Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Boom!

Gigantic waves swept over, completely engulfing the aircraft carrier, as traces of human presence seemed to still remain atop the carrier.

”OH, My God!”

With an exclamation, a blond-haired, blue-eyed man closed his eyes slowly in despair.

Boom!

The gigantic waves flipped the aircraft carrier, turning it completely upside down.

Countless zombies swam through the waters, sniffing out human scent, gnawing away.....

As time passed, a faint trace of red liquid began to spread in the sea.

After the typhoon, the already sparsely populated, powerless carrier drifted with the waves, leaving no one alive.

.....

Oil City.

After several hours, Li Yu and the others finally arrived here at half past three in the afternoon.

Watching the helicopter descending from the sky, Third Uncle rubbed his hands and stood up from the steps of the RV, walking towards it.

The helicopter landed slowly, settling in the marked area.

After the helicopter landed, Li Yu got off carrying the burlap sack filled with fruits.

He immediately saw Third Uncle and cheerfully said to him, ”Third Uncle, I haven’t forgotten what you wanted, I brought it for you.”

Third Uncle took it from Li Yu, a smile on his face, nodding and asking, ”Faster than I expected, looks like what you said on the military radio this morning, the aviation kerosene is sorted?”

Li Yu replied, ”Sorted. Speaking of which, Kong Shuang is quite capable, solving it in just a few days.”

As they talked, they walked towards the meeting room of a nearby house.

On the way there, Li Yu noticed the changes in Oil City, the straight road seemed to have been cleaned, appearing much cleaner.

The originally blood-stained walls of the surrounding buildings were no longer visible.

Most noticeably, at the former gate location, there’s now a massive steel plate iron gate.

Beside him, Third Uncle noticed Li Yu’s attention on the iron gate, shook his head and laughed, ”That gate was welded with steel plates over the past two days, though it doesn’t look good, it’s solid enough but too heavy, requiring three to four people to push or pull it open. Will upgrade it when there’s time later.”

Li Yu looked at the rough, heavy iron gate, thirty centimeters thick steel plates, indeed solid.

Third Uncle took out an apple from the burlap sack, wiped it, and took a big bite, laughing and saying, ”In a few days, the walls should be mostly repaired, and we can return to the Big Camphor Tree Base, coincidentally producing quite a bit of oil these days, those few oil tank trucks can haul it away.”

Li Yu looked at the direction Third Uncle pointed, asking, ”How many tons of oil can those tank trucks haul at once?”

Third Uncle thought for a moment and said, ”Old Qin said it can haul up to thirty tons. If these four tank trucks are filled, they can haul over a hundred tons at least.”

Li Yu, satisfied, said, ”Not bad, where’d you find these oil tank trucks? I didn’t notice them before.”

Third Uncle spoke, ”In that factory warehouse, we didn’t look carefully before, later we uncovered them.”

The two entered the meeting room, where Old Bi was holding a pen, scribbling on paper.

Upon hearing the noise, he looked up and saw Li Yu, excitedly saying, ”Director Li, you’re here.”

Li Yu smiled, ”What are you doing?”

Pointing to the paper and pen in his hand.

Old Bi replied helplessly, ”Accounting, never sorted this before, and now realizing it’s giving me a headache.

Daily calculations of cooperative personnel exchanging grain, remaining grain and resource calculations.

Oil production records, and later planning...

Li Yu curiously asked, ”Later planning? What’s that about.”

”General Captain told me, you mentioned reinforcing Oil City, prevent future downpours or similar natural disasters, so I’m considering how to plan well, enhance Oil City’s defenses.”

Old Bi seemed troubled by this over the last couple of days, shedding quite a bit of hair.

Li Yu found it somewhat amusing upon hearing.

He said, ”You’re thinking alone?”

”Yeah, Old Luo and Old Ju, those guys, so indifferent, not bothering to help me bear some of the workload.” Old Bi seemed to hold some resentment, but his tone was more one of resignation than blame.

Li Yu pondered; Oil City is not like the Big Camphor Tree Base; geographically, the zombies here are certainly more numerous than at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

After all, this is on the plains, only a few dozen kilometers from the city, densely populated before Doomsday.

And into Doomsday, the zombie numbers are substantial.

More crucially, although the fence has been repaired and reinforced, it’s still only six meters high, two stories, neither high nor low.

If it weren’t for the endless oil at Oil City, used to ignite and block zombies, Oil City would have long been overrun by the Zombie Tide.

Compared to Big Camphor Tree Base, Oil City has only two advantages: one is its area isn’t as large as Big Camphor Tree Base, the second is the endless oil, otherwise, every aspect is inferior to Big Camphor Tree Base.

Li Yu contemplated for a few seconds and then said to Third Uncle, ”Third Uncle, I think Oil City’s defenses are somewhat lacking; we need to find a way to enhance them.”

Third Uncle swallowed a mouthful of fruit, saying, ”Are you suggesting building the walls higher?

If so, hmm..... though I’m not well-versed in construction, to build walls like those at Big Camphor Tree Base, foundation laying is necessary. Without it, the height can’t be supported.

It’s at six meters now, I feel it’s nearly the limit. If it weren’t for the containers below filled with soil, weighing them down.

Combined with concrete adhesion into a solid unit. Otherwise, it would easily collapse.

Moreover, if laying foundations, these walls would need to be demolished and rebuilt... seems a bit complex, even somewhat risky.”

Li Yu, sitting in the chair, rubbed his lower back and said, ”There are many methods.

We don’t need to be inflexible, entirely demolishing and rebuilding isn’t necessary; we could directly construct outside the existing walls of Oil City to create double walls.

However, this method consumes too much time, manpower, and materials, Big Camphor Tree Base’s Third Outer City took months of construction and so many people.

Oil City might take even longer, during construction, building materials must be gathered, and personnel appointed for construction.

The grain consumption would be immense, so temporarily we won’t consider it.”

”What method do you have?” Third Uncle placed one hand on the chair, gently tapping the table.

Li Yu actually had a rough idea in mind, utilizing the method Oil City used before: creating an oil isolation zone outside the walls.

Currently, the oil isolation zone has some drawbacks.

At times it wasted quite a bit of oil, and the method of adding oil was too laborious.

Thinking for a while, he said, ”A small idea, but I think this matter requires gathering everyone for discussion, with more minds comes more ideas. Collective brainstorming can lead to a better solution.”

Third Uncle saw Li Yu reluctant to elaborate, smiled, and said, ”Alright, let’s hold a meeting, wait for your say.”

Then he picked up the walkie-talkie, contacted Old Ju, Xiao Jun, Old Luo outside to come in.

Li Yu said, ”I’ll ask Zhong Chuchu to come too; after all, she originally stayed here, should know Oil City better than us.”

”Up to you.” Third Uncle said casually.

Soon.

The meeting room filled with people.

Ant and Jackals sat on chairs, one wielding a dagger carving wood, the other seemingly trimming nails.

Upon entering, Zhong Chuchu saw the people in the meeting room, feeling somewhat overwhelmed.

The people here, in her eyes, are mostly among the core figures at the Big Camphor Tree Base, leading various teams.

Her being allowed in, naturally surprised her somewhat.

Seeing everyone gathered, Li Yu addressed the group:

”Let’s not waste words, straight to the point.

Today’s Oil City indeed has many issues, mainly concerning the problem of defense, still somewhat fragile; the core theme is how to enhance the defenses here at Oil City.

Zhong Chuchu, first tell us how you previously managed during the Zombie Tide outbreak, how did you handle surviving through it?”
