The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 454: Chapter 454: Call Me Shishi

When Bai Shishi heard that Mei Ruyan was leaving, she immediately grabbed her wrist. With a look of pleading, she said, tightening her lips, ”Stay with me for a while.”

With Mei Ruyan’s indifferent personality, she normally wouldn’t even bother with others. But in front of Bai Shishi, she actually smiled, saying brightly, ”You should stay with Lin Tian now. With me here, you two won’t feel at ease. Don’t worry, I won’t eavesdrop by the door.”

Bai Shishi was both anxious and irritated, glaring at Mei Ruyan, her face a pretty shade of red. Just as she was about to speak, Mei Ruyan freed herself from her hand and said while walking away, ”Lin Tian is a patient now, you should treat him well. I’ll go buy you guys some food.”

Lin Tian had never seen this childish side of Mei Ruyan before. She only showed her true self in front of Bai Shishi.

Watching Mei Ruyan’s departing figure, Bai Shishi grew even more flustered. She remembered how cold and heartless she had been to him that day at the Bai Family’s residence.

After Lin Tian left, Bai Shishi didn’t have an easy time either. Saying she was heartbroken would not have been an exaggeration; she fainted from crying three times that day.

From that day on, Bai Shishi lost interest in everything. For several days in a row, her entire figure grew much thinner.

Later, she could only throw herself completely into her career. By filling her time with hurried work, she wouldn’t have to deal with any troubles.

But was it really like that?

There were so many sleepless nights when, even with sleeping pills, Bai Shishi fell asleep in tears.

She didn’t dare meet Mei Ruyan because she didn’t know how to explain, and she feared Mei Ruyan’s questions even more.

She knew Lin Tian was no longer just a mere stranger in Mei Ruyan’s heart. Bai Shishi had never seen Mei Ruyan being courteous to any man, yet in front of Lin Tian, Mei Ruyan actually smiled and let Lin Tian take small advantages.

How unbelievable was that?

Although Mei Ruyan hid her feelings for Lin Tian well, she couldn’t hide them from Bai Shishi.

Bai Shishi had thought that from then on, she and Lin Tian would belong to different worlds. They wouldn’t meet again, and even if they did, they’d be strangers, never having any intersections in this lifetime.

But when Bai Shishi saw Lin Tian covered in blood, she almost fainted from fright. All the grievances she held against Lin Tian disappeared, replaced by self-blame and confusion.

She didn’t know how to face Lin Tian, this man who had risked his life to save her time and time again. Not only that, he had saved her reputation; if he had arrived two days later, she would have truly been defiled by a beast.

Bai Shishi didn’t speak, and Lin Tian also fell silent.

Only Lin Tian knew the weight Bai Shishi held in his heart. She was the person he was willing to exchange his life for.

Bai Shishi, feeling uneasy, sat down on the sofa. Looking at the severely injured Lin Tian, Bai Shishi finally trembled as she uttered three words: ”I’m sorry.”

It was an apology, a self-blame, and a plea for forgiveness.

Upon hearing these words, Lin Tian’s tender heart felt even more aggrieved.

I didn’t kill Bai Tianming; he brought all of it upon himself. Everything I did was for you.

But why did you push me away?

”The one who should really apologize is me, isn’t it?”

Lin Tian didn’t accept her apology; he turned his face away.

It’s said that a woman’s heart is a needle at the bottom of the ocean. But a man’s thoughts are just as complex, like Lin Tian now.

When he learned Bai Shishi was in trouble, Lin Tian wanted nothing more than to hold her tight in his arms and never let go. But now, he didn’t want to see her; he wanted to escape.

Hearing Lin Tian’s words, Bai Shishi sat there stunned for a moment, her eyes reddening as she cried again.

She had never been a fragile woman, but for Lin Tian, she didn’t even know how many times she had cried.

”Lin Tian, you don’t need to apologize. The one who truly owes you is me. I investigated Bai Jiaming’s matter, and he brought it upon himself. I wrongly blamed you.” Bai Shishi’s voice trembled as she spoke, feeling empty inside. Lin Tian had never treated her like this.

”Now you finally believe me?”

Lin Tian couldn’t see Bai Shishi’s face, but from her tearful voice, he knew she was crying hard, and his once hardened heart softened again.

”N-no, it’s not like that.” Bai Shishi hastily responded, not knowing how to express what she felt inside.

”You don’t need to explain. I just felt wronged and never blamed you.” Lin Tian sighed lightly. Hearing Bai Shishi’s words, half of his grievances dissipated immediately.

In Lin Tian’s heart, it was like there was a balloon. Every time he thought of this matter, the balloon would fill with more grievance.

Bai Shishi’s words were like pricking the balloon, emptying the grievances all at once.

”Miss Bai, can you forgive me? I never thought of killing your brother; he wanted to kill me, and in the end, got what he deserved.”

Lin Tian turned his head to look at Bai Shishi, tears streaming down his own face too.

”You should be the one forgiving me.” Bai Shishi wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand. She no longer looked like a commanding big sister, more like a child.

Seeing her like this, Lin Tian cracked a smile, the knot in his heart quietly melting away.

Seeing Lin Tian’s smile, Bai Shishi also smiled through her tears.

They could let go so quickly; the truth was there was never any real resentment between them. Once the misunderstanding was resolved, everything returned to how it began.

”Miss Bai, you’ve lost weight,” Lin Tian said.

Lin Tian’s concerned tone made Bai Shishi shiver slightly before she scolded, ”It’s all because of you; if you had explained to me earlier, this wouldn’t have happened.”

”Miss Bai, I won’t take the blame for this one.” Lin Tian grinned and said.

”Don’t call me Miss Bai anymore.”

”Why?”

”Because I don’t like it. From now on, just call me Shishi. Try calling me once.” Saying this, a flush appeared on Bai Shishi’s cheeks.

Lin Tian paused for a moment, then called out amusedly, ”Shishi?”

”Call me again.”

”Shishi.”

”Again!”

Meanwhile, outside the ward.

A shapely woman pressed her ear against the door. Her posture further accentuated her exquisite figure, attracting much attention from passing men.

This person was naturally Mei Ruyan. She pressed one ear to the door while covering her other ear with her hand, listening intently.

The VIP ward was made of high-quality materials, so it was naturally well soundproofed.

But Mei Ruyan still heard a bit of sound. Although not much, it was enough because she knew the two had reconciled.

This not only made Mei Ruyan breathe a sigh of relief, but it also raised an unusual feeling in her heart.

”How thick-skinned. Do you think you can just call her Shishi?”

Mei Ruyan muttered under her breath, then gently kicked the ward door in a bit of annoyance before turning to leave.

The sudden kick against the door naturally reached Bai Shishi and Lin Tian’s ears. Bai Shishi looked toward the door in confusion, ”Did someone knock on the door?”

Mei Ruyan’s little action couldn’t fool Lin Tian. He chuckled and said, ”No one knocked. It must’ve been a little mouse.”
