ establishment had they been recalled when the weather was good.

Despite many doubts, upon hearing that it was Li Yu’s command, they asked no more, packed up immediately, and drove back to base.

Seeing Second Uncle issue the order, Li Yu exhaled lightly.

Now, he just needed to quietly wait for the typhoon to arrive.

Li Yu felt somewhat stifled, as he couldn’t share such matters with anyone but needed everyone prepared.

If not for his high authority at Big Camphor Tree Base, such complex factional dynamics would make it difficult to enforce the orders.

Li Yu walked along the wall, smoking a cigarette, noticing that in Second Outer City, residential buildings had their windows welded shut with steel plates.

Wind and rain couldn’t get inside.

Li Yu had considered building a bunker, but the scale of construction was too large.

In Second Outer City, there’s already a bunker about an acre in size, currently used as an underground plantation.

The construction took Li Yu considerable time and effort.

If he wanted to build a bunker the size of the nearby residential buildings, too many factors had to be considered.

First is the scale problem; digging a pit on the ground, if only a few meters deep, is unnecessary, but digging ten to twenty meters deep, in the Southern area, would likely hit water.

It could serve as a well.

Then water isolation is necessary, preventing seepage.

Just this step is very troublesome.

Next is the material issue; building a similarly sized bunker would use more than three times the materials than building above ground.

Then there’s the matter of greenhouse pavilions above; a sufficiently large bunker might be below them.

This requires removing the pavilion, completing the bunker, then rebuilding the pavilion.

If not, directly digging might collapse the upper pavilions.

Later, Li Yu simply changed approach, digging a cave in the Inner City’s forest.

Digging horizontally is easier than digging downward.

Thus there’s a five-acre cave in the mountain range in Inner City, also used as an indoor plantation.

Li Yu dispersed food cultivation to various places to spread risk.

He only had five years from his rebirth, uncertain about the future, so he aimed for thorough preparation.

Currently, in Big Camphor Tree Base, within Inner City’s residential buildings, there are two underground plantations each 2,000 square meters, both underground.

In First Outer City and Second, Third Outer Cities, there’s also one underground plantation each.

These are all built in basements.

Adding the Inner City’s forest mountain cave, these areas make up a quarter of the total cultivation area.

Took up quite a share.
