Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Chapter 688: 688 possible

Huang Ying ran away, but Wei Kaiyun was pondering her words.

He remembered his wife told him the same thing, to trust the leaders and follow them with peace of mind.

Before leaving work in the evening, the doctor came to check on Jiang Xinyu.

”Not bad. Just wait patiently, it’s all right.”

The couple thanked the doctor. Wei Kaiyun bought dinner at the cafeteria, each having a bowl of meat noodle soup with a poached egg.

”There’s also a twist bread. Do you want some, my wife?”

”No, this bowl of noodles is enough for me; you have it.”

After finishing their meal, Wei Kaiyun accompanied his wife for a stroll in the courtyard.

The three children at home were eating too, but not with much appetite.

”You three, don’t worry. With your father there, your mother will be fine.”

”Master Shang, can we go to the hospital to see my mom?” Jiang Feifei frowned beautifully.

”Feifei, what use would it be for you to go? You’d only worry your mom more. Just stay at home and wait obediently.”

”Yes, little sister, let’s wait at home for mom and dad.”

”Tomorrow morning, you can help me in the melon patch,” Master Shang instructed.

With both mom and dad suddenly not at home, the children were not used to it.

Old Yang had just finished his meal, and Zhao Xiaoli felt very tired, so Jing Chu handled the housework.

”Sister Xiaoli, what’s wrong? You look really exhausted.”

”I don’t know, I suddenly feel overwhelmed today. My whole body aches.”

Lv Jingchu leaned closer to Zhao Xiaoli, ”Sister Xiaoli, are you about to have your period?”

Zhao Xiaoli froze for a moment, ”It’s already two days late; it should have come the day before yesterday.” Her periods were very regular, and this was delayed by two days.

Could it be that she’s pregnant? But they haven’t been married for a month yet?

She was also very unsure, ”I don’t know either.”

”Could you be pregnant?” Jing Chu’s voice was a bit loud, and Old Yang looked over.

”No way, it’s so soon.”

”Well, you should take it easy these few days, whether you’re pregnant or not. Stay at home and rest; I’ll go to work,” Old Yang suggested.

He seemed calm, but inside, he was very excited.

”Sister Xiaoli, do we need to go to the hospital for a check-up?”

”What can they find out now? If I’m not pregnant, wouldn’t that be awkward? Let’s wait a few days.”

”Sister Xiaoli, you take a break these days. I’ll handle the housework, so just take care of yourself.”

”Sis, I’m here too; I can do all the chores,” Zhao Xiaoqiang added.

”Okay, I’ll rest.”

Old Yang fetched water for Zhao Xiaoli to bathe, then took Guodong and Xiaoqiang to the river to wash up.

Only the two women were left at home. After their baths, they sat in the courtyard to cool off. ”Sister Xiaoli, I think you are pregnant. Our periods are usually precise, and yours is late. Besides, you just had your period during your wedding. Isn’t that what the books say? Those days are the easiest to get pregnant.”

”What books?”

”Aunt Jiang showed me. She said there’s no need to be shy. Girls need to know how to protect themselves.”

”I don’t know either, but I hope I am pregnant. Jingchu, you don’t know that since we came here and knowing about my parents’ accident, I’ve always wanted to have my own family.

Now that I’m married, and Xiaoqiang is here, if there’s a baby, it would be a complete family.”

”Sister Xiaoli, it must be the case. Listen to Uncle Yang and just rest at home.

Your absence won’t be missed here. Isn’t Uncle Yang here too?”

”Yes, I know, but I’m just afraid of the gossip.”

”Let them say whatever. They’re just jealous, not worth bothering about,” Jing Chu said with a dismissive eye roll.

”Hehe, I know, I’ll take good care of myself.”

When Old Yang and the others returned, they sat in the courtyard for a while.

”Xiaoqiang, do you want a twist bread?” Old Yang asked his brother-in-law.

”It’s almost bedtime?”

”You’re still growing. Don’t go to bed hungry. Go get a twist bread to eat.”

”Sure, do you all want some?”

”All four of you have some; it’s okay. Once we finish, I’ll get more.”

”Uncle Yang, the store-bought ones aren’t as tasty as Aunt Jiang’s.”

”Then I’ll get them made by Sister-in-law Liu. You all eat with ease.”

Each of the four had a twist bread, and Jing Chu also made milk powder for everyone.

The couple lay on the kang, and today Old Yang didn’t make a move; instead, he held Zhao Xiaoli’s hand.

”Wife, don’t overthink it. A baby would be great, but if not, we’ll try again.”

”Yeah, I know. I want a child.”

”Me too,” Old Yang said with a smile.

”Shouldn’t Jiang Xinyu be giving birth soon?”

”She probably went to the hospital. Oh right, if you’re really pregnant, I’ll find someone to take care of you, just like Sister-in-law Liu does. Jingchu is still a kid after all.”

”Wouldn’t that invite unwanted comments?”

”Wife, live for yourself, don’t worry about others’ opinions.

You’re married to me, and I give you the confidence.”

”Alright, but let’s wait until the pregnancy is further along, okay?”

”Okay, sure. Your call.”

Both were hoping for this child, though there was still a chance she wasn’t pregnant, leaving them waiting anxiously.

The next morning, Old Yang went to find Wang Shulin and asked for leave for his wife.

”Haha, your wife doesn’t need to work, and you can still support her.”

”It’s just that she’s shy, afraid of what others might say.”

”Haha, I didn’t expect Old Yang to be so good to his wife?”

”Who else should I treat well if not my wife?”

”Right, a wife is one’s own. By the way, Old Yang, how well do you know that Mr. Lv? My foolish cousin only has eyes for him, but he’s left, and he rejected her.

My aunt knows she wants to remarry and is trying to find someone for her, but this stubborn girl said if it’s not Mr. Lv, she’d rather stay single. It’s really worrying.”

”Village Chief Wang, I’m not very familiar with Mr. Lv; he’s a friend of Ms. Jiang.”

”Sigh, his short stay here took my cousin’s heart.”

Old Yang didn’t know what to say, so he returned home to eat.”

Before going to work, Jingchu reminded Zhao Xiaoli to wait for her to come back to make lunch.

”I can at least manage cooking; go ahead and work.”

Before leaving, Old Yang also told Zhao Xiaoli not to do anything.

At the hospital, after Jiang Xinyu had breakfast, she continued strolling in the courtyard. The weather wasn’t hot yet, but otherwise, it would be unbearable.

”Wife, what’s wrong?” Wei Kaiyun asked in a panic, seeing his wife stop suddenly.

”Wei Kaiyun, my stomach hurts a bit, maybe it’s starting.”

With just those words, a sweat broke out on Wei Kaiyun’s forehead immediately.
