Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

”Group 2’s Xiao Hu, a rather steady person, took the initiative to handle refilling water during the journey. That was when we were at the riverside; he actually came up with a way to refill all the vehicles with water.”

”In any case, judging from the last few runs, the members of the three groups have been cooperating with our base for quite some time. I think letting them enter the Outer City isn’t a bad idea. Of course, the final decision is yours; you might have other considerations.”

With that, Third Uncle extinguished his cigarette butt.

Li Yu nodded thoughtfully and said, ”I share your thoughts; I’m ready to let them join the Outer City.”

”Hmm.” Third Uncle said nothing more.

After two seconds, he asked, ”What about others’ opinions?”

Li Yu replied, ”I talked to my dad, and he thinks it’s okay to let the three of them in. Uncle and Second Uncle think so too, though Second Uncle initially thought we should assess further and have them undertake a few more missions.”

Third Uncle gave a wry smile and said, ”Haha, Second Brother is indeed very cautious, which is good. But Zhu Xiao and Guo Peng have completed so many missions and assessments for so long, it’s about time.”

Li Yu said, ”Yeah, there’s no point in assessing them further. The Outer City also needs some fresh blood now.”

”By the way, with their numbers being quite substantial, is there any pressure regarding food?”

Li Yu shook his head and said, ”No problem. Even if we don’t calculate the planting area on the Third Outer City side, our current planting is more than enough.”

”That’s good.” Third Uncle nodded.

As they talked, they unconsciously reached the residential area.

Li Yu stopped, thought for a moment, and said, ”Recently, a group of people came from the north, from Nanyang. They said there emerged a motorcycle gang over there that specifically loots resources from other forces. The group that came to the base is fleeing from there.”

Third Uncle listened carefully, not quite understanding Li Yu’s purpose in mentioning this.

”So, what do you think?” Third Uncle asked.

Knowing Li Yu, who has always been rational and results-oriented, he doesn’t do things without reason. If he decides to do something, there’s always a reason behind it.

For instance, before the natural disaster, Li Yu had people prepare various things, and when the disaster struck, because of this foresight, the base’s losses were minimized.

Therefore, in Third Uncle’s view, Li Yu must have some reason to bring this up now.

Li Yu was silent for a few seconds and then said, ”Oil, we lack oil. In Nanyang, there’s an Oil City with a full set of oil refining equipment, and it continuously produces oil. We need that oil.”

Third Uncle was somewhat surprised. He naturally understood the importance of oil, but the distance from the Big Camphor Tree Base to Nanyang is quite far.

With that time, wouldn’t it be better to search in Gansheng? Some oil fields could surely be found.

Third Uncle thought about it but couldn’t quite figure it out.

So he asked, ”Are you suggesting that we deal with the motorcycle gang over there and take control of the Oil City?”

Li Yu replied, ”Control or not, that’s one thing. But the motorcycle gang is developing rapidly, and I’m a bit worried.”

”However, there’s no rush with this matter. Yesterday, more people fled from the north due to being driven away by the motorcycle gang.

For now, let’s focus on building the Third Outer City first.

This matter is just something I wanted to mention to you, Third Uncle.”

”Alright.” Third Uncle nodded.

The two were silent for a few seconds.

Third Uncle said, ”Well, I’ll head back to eat something first. Eating dry rations all the way has almost made me sick.”

Li Yu smiled and said, ”Third Uncle, there’s ripe watermelon at the Underground Plantation. Do you want some?”

Third Uncle’s eyes lit up at the sound of this.

On a hot day like this, enjoying a refreshing watermelon is a real treat.

So he nodded repeatedly, ”Great, I’ll go pick some now. You go ahead and do your thing; I’ll get the watermelons...”

With that, Third Uncle headed toward the Underground Plantation.

Li Yu smiled and shook his head.

”Third Uncle is still the same, with a particular fondness for fruit.”

........

The next day.

Early in the morning, Zhu Xiao, Guo Peng, and others arrived at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Seeing their dark circles, it was clear they hadn’t slept all night.

Behind them were many other groups’ extra staff and cooperative personnel.

They had heard the rumors that Zhu Xiao and his group would likely be promoted to Outer City members.

Some who were originally heading to the Third Outer City construction site simply joined in the excitement.

Others, who were supposed to gather resources outside, were in no hurry to execute their tasks and came over to take a look instead.

Seeing so many people, Li Yu was somewhat surprised.

But upon thinking it over, he found it quite natural.

After all, for many cooperative personnel and extra staff, the hope to enter the Outer City and live a better life was an aspiration.

Besides He Chao and others, later additions like Luo and Ju Tianrui completed significant tasks remarkably well, so they accrued points quickly.

For other groups’ extra staff, this was their first time entering the Outer City.

It was an exciting moment.

Even if it wasn’t their turn now, witnessing others’ success could provide them with some motivation.

Li Yu was glad to see this happening.

Second Uncle, Third Uncle, and others were all present.

Because of the large crowd, they were let into Weng City.

Zhu Xiao and a few others felt a bit nervous seeing so many people following. They were also worried that if members from the other two groups got in and theirs didn’t, it would be a huge embarrassment.

But with everyone watching, dissuading them wasn’t really an option, so they reluctantly accepted.

Seeing that almost everyone had gathered, Li Yu noticed Zhu Xiao, Guo Peng, and Xiao Hu looking anxious. He laughed and said to them, ”Haha, don’t be nervous.”
