Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Although the bridge looks quite sturdy, some of their fully loaded trucks weigh tens of tons, and it’s uncertain if this bridge can hold up.

Each vehicle was spaced more than ten meters apart to distribute the bridge’s load.

One by one, the vehicles queued to cross.

Li Yu and his group were in the third vehicle to cross.

With an uneasy feeling, Li Yu occasionally stuck his head out of the window to check the condition of the vehicles behind.

Suddenly, Li Gang on the vehicle shouted to everyone, ”Look at the bridge surface!”

His tone was shocked, as if he had seen something horrifying.

At those words, everyone curiously looked towards the river surface on the right.

On the once-glittering river surface, there were now countless zombies floating and continuously swimming towards the bridge.

The bridge surface and the river below had a height difference of at least 70 meters.

Zombies love water, even more so when it’s raining.

In water, a zombie’s body becomes more agile.

Seeing this, Li Yu quickly reached out and said to Dapao, the driver, ”Stop the car.”

Screech—

The vehicle came to an abrupt halt.

Li Yu got out of the car and walked to the edge of the bridge, looking at the place where the bridge piers met the water below.

Underneath the piers, the water was filled with densely packed zombies.

These zombies struggled to climb up, but without leverage in the water and faced with the straight bridge piers, they could only crowd together futilely.

Li Yu took a glance and sighed in relief.

Quickly, he got back in the car and said, ”Go.”

Then he took out the radio to contact the convoy, ”This place is not safe, everyone speed up and leave.”

After speaking, he instructed Dapao to drive as fast as possible and quickly leave the bridge surface.

It seemed the commotion from their convoy had attracted the zombies underwater.

The zombies on the river’s surface were increasing, floating densely on the water, creating an extraordinary scene.

Li Gang, seeing this, quickly took out his phone and captured the scene on camera.

Before long, Li Yu and the others, the first group to get on the bridge, reached the other side of the river.

On the bridge, they encountered no issues, as the 70-meter distance from the water kept the zombies at bay.

Just then, Luo, responsible for the rear, contacted Li Yu via radio, ”Director Li, there are zombies coming ashore at the riverbank.”

As soon as he finished speaking.

Li Yu heard gunshots echoing from the opposite riverbank.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Li Yu’s heart sank.

Last time they crossed, they didn’t use this bridge and didn’t encounter such a situation.

But zombies in the water aren’t unheard of, nor is them coming ashore.

Why are they so unlucky today?

Could it be because there are more of them and more vehicles, making too much noise and attracting the zombies?

No matter, now isn’t the time to think about that.

Li Yu immediately contacted Luo, ”Luo, cover the vehicles crossing the bridge.”

Then he jumped to the drone screen to check the situation on Luo’s side.

From the north shore to where Luo and his team were, it was about 300 meters.

Most of the three to four hundred meters consisted of mudflats.

Recently, the weather was scorching, and the water level had dropped significantly. The muddy shore was a trap, and many zombies got their feet stuck in it, slowing them down.

However, the endless number of zombies couldn’t be thwarted. Along the long riverbank, there were zombies everywhere, even those originally gathered under the bridge piers were slowly making their way to the riverbank.

Luo and his team continuously shot and killed zombies, with over twenty people forming a web of firepower, bullets slanting towards the zombies trying to reach the shore from all directions.

”Quick! Get moving!” Luo shouted to the people in other vehicles.

”Get out of here, we’ll cover the rear!”

With a roar, Luo kept firing.

”Alright, Captain Luo, be careful.” Ahong, Zhou Tian, and the others quickly got back in their vehicles without lingering to help fend off the zombies.

Though they wanted to help, they knew there was no end to killing zombies here. It was better to leave early so that Luo and his team could also leave sooner.

.....

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Always sticking with Luo, Xiao Ding and Xiao Liu led small groups to block zombies on both sides of the bridge.

Under the gunfire, they kept the zombies fifty meters away from them.

Within fifty meters, there wasn’t a single zombie.

However, what terrified them was the increasing number of zombies on the river’s surface...

The number of zombies coming to the shoreline mudflats was also growing.

Originally, they crossed the bridge, drawing only a few zombies from beneath the bridge.

Previously, there weren’t many vehicles, so by the time they crossed, the zombies hadn’t reacted, and they had already left.

But now, with more people and vehicles, loaded with supplies, their speed slowed significantly.

Under continued gunfire, more zombies were drawn from the water.

Zombies within several kilometers of the river were all heading in this direction.

Drip drip, as zombies emerged from the water, their bodies dripped with water.

Just having emerged, they were quite agile.

Yet, under the scorching noon sun, the heat was oppressive.

Shortly after coming out of the water, the zombies slowed down visibly.

As if they were machines jamming from lack of lubrication.

They had many vehicles, so even if they sped up, it would still take time to pass through.

If Luo hadn’t decisively stopped to block the zombies, the latter vehicles would have certainly been stuck on the North Shore, unable to get on the bridge.
