The Invincible Strongest Student

Chapter 453: Chapter 453: The Bittersweet Reunion After a Long Separation

Lin Tian fainted while channeling spiritual energy, collapsing onto Mei Ruyan’s chest.

When he woke up and slightly opened his eyes, he found that apart from his head, everything from shoulder to toe was wrapped in long bandages.

If his head was also wrapped in bandages, he would truly look like a mummy.

In addition, Lin Tian’s left hand had an IV drip connected to his hand, and several wires were attached from his chest to a machine by the bedside. He glanced at the screen with the corner of his eye, noticing several numbers that were likely indicating his health status.

After looking left and right, he realized this must be a hospital room.

The room looked exceptionally lavish, with a hollowed-out carved chandelier hanging from the ceiling, large floor-to-ceiling windows covering the walls, and curtains half-open. Sunlight bathed the floor, warming the room.

To the left of the sickbed were two leather sofas, and on the opposite wall was a 47-inch borderless big color TV.

Lin Tian glanced around but quickly lost interest. His mind was filled with Bai Shishi’s image, and he wondered how she was.

Lin Tian felt somewhat guilty, blaming himself for fainting at such a critical moment.

He extended his hand to pull the blanket, but even that small movement caused intense pain throughout his body.

Lin Tian frowned and lay helplessly on the bed. He closed his eyes and began to channel the spiritual energy in his body.

The Sea of Qi was empty, with only the Golden Core remaining, and no spiritual energy at all. Moreover, as he tried to mobilize the Golden Core, he found it couldn’t be moved, giving him a deep sense of helplessness.

Given the current situation, all the spiritual energy in the Sea of Qi had been squandered in the healing process. After saving his life, the Golden Core had once again fallen into dormancy.

Helpless, Lin Tian had no choice but to open his pores again and silently began channeling the ”Tyrant Emperor’s Record”.

After advancing to a mid-level Martial Artist, Lin Tian’s Eight Extraordinary Meridians instantly opened two paths. This was quite a gain, and the effectiveness of these meridians was becoming evident. The speed of absorbing spiritual energy was twice as fast as before.

Previously, his body’s Golden Core operated automatically, so he never needed to worry about absorption. It was only now that he discovered this astonishing speed.

Absorbing spiritual energy was a process that brought comfort to both body and mind; strands of spiritual energy merged into his blood vessels through his pores, flowed into his meridians, and finally concentrated in the Sea of Qi.

The Sea of Qi is not just a place for storing spiritual energy; it acts as a transfer station for spiritual energy. Its importance to Martial Artists is akin to the importance of the heart.

The heart’s primary function is to provide pressure for blood flow, enabling blood to reach various parts of the body. If the heart stops, the blood won’t flow, leading to death.

The Sea of Qi functions similarly, allowing spiritual energy to circulate and renew within the body. If the Sea of Qi were damaged, absorbed spiritual energy would disperse immediately.

Spiritual energy is fed back from the Sea of Qi to the limbs, nourishing wounds and healing broken bones.

Lin Tian had nine broken bones, both legs in casts, and suspended high. His chest was wrapped with something soft, presumably treating his ribs.

Spiritual energy clearly benefited the healing of Lin Tian’s wounds, causing all wounds to feel both numb and itchy, a sign of accelerated healing.

Quickly, Lin Tian’s Sea of Qi was filled with spiritual energy again. This sensation was so pleasurable that Lin Tian almost moaned, and his sickly body became full of vitality.

Lin Tian tried to raise his arm once more, no longer feeling that intense pain nor any discomfort.

Lin Tian turned his head searchingly, soon locating the ’hospital room call system’ at the bedside, needing only to extend his hand to press it.

Holding his breath a bit, Lin Tian slightly propped himself up and then pressed the button twice consecutively.

Soon, rapid footsteps were heard from outside.

The door opened, and a doctor and nurse walked in first. Before they could examine him, Lin Tian was quick to ask: ”Doctor, how is Miss Bai?”

The doctor was clearly stunned and looked towards the nurse, asking: ”Who is Miss Bai?”

The nurse shook her head in confusion.

At this moment, two more people entered, and Lin Tian craned his neck to glance, spotting Mei Ruyan, but through the footsteps he knew there were two people. The other set of footsteps was quite familiar, belonging to Bai Shishi.

Lin Tian’s mood suddenly turned a bit anxious and flustered.

Upon learning Bai Shishi was in trouble, he desired more than anyone to see Bai Shishi.

Yet when she was right in front of him, Lin Tian avoided her gaze.

Mei Ruyan, now in fresh clothes, had her gunshot wound on her right arm treated, wrapped in several layers of gauze. Her expression was still icy, but there was some warmth in her eyes.

Soon, Lin Tian saw Bai Shishi beside Mei Ruyan and drew three conclusions:

First, she had lost weight. She was much thinner than the last time he saw her, but still very beautiful with a slim, tall figure.

Second, she hadn’t rested well. She looked weary, her hair in disarray, and her face looked haggard.

She wore a white dress, but now it was far from white, stained with black and gray splotches and large patches of blood. Seeing the blood, Lin Tian became nervous, but after observing closely, he realized it wasn’t hers, as she had no injuries.

Third, she was conflicted. She didn’t dare to look at Lin Tian yet couldn’t help but glance, their eyes meeting briefly in the air before quickly looking away.

Some said Lin Tian was someone with lustful thoughts but not the courage. But Lin Tian never considered himself cowardly. Yet, at this moment, he felt timid, even his breath becoming heavy.

The air in the room seemed to freeze, only the doctor and nurse were examining Lin Tian’s body.

The doctor asked Lin Tian several questions consecutively, while the nurse beside him took notes on a clipboard.

After the examination, the doctor was amazed and murmured: ”It’s truly strange, how your body recovered so quickly?”

Lin Tian remained silent, unable to disclose the spiritual energy as the cause to the doctor.

Upon hearing this, Mei Ruyan would not let it go. She coldly remarked: ”Do you wish for him to recover slowly?”

Mei Ruyan’s icy tone made the doctor shudder, quickly waving his hands, ”That’s not what I meant, I just... find it incredible.”

Mei Ruyan snorted coldly, glanced at Lin Tian and Bai Shishi, and told the doctor: ”Let’s step out; they have things to say.”

The doctor and nurse promptly nodded in agreement, having sensed something amiss between the couple. Now that the examination was complete, they naturally had to leave.

After all, this was a VIP ward, and those inside were people he as a doctor could not afford to offend.
