Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Uncle Wan hesitated and said, ”But team leader, honestly, our current life is actually pretty good. We have meals provided every day, and we can earn points. Why take the risk?”

Dongfeng shook his head silently and sighed, ”Eventually, the Third Outer City will be completed, and once it is, we will still need to go out and carry out missions. Moreover, our identity is as cooperative personnel, we can only obtain food and points through missions, there is no guarantee.”

”Even if we become extra staff, receiving some food every month wouldn’t be so tense. Uncle Wan, think about it, once the Third Outer City is completed, with the food we have, how long can we eat?”

”Um, half a month maybe,” Uncle Wan hesitated for a moment and said.

”Yeah, half a month, no food in hand and you’re anxious. You think, now is actually an opportunity, I have studied the newly released missions, honestly, some of them are not that dangerous, they’re just farther away.

Completing one of those missions can be equal to doing four or five regular ones. I think we should give it a try.”

”Currently, the Third Outer City is still under construction, once it is completed, those cooperative personnel on the construction site will be released. Besides, some of the original tasks for gathering building materials will likely decrease significantly.

When that time comes, everyone’s attention will probably turn to these new missions, so we need to hurry and do them now, don’t wait until we have to compete with others later.

Only this way can we accumulate enough points faster than others.”

Dongfeng spoke firmly and seriously.

Uncle Wan pondered for a while and said, ”But some members of our group aren’t really suitable for going... Da Jie lost an arm and still hasn’t recovered. Tiger Head and the others are so young, and Xiao Fang just had a check-up with Doctor Liu Pengfei a few days ago, and she’s pregnant. They haven’t decided whether to keep the child yet....”

Hearing this, Dongfeng’s gaze grew more determined.

He said, ”That’s why we must take risks, while the Third Outer City is still being built, let those with weaker combat abilities work here, and the rest of us go out on missions, that’s the best approach.

As for Xiao Fang, let her stay near the Big Camphor Tree Base.”

Uncle Wan heard this, nodded without saying more.

Soon after, they walked out of Weng City, and barely a few dozen meters out, team member Liu Youguang ran up to Dongfeng and said, ”Team leader, wait a moment, Old Dong’s daughter came out saying she wants to see you.”

After speaking, he turned back and waved to Dong Ying, who was ten meters away.

Old Dong’s family, because of Old Dong’s professional skills in electricity, was specially recruited into the Big Camphor Tree Base, and they’ve had no contact since.

Originally leaving from Poyang Lake together, surviving through life and death, after finally reaching the Big Camphor Tree Base, their fates diverged.

Especially after they understood the four-level rank system of the Big Camphor Tree Base, realizing the difference in treatment between cooperative personnel and those from the Outer City.

This made them feel quite sad, after all, the gap was too big. Clearly, they were all together initially....

These cooperative personnel, although able to obtain food through missions, are said to be very free, but it’s unguaranteed.

If they don’t complete a mission, or die outside during a mission, fundamentally it has nothing to do with the Big Camphor Tree Base.

After all, they are merely in a cooperative relationship, neither owes the other.

But as Outer City personnel, it’s completely different.

Dong Ying, carrying a large burlap sack, with sweat covering her forehead, it was obvious that the load on her back was somewhat heavy.

”Brother Dongfeng, Uncle Wan, Uncle Youguang. My parents are busy inside the base and don’t have time to come out to see you. These things are sent by them for you.

He said you might be short on food and need this.”

Dong Ying smiled as she greeted everyone, then handed the items she was carrying to them.

Tie Tou and Tiger Head, the two youngsters, quickly went to catch it, evidently surprised by how heavy the sack was, Tie Tou asked, ”Sister Ying, what’s inside? Why is it so heavy?”

Dong Ying was about to answer when Dongfeng glanced at the sack, having a guess in his mind.

He spoke, ”Is everything okay with Old Dong and your mom in the base?”

Dong Ying nodded and said, ”They’re all doing well, just busy, always in the lab. Brother Dongfeng, my parents asked me to send their regards to you, we all miss you.”

Nearby, Tie Tou and Tiger Head opened the sack, revealing it was full of food.

Excitedly they exclaimed, ”Wow! It’s all food, there’s even canned goods!”

Dongfeng’s feelings were very complex now, food is the most crucial thing in this Doomsday, he originally thought that once Old Dong’s family entered the base, they would no longer contact cooperative personnel like them.

Unexpectedly, they brought out precious food for them.

During this period, they also learned that Outer City personnel are not exactly free with food, they can’t just eat however much they want.

Instead, there is a daily fixed quota, uniformly distributed.

Their food is much better than that of extra staff, but accumulating this much food is still incredibly difficult.
