Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 678: Chapter 555: Game and Way Out_2

”Good idea.” He Chao lit up.

He then controlled the drone to fly down, hovering about three to four meters above the zombie’s head.

”You are the most beautiful cloud in my heart—”

The song was loud and penetrating, causing the zombies below to become more agitated, reaching out, roaring, attempting to seize the drone in mid-air.

Xiao Jun watched the scene below, and oddly felt that it resembled a concert before the apocalypse.

However, the fans at the concert were probably not as frenzied as the zombies.

Buzzing—

The drone flew steadily, slowly leading the pack of zombies towards the river to the east.

In order to ensure that the remaining zombies could keep up, He Chao had to control the drone not to fly too fast, trying to lead more zombies over.

The river to the east was about three kilometers away from the steel factory.

The loudspeaker was very loud, the post-apocalyptic world had become very quiet without the noise of car horns and industrial noise.

Especially at night, this loudspeaker noise spread through most of the factory.

When the drone flew over the river, it stopped.

The zombies mindlessly walked into the river.

Plunk! Plunk!

The river, with a relatively strong flow, wide and deep, received the zombies one by one as they fell into it.

Then, carried by the swift currents, they were washed downstream.

The river was full of zombies, and although not very clear from the air, one could still discern the surging zombies in the river.

After dealing with this wave of zombies, He Chao turned off the loudspeaker, then flew the drone deeper into the steel factory, leading the zombies even further away.

After flying it back and forth twice, He Chao flew the drone back and changed its battery for another flight.

To ensure enough power for the drone tonight, they had even taken down the car’s battery to rotate charging the drone’s batteries.

This was repeated several times.

The singing in the steel factory lasted a long time.

Finally, by the sixth time, there were hardly any zombies visible.

Luckily, the steel factory occupied a large area and was located in a remote area with no residential districts nearby.

Otherwise, the loud noise of the loudspeaker would not only have failed to draw the zombies out of the steel factory but would have attracted those nearby.

...

Juzi Island Head.

Zhou Tian ran hurriedly; Ju Tianrui was looking at a map inside a room.

A handgun was placed on the table.

Hearing the commotion, Ju Tianrui turned his head to see it was Zhou Tian and put down the pencil in his hand, asking, ”What’s wrong?”

Zhou Tian’s face looked grim, his eyes filled with anger.

”Just now, when we went as usual to collect the protection subsidy, Gan Shang’s men refused us and even sealed away the supplies we had originally gathered, breaking their initial promise. Should we confront Gan Shang about this?”

Hearing this, Ju Tianrui wasn’t surprised at all.

It felt as though a heavy stone in his heart had finally landed.

”I anticipated he would burn his bridges. Relying solely on his food was never a long-term plan. I had instructed to hide some food; make sure it’s well preserved. That’s what we’ll rely on next. Check how much longer it can sustain us.”

Zhou Tian spoke, ”I calculated before coming here; we have enough food for about a month for all of us, maybe one and a half if we economize. That’s if we stop distributing it to the refugees.”

”If we continue to serve porridge to these refugees every three or four days like before, it won’t even last a week.”

Ju Tianrui sat on the chair, feeling drained.

He stared blankly at the handgun on the table, at one moment even tempted to force Gan Shang to hand over the food for the refugees.

But he knew he couldn’t, despite Gan Shang’s numerous misdeeds, they were still officially allies.

Furthermore, some actions of these refugees had deeply hurt him.

He felt somewhat lost.

He didn’t know what the right thing to do really was.

From Gan Shang’s perspective, perhaps it wasn’t wrong either.

What is right and what is wrong.

At this time, even before the apocalypse, there was no standard to measure by, let alone during the apocalypse.

Right and wrong only exist in one’s own heart.

In a situation where they couldn’t even protect themselves, yet still thinking about the refugees, he became clear-headed.

Ever since the refugee riot demanding food, he started to wake up.

People are lazy; human kindness can also be exploited.

Although many of the refugees are innocent, some are incited, and in the heat of the moment shout out chilling words.

However, people like Tian Rui were indeed struck down.

Back then, Gan Shang just watched the excitement and even mocked them.

The next second, Gan Shang taught Tian Rui a good lesson.

He used a small amount of food to bribe some people, then had them manage the South District.

The South District quieted down significantly.

Sometimes, using unfair means to resolve refugee riots, controlling refugees with refugees, turns out to be more effective.

Now those refugees managing other refugees have transformed into managers, and indeed, they have become Gan Shang’s people.

They, know how to control the other refugees.

Using refugees to manage refugees.

It has to be said, Gan Shang’s tactics are astute.

Tian Rui said with a hoarse voice:

”Then, just don’t give them food. Let the brothers brace up; Gan Shang’s tricks are definitely not limited to this.”

Zhou Tian, hearing Tian Rui say this, immediately sighed in relief. He had thought Tian Rui would be so naive as to cut off their own escape route for the sake of ungrateful refugees.

”I’ll head back first,” said Zhou Tian.

Tian Rui nodded.

After Zhou Tian left, after a long time.

Tian Rui circled a spot on the map with a pencil.

The center of the circle was precisely Xin City.

”Our future, perhaps ultimately lies here too,” Tian Rui murmured to himself.

But he knew they couldn’t leave now. Not only because of the refugees but more importantly, he did not know the strength of Xin City.

He was very aware that Gan Shang wasn’t just backed by these people; his real support came from Gan Xiong in the west, people he truly feared.

It wasn’t the right moment to leave; leaving now might likely lead to being tracked by Gan Shang and his group.

Once tracked, they would learn that the people in Xin City were the ones who killed Gan Gaojie.

If Xin City wasn’t strong enough, it would inevitably lead their own people to disaster.

Including the real scientist.

Moreover, even if they went to Xin City, would the people there welcome them?

Don’t know.

”I also don’t know how Xiao Jun and his group are doing now...”

If not going to Xin City, there’s only one other path to take.

Taking his men and leaving Juzi Island, not going to Xin City, but heading either north or south.

Their people have sufficient strength and with their abilities, could also carve out a new world.

But is their existence merely for survival?

Tian Rui’s eyes revealed his struggle, and his fists clenched tightly.

He somewhat doubted himself, whether he is fit to be the leader of this group.
