The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 613: Chapter 613: How Great Is Traditional Chinese Medicine?

The reporters all laughed.

They were very happy.

If either Liu Chan or Zhao Xuefeng were to leave the medical field, it would be quite a spectacle.

How could they not be pleased with something that grabs attention so much?

They couldn’t care less if it was a loss to the medical circles.

The only thing they’re nervous about now is whether Zhao Xuefeng would agree to the bet.

They saw Zhao Xuefeng stand up, looking at Lin Tian with meaningful eyes.

”I agree.”

These three words came out of Zhao Xuefeng’s mouth with almost no hesitation, which surprised everyone – was this too straightforward of an agreement?

Lin Tian was also surprised, looking at his mentor with a puzzled expression.

”I trust that old guy won’t beat you.” Zhao Xuefeng gave Lin Tian a glance. The trust was implicit.

The bet was placed in front of the media, legislative committee, and all major colleagues, it couldn’t be undone.

Then, the organizing committee posed some targeted questions to Liu Mang.

Among them, Sun Chuanrong was the chairman of the organizing committee. Naturally, he wouldn’t ask questions targeting ancient medicine, but this old guy could twist it to mention ancient medicine no matter how he spoke.

Since the situation had already turned confrontational, he had no reservations, speaking his mind freely, saying whatever he wanted.

In an instant, Zhao Xuefeng and Lin Tian felt as if their hearts were blocked by a heavy stone. They wished they could beat this guy up.

Finally, the frustrated Lin Tian stood up again, arguing with Liu Mang.

From medicine to ethnicity, from ethnicity to nation, Lin Tian enlarged the argument, placing as much responsibility as possible on this old guy.

In short, just opposing him.

The fuming Liu Mang pointed at Lin Tian’s nose, shouting, ”If you’ve got the guts, come up here and talk!”

Lin Tian was taken aback at first, then grinned, ”This idea seems quite interesting, I’d be pleased.”

Earlier, he didn’t take the stage to keep a low profile; now it seemed he couldn’t remain low-key.

Lin Tian turned his head toward Sun Chuanrong on the podium, asking, ”Mr. Sun, may I deliver a speech? I have even come up with the topic ’How Great Ancient Medicine Truly Is!’

Sun Chuanrong was speechless. He wanted very much for Lin Tian to give a speech, after all, he wasn’t sure just how talented Lin Tian was. At the very least, he was more outstanding than Zhao Xuefeng; that was enough.

However, this guy hadn’t submitted a speech draft, hadn’t gone through the procedure, leaving Sun in a difficult position.

Sun Chuanrong looked toward Mr. Zhang at the leadership seats, hoping for a definite answer.

Suddenly, another person stood up.

This time it was a girl, a very pretty girl whose lightly made-up face accentuated her features full of spiritual qi, a girl who looked very smart.

Zhao Qingtang bowed to the leadership seats and said, ”Greetings to the leaders, I’m Zhao Qingtang, scheduled to speak. I admit that my medical skills are not as good as Lin Tian’s, and I’m willing to relinquish my chance to him.”

The first person who couldn’t quite grasp the situation was Lin Tian.

He understood what this speech meant to Zhao Qingtang.

Raised by Zhao Xuefeng and his wife from childhood, she nurtured a love for ancient medicine.

Being able to stand on the stage of the Physician’s Summit was a dream, a dream planted in her heart for over a decade.

Today, she finally had the chance to fulfill it, but she chose to give up this opportunity to Lin Tian.

Bear in mind, she was a proud girl, with a speech draft she revised repeatedly for three months... although it ended up being corrected by Lin Tian.

”Qingtang, is this necessary?” Lin Tian didn’t even know how to speak to her, was this still the Zhao Qingtang he once knew?

”Why so much babbling from you? I’m giving it to you, aren’t you going to accept?”

”I didn’t mean it that way...”

In the venue, Mr. Zhang was even more troubled, they aren’t tyrants and must follow protocol, such a situation never happened before.

Sitting in the audience, Liu Wen and Liu Ze exchanged glances, looked at their mentor, at Zhao Qingtang, and at Lin Tian.

Finally, both stood up amidst Mr. Zhang’s dilemma.

”Mr. Zhang, we also are willing to give up our spot for him.” They both spoke in unison.

They were Zhao’s most accomplished disciples, also key members in the heritage of ancient medicine.

They have only known Lin Tian for a few hours, and although the conversation went well, it seemed insignificant compared to the opportunity for fame.

All these developments weren’t due to Lin Tian having a protagonist aura, but because Zhao Xuefeng dared to wager his career; how could they distrust their teacher?

Besides, this junior indeed fit their appetites.

With three such young and talented individuals backing him, Mr. Zhang was also quite intrigued to hear Lin Tian’s speech.

He nodded towards Sun Chuanrong.

”Since everyone is so supportive of Lin Tian, let’s allow him to give a speech without taking away from the other three’s spots, does everyone agree to this?” Sun Chuanrong asked the floor.

”...”

No response was the best response.

Sun Chuanrong grabbed the microphone and said, ”Then let’s invite Lin Tian to the stage to deliver his speech. I still remember his mentioned speech title, ’How Great Ancient Medicine Truly Is!’”

Zhao Xuefeng was the first to start clapping, then the surrounding ancient medicine practitioners followed, and finally, the applause echoed in the hall.

Walking confidently to the stage, Lin Tian held the microphone, looking out at the dark sea of people below, then began speaking: ”Good afternoon everyone, first let me give a simple self-introduction. I am a practitioner of ancient medicine, Zhao Xuefeng’s apprentice, Lin Tian.”

”How great is ancient medicine? I don’t need to say it, but everyone already knows. Since primitive society, ancient medicine began to slowly take shape...”

”In modern society, ancient medicine gradually started to be replaced by modern medicine. This is a crisis, and it’s also a tragedy for our nation. Why did ancient medicine decline? Some say it’s because ancient medicine’s efficiency is slow, some say ancient medicine isn’t scientific. Others say, ancient medicine is akin to witchcraft and fraud.”

”Not only do foreigners think this way, but many of our own citizens also believe this.”

”Is ancient medicine’s efficacy slow? Actually, it’s not. Ancient medicine can be quick as well, for instance, a while back I was hospitalized due to a car accident, with internal organ shock and nine fractures. But I was discharged within a week.”

”All of this was accomplished by ancient medicine. Seeing ancient texts makes some feel the classical language is particularly difficult. But if you ask me, compared to Western medicine, ancient medicine is as simple as it gets. Human beings’ meridians, bones, flesh, and internal organs are interconnected.”

”Internal and external, cause and effect, as long as one understands the principles, one can thoroughly diagnose a person’s sickness. This is ’inspection’ in ’inspection, listening, inquiry, palpation,’ not mysticism, much less witchcraft.”

”Let me give you an example. For instance, if someone’s eyes are clear and bright, they are certainly healthy, at least with healthy internal organs. If the eyes are murky...”
