Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The whole day spent in the pitch-black bunker, the loneliness consumed him.

Although there’s no shortage of food, waking up each day felt like being a dead man.

He rummaged through the games his younger brother downloaded, clearing them one by one.

With only a dozen or so books, he’s read them over and over dozens of times.

He could now recite those few movies backward.

Boredom, boredom.

In his boredom, he tried drawing, and when he ran out of paper, he started drawing on the bunker walls.

Now the walls are covered with all sorts of drawings.

No day or night, he wakes up and gets up, eats when hungry, and sleeps after eating.

In the dim environment, he experienced hallucinations but then woke up from them.

However, these hallucinations are becoming more and more severe.

Once, someone passed by and asked for help, but he remembered his younger brother’s warning not to let anyone in.

But, two or three years after the apocalypse erupted, he had never spoken to anyone, now he doesn’t quite know how to talk anymore.

His courage has grown smaller, hair down to his shoulders, and the inside of the bunker is a complete mess.

His body is still alive, but his soul is half dead.

....

Although the underground bunker provided him with a safe environment, without sunlight, the claustrophobic loneliness and boredom can strangle a person.

So, from the beginning, Li Yu deeply recognized this.

Before Doomsday, he packed up several old bookstores in advance, bringing the most books for the least money.

He also collected and purchased discs from several audio stores. Moreover, he downloaded millions of movies, documentaries, variety shows, and more—everything he could find was backed up.

No one would do something so time-consuming, labor-intensive, and costly, except him.

Additionally, at the onset of the apocalypse, he led people from the base to start zero-cost purchases in the surrounding areas.

Before the floods submerged the city, he had cleared out the hospitals, hardware stores, and libraries, which took him a lot of time.

The collection work has not stopped even until now.

Now that Li Yu has activated the cooperative personnel mode, with the help of many cooperative personnel, they are also collecting all kinds of things, including some books and equipment that the Big Camphor Tree Base does not have.

These things may not seem very useful now,

but in the future, they will have profound significance.

Books, movies, variety shows, music, even games, are the mental nourishment that people need.

When people are hungry, they only think about how to fill their stomachs.

But once the basic needs for safety and food are met, they will naturally seek more.

Without books or entertainment, people will think all sorts of things, creating problems out of nothing.

Just like now at the Big Camphor Tree Base, there is a library, a gymnasium, and a large audiovisual room in the Inner City.

In the underground warehouse, there are even more sealed books.

For the Inner City Personnel at the Big Camphor Tree Base, books can be read for free, and there is a fixed day each week for movie screenings.

Extra Staff have more restrictions, and they can only borrow one book at a time, only to borrow the next one after finishing the current one.

Why do so many people from the Outer City want to enter the Inner City? Why do some people with children in the Outer City try their hardest to get their children into the Inner City?

Because there is a school in the Inner City.

As for the Cooperative Personnel and Extra Staff,

most of them are still thinking about filling their stomachs, so they aren’t bored, only thinking daily about how to complete tasks to exchange for food.

...

4:30 in the evening.

Xiu County.

By the time Li Yu arrived with a large troop, Li Tie and Ju Tianrui had already scouted several potential places around as transfer stations.

”Big Brother, I’ve seen it. The three places we originally selected, around G45 Road: the factory, the driving school, and that militarized management school.

The factory had collapsed perimeter walls and prefabs. Plus, the terrain there is quite low, and many parts of the walls have fallen. Not very suitable.

Let Ju Tianrui talk about the driving school since he inspected it.” Li Tie spoke while showing Li Yu the photos he just took.

Li Yu looked at the photos, nodded, then looked up at Ju Tianrui.

Ju Tianrui pointed across the road and said, ”The driving school is over there, roughly the same distance as the military school Li Tie visited, not even a kilometer away.

The driving school is similar to the one we have in Macheng, except this driving school’s perimeter wall is one meter shorter than that of the school, only two and a half meters high. The area is also smaller than the school’s.

We’ve checked both places. There are more Zombies hidden in the corners of the school, fewer in the driving school.

However, the dormitory building at the school is better preserved.

Both places have their pros and cons.”

Li Yu nodded and then asked Li Tie and Ju Tianrui, ”What’s your opinion? Which place is more suitable as a transfer station?”

Li Tie and Ju Tianrui exchanged a glance.

Li Tie spoke up, ”Ju Tianrui and I both agree that the school is more suitable. Although there are more Zombies, the environment inside is more suitable for our long-term transfer station.

While the driving school has fewer Zombies, it’s too rundown. Some buildings there have become dangerously unstable, and I feel it could collapse in a heavy rain.”

Li Yu flipped through the pictures on the phone Li Tie handed over.

These include pictures of the driving school, school, and factory plant.
