Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Li Yu unfolded the map, looking at the locations marked with red circles on it.

There were several places originally circled in red and later crossed out. These were the transfer stations that everyone had considered and then abandoned.

Choosing a transfer station, in Li Yu’s view, is most important for being situated between the Big Camphor Tree and Oil City, with a nearly equal distance to both sides.

In this way, if everything goes smoothly, whether setting out from the Big Camphor Tree Base or Oil City, people can arrive here before nightfall.

After all, the most important function of a transfer station is to provide travelers between both sides a stable shelter.

Otherwise, if they can’t arrive within a day, they’ll have to find a place to stay for the night, which isn’t very meaningful, and it would be even more dangerous to travel at night.

Under this premise, everyone finally settled on two places: Wu County and Xiu County.

Ultimately, the choice was to stay in Xiu Shui.

One reason is that Route G45 provides a relatively straight path, minimizing detours, reducing travel distance, and saving time.

Secondly, Xiu County is farther from major rivers, so there should be fewer zombies around, and the transportation is more convenient.

Based on these two reasons, after voting, it was decided to establish the transfer station in this location.

After selecting the location, Li Tie and Dapao chose several suitable places here to serve as transfer stations.

The first priority was proximity to national highways, secondly having walls to reduce construction costs.

Thirdly, the location should be neither too small nor too large.

Lastly, it should not be in the county center but rather in the suburban or rural areas away from the city.

These requirements were met by a few options.

Such as a small industrial park on the outskirts of the county, driving schools, and some schools.

”This middle school looks good, it covers thirty mu, is a militarized management school, and isn’t far from G45. Just a 500-meter walk down this path, vehicles can pass here,” Li Tie said, showing the map on his iPad.

Before the apocalypse, Li Yu had downloaded a detailed map of the country, so even now without the internet, he could check it out.

Li Yu looked at this place and said, ”Good, the school is nice, the size is suitable, and it has dorms for overnight stays. But there’s a problem, schools typically have more zombies, and if there are many, we’ll spend a considerable time clearing them out.”

Dapao chimed in, ”Right, the factory I chose is good, a furniture factory, maybe we can find some furniture inside.”

”You’re dreaming. The flood has swept through, and the furniture must be ruined, surely unusable, likely all moldy and black,” Yang Tianlong mocked.

Embarrassed by Yang Tianlong’s jab, Dapao retorted, ”Then the driving school you picked isn’t suitable either, it’s so small, and from the cached images, it looks rundown.”

Li Yu put his hands up in the air and said, ”We’ll see when we get there; we’ll judge by firsthand observation. These might not be suitable at all.”

Li Gang, who was driving, didn’t join the discussion, quietly focusing on steering the vehicle.

The lead vehicle was an armored transport driven by Ju Tianrui, followed by Li Yu’s car, with Jackals and Ant trailing closely behind.

Further back were Xiao Jun and Zhong Chuchu, with Qingyang the little Taoist inside.

At this moment, he awkwardly rubbed his hands, somewhat embarrassed.

Gurgle——

Another stomach growl was heard.

Zhong Chuchu and others swiftly turned their eyes to him, Qingyang’s face flushed instantly, awkwardly explaining, ”Uh, sorry about that.”

Having only wild fruit last night and no chance to find food this morning, his stomach was growling with hunger.

If he were alone, he might have scavenged for edible wild plants in the forest.

But now, confined within the car, he couldn’t disembark, his embarrassment felt like his face was burning.

Finding it amusing, Zhong Chuchu reached into her backpack and offered him a bread cake without hesitation.

When building the Big Camphor Tree Base, she had stored some food, and during this trip, Li Yu provided her with all the food as per Outer City standards.

This journey was made possible thanks to Zhong Chuchu, who guided and brought people together, allowing the Old Oil City people to submit and begin operating the oil equipment, ensuring daily oil production.

However, she wasn’t an Outer City Personnel, just a cooperative personnel at the moment, hence food was equally precious to her.

Nonetheless, she generously offered it to him, knowing that if it hadn’t been for Qingyang guiding her towards the Big Camphor Tree Base, they wouldn’t have had this opportunity.

Returning kindness with kindness.

Feeling slightly embarrassed, Qingyang waved his hand, saying, ”It’s okay, once we stop, I can forage for food myself.”

With a laugh, Zhong Chuchu didn’t wait for him to reach out, she directly placed it in his lap.

”Eat it, no more nonsense,” Zhong Chuchu asserted in a big sisterly manner.

Swallowing his grievances, Qingyang accepted, gratefully saying, ”Thank you, Chuchu.”

Silently, he thought: This person is quite nice.

Apparently even in the apocalypse, there are bad people, but also good ones.

Waving it off, Zhong Chuchu said, ”Why be so formal? We owe it to you that we joined the Big Camphor Tree Base. If thanks are owed, it’s us thanking you.”

Shen Xiaoxiao nodded in agreement and patted Qingyang’s shoulder, ”Yes, Chuchu is right, eat the food.”

”Cough, cough.” Qingyang felt a bit sore from Shen Xiaoxiao’s heavy slap, indeed this physique wasn’t just for show, the strength was really powerful.

Speaking to this point, not eating would seem a bit hypocritical.

Moreover, yesterday he was rushing on the road, did not find much food along the way, only ate some wild fruits at noon and night, now smelling the aroma of the bread, he couldn’t resist anymore.

So he took a bite.

Dry, full of powder.

This bread, though not big, was very solid, so it was very filling. He ate slowly, occasionally opening the flask to drink two mouthfuls of water.

.....

Time passed slowly.

They weren’t heading directly to Big Camphor Tree Base, nor directly to the Xiu County they agreed on, but first to Macheng.

In Macheng, they encountered Ling Feng’s group in a driving school in the suburbs.

Ling Feng’s group provided Li Yu with some of the latest news about the Motorcycle Gang.

They also planned to take Ling Feng’s people with them after finishing here in Oil City.

After all, with more than seventy vehicles, loaded with a lot of supplies, their driving speed was not fast.

With so many vehicles, if the front cars drive too fast, the rear cars can’t catch up, and if something happens, it’s very troublesome.

There are too many robbers on the road during Doomsday.

Once someone is isolated, it is very dangerous.

Moreover, they are carrying so many supplies, a single vehicle is but a fat lamb to those robbers.

But when moving together, no one dared to rob them, after all, with so many people and such powerful firepower, if anyone dared to rob, Li Yu wouldn’t mind showing them why flowers can be so red.

Dragging a long convoy, two drones kept circling in the sky.

On average, every two vehicles had a walkie-talkie to maintain contact.

Vehicle speed slowed to 30~40 kilometers per hour, ensuring the rear vehicles could keep up.

During the journey, a vehicle encountered some minor malfunction for unknown reasons, causing the entire convoy to stop.

And this vehicle happened to be one of the military trucks they obtained from the military district, perhaps due to being stored in the depot for too long, it encountered some minor issues.

However, it was quickly resolved by everyone, taking less than fifteen minutes.

While dealing with this vehicle’s problem, Jiu Ge and others behind happened to see, he and the people with him were all from automotive repair backgrounds.

Jiu Ge especially, was a Level One Master Technician among years of automotive repair workers, considered the highest level in automotive repair, certified by the state.

With experience, Jiu Ge and his group simply inspected and quickly found the issue, swiftly resolved it.

Xiao Ding, driving this vehicle, truthfully reported all this to Li Yu via walkie-talkie.

After Li Yu learned of it, he felt appreciative, thinking on the way back to have Third Uncle register these cooperative personnel again, to see if there are any hidden talents among them.

Some specialties might seem inconspicuous, not needed in normal times, but once an issue arises, these specialties become very important.

Besides Jiu Ge and his group, there were others in the convoy capable of repairs, like the lathe operator who came along with Old Qin back then, and a few retired soldiers who were automotive repair soldiers in their past.

The Jackals and Ants also knew some repairs, though not as professional, small issues could be resolved.

However, for Big Camphor Tree Base, the more talents, the better.

The current Big Camphor Tree Base is in dire need of talent.

...

Proceeding like turtle speed, after the vehicle issue arose, the next few hours saw no more problems.

Time passed quickly, speed maintained around thirty-five kilometers per hour.

Four hours later.

At half past twelve noon, Li Yu ordered everyone to pull over by the roadside.

Rest for half an hour.

Have Ju Tianrui and others on alert, drones guarding above.

Everyone got off the vehicle to resolve personal matters, check the vehicle conditions, and add whatever needed adding.

Then eat something.

Inner and Outer City personnel had food quotas, and Old Huang’s group who came along still had some food from previous wall repairs.

Xiao Jun, sharing the same vehicle with Zhong Chuchu and Qingyang Taoist, found Li Yu.

Discussed the matter of Qingyang lacking food earlier and Zhong Chuchu providing it, and asked whether to allocate food to Qingyang.

Li Yu thought for a few seconds, then said: ”Same as Zhong Chuchu, allocate according to the road supply food standard.”
