I, the Destined Villain, Start by Controlling the Saint

Appearance reflects the heart: He must be a good person!Lin Ningqin said suspiciously, ”Really? You’re not lying to me.”

Lin Yu swore, ”No, I was wrong before, I was too petty.”

Saying that, he said to Xiao Fan:

”Thank you, Fellow Daoist, for saving my sister’s life.”

”Consider this Saint Hall Training opportunity my repayment to you, Fellow Daoist.”

Clearly, Lin Yu wanted to use this opportunity to repay Xiao Fan.

This way, Ningqin wouldn’t feel indebted to him.

Lin Ningqin, fearing Xiao Fan didn’t know about the Saint Hall Training, explained it to him.

”Brother Xiao Fan, we were brought to the Saint Hall by Shang Ling, Grand Unity Revered Master, to prepare for the Saint Hall assessment. If we pass the assessment, we can go a step further and participate in the Saint Hall Training.”

”Saint Hall Training, Grand Unity Revered Master Shang Ling said, will gather Prodigies from the three thousand Immortal Realms. Those who rank high will receive many rewards, and even have the chance to listen to the legendary Saints lecture on the Dao.”

”...”

Lin Ningqin told Xiao Fan everything she knew in meticulous detail, afraid of any oversight.

Lin Yu nodded and said, ”Roughly, yes. Passing the assessment allows you to participate in the Saint Hall Training, and the benefits are more than you imagine.”

As he spoke, he specifically glanced at Xiao Fan, looking extremely arrogant.

Lin Yu had sharp eyes.

He saw Xiao Fan traveling alone, with no attendants, guards, or maidservants by his side.

In his opinion, Xiao Fan was at most a Young Master from a noble family, perhaps impressive in the past, but not much to look at in the Saint Hall.

”Come with us. This can also be considered my repayment for saving Ningqin.”

Interesting!

How could Xiao Fan not see Lin Yu’s little scheme?

Using this as thanks for my rescue, to reduce Lin Ningqin’s sense of indebtedness to me.

This operation is fine.

But used on Xiao Fan, he could only make Ningqin fall deeper and deeper.

Moreover, Lin Yu’s repayment was so bad even dogs would shake their heads.

What he needed was the repayment of both Lin Ningqin and Hua Yinyin!

The kind of repayment where a drop of kindness is repaid with a gushing spring!

Xiao Fan looked bewildered and said,

”Assessment, what assessment?”

”Does participating in the Training require an assessment?”

Lin Yu became even more certain that Xiao Fan was a Young Master from some Immortal Realm force, and his worldly experience was limited to that Immortal Realm.

He hadn’t even heard of a prerequisite like an assessment; a frog in a well.

He was incomparable to someone like himself, who had seven Grand Unity Revered Masters.

Lin Yu introduced, ”Before the Saint Hall Training, you must pass an assessment.”

”You don’t even know that?”

Xiao Fan shook his head and said, ”What assessment? Isn’t the Training just about everyone arriving?”

”Don’t you have Training spots? I thought you did.”

”Look, I have this spot.”

Inadvertently, Xiao Fan revealed the token he had obtained from Miao Xiaoqing.

Lin Yu was stunned.

It had the words Eternal Saint Academy on it. Was he a Disciple of a Saint Academy?!

Lin Yu, of course, knew that the Saint Hall and Saint Academy had a direct relationship.

Saint Academy Disciples didn’t need an assessment and had direct Training spots.

The moment he saw Xiao Fan’s Saint Academy token, he felt like a clown.

Others could just enter directly; why would they need an assessment?

Lin Yu’s face turned as dark as a pig’s liver, his fists clenched tightly beneath his long sleeves. Damn it, he got to show off!

This was just the beginning.

Xiao Fan, of course, noticed his embarrassment.

You want to act like a big shot in front of me? I’ll show you what showing off truly means!

Xiao Fan said to Ningqin:

”Ningqin, I didn’t expect you to also be here for the Saint Hall Training. Congratulations!”

”By the way, are you confident about the assessment?”

After Lin Ningqin learned of Xiao Fan’s identity, she felt a slight disappointment, having thought she could help him.

She shook her head and said, ”Not very confident. My talent isn’t enough. Even with the divine water Brother Xiao Fan gave me, I barely reached my current Realm.”

Xiao Fan pondered for a moment, then took her hand and said,

”How about this, you come with me. I’ll arrange a Saint Academy Disciple identity for you, so you can participate in the Saint Hall Training even without an assessment.”

”Really, really?” Lin Ningqin said in surprise, gripping his hand tightly.

She needed to become stronger. Only then could she accumulate strength and achieve revenge.

Her original intention was to help Xiao Fan, but she ended up receiving his favor instead. Lin Ningqin felt she had no way to repay him.

”Really, I’m not lying to you.”

”It’s just...”

At this point, Xiao Fan seemed a bit troubled.

”If you come with me, your brother won’t mind, will he?”

”Brother Lin, I’ll take Ningqin to the Training, allowing her to bypass the assessment. What do you think?”

Xiao Fan spoke in a pleading tone, completely like a victim.

This put Lin Yu in a difficult position.

He had repeatedly claimed to dote on his sister, so an opportunity like this, to participate in the Training without an assessment, should rightfully be secured for Ningqin.

But the thought of this being Xiao Fan’s favor made it difficult for him to accept.

He had originally intended to repay his debt, but wouldn’t this just accumulate more debt? No!

”No, Ningqin, don’t trouble him. We’ve already received his favor once, how can we trouble him with everything?”

”...”

Lin Yu spoke at length, but it was all a refusal.

He wouldn’t let Ningqin go with Xiao Fan.

Ningqin also thought so.

She hadn’t given Brother Xiao Fan anything, and bothering him as soon as they met made her feel like a burden to him.

”Brother Xiao Fan, you’re too much trouble. Ningqin feels a bit bad, so maybe let’s just forget it.”

This was exactly the effect Xiao Fan wanted.

He held Ningqin’s hand tightly, shaking his head and saying,

”You should know my painstaking efforts. I only hope you can become stronger and move towards a better future, that’s all.”

”I’m an only child, with no siblings, so ever since you called me ’Brother’ that day, I’ve treated you as my own younger sister.”

”A brother providing convenience for his sister isn’t a favor; it’s all my own volition.”

At the end of his words, Xiao Fan gently caressed her cheek, looking at her beautiful face and softly saying,

”I help you without expecting anything in return. I’m just following my heart’s desire, wanting to shield you from the wind and rain.”

Lin Ningqin was struck by lightning, her beautiful eyes wide, filled with disbelief.

Since her parents passed away, no one had cared for her like this, except for her aunt.

This kind of selfless affection gave her an indescribable feeling in her heart.

At least, Lin Yu had never given her this.

Lin Yu only acted according to his own wishes, without the slightest consideration for her feelings.

To refuse again would be impolite!

”Thank you, Brother Xiao Fan.”

”Are you willing to come with me?”

”Mm!” She nodded vigorously.

Xiao Fan smiled, gently embracing the beauty.

Inadvertently, his gaze swept across Lin Yu’s face.

Lin Yu was about to explode with anger, but his face remained outwardly calm.

As expected of a Child of Destiny!

Lin Yu certainly wouldn’t let him take Ningqin away, finding all sorts of reasons to refuse.

He said that they had received too many favors and couldn’t repay them.

Xiao Fan retorted that he sought no repayment.

I just treat Ningqin as my sister!!

His words were filled with various assurances and pleas, hoping Lin Yu would relent.

For example, Xiao Fan used the classic line: ”Brother Lin, I’m providing convenience for Ningqin, you won’t mind, will you?”

”I really have no other intentions. I just genuinely want to be good to Ningqin. Believe me, I truly just see her as a sister, that’s all.”

A tug-of-war between the two began.

The onlookers discussed animatedly.

”Holy cow, directly giving a Training spot? This Young Master has some power!”

”Not necessarily. I think he’s probably just lusting after that Fairy’s body.”

”You’re just dark-hearted and can’t stand to see others do well. How important is a Training spot? How can it just be given away?”

”Exactly, exactly. For ordinary people to get a Training spot, they first need a powerful Cultivator’s recommendation. Just this step alone stops countless people, not to mention the assessment part later.”

”That makes sense. Using this opportunity to bypass the assessment and directly enter the Saint Hall Training to chase girls? You’re only at this Realm.”

”If I had this spot, I could casually sell it to some force and get their sect leader’s Dao Companion and daughter at the same time, from head to toe.”

”This Fairy is lucky to meet a good person.”

”Young Master, my youngest daughter is a twin, naturally beautiful, and I also have another pair of twin daughters. My wife is also still charming. Would you like to consider them?”

”...”

The conspiracy theories were self-defeating, because the Saint Hall Training spot was too valuable.

Even if one were a spendthrift, they wouldn’t squander it to this extent.

So no one believed it was a conspiracy; they were more willing to believe it was unconditional affection.

Lin Yu stubbornly refused, just wouldn’t budge.

This made many people curse him.

”Seriously? You can’t stand to see your own sister do well?”

”This Young Master is so kind. You don’t thank him, and you’re still obstructing him.”

”If it were me, I’d at least kowtow twice to this Young Master. No, two hundred times.”

”...”

Lin Yu really couldn’t stand it. Even he, who was mocked daily, couldn’t endure such gossip.

Finally, he could only force a smile:

”Ningqin, if we keep talking like this, it’ll seem like I’m heartless.”

”Thank you.”

Xiao Fan saw him force out that ’thank you,’ not knowing how big a decision it was.

He secretly chuckled to himself, ’You want to fight me? I’ll infuriate you!’

Xiao Fan smiled, ”We’re family, no need for formalities. It’s all just what I should do.”

Xiao Fan then said to Hua Yinyin:

”Auntie, you come over too. I still have an open spot here.”

”Mm!”

Hua Yinyin nodded with a smile. He was handsome, had a powerful background, and cared so much for Ningqin. Ningqin’s future days would surely be comfortable.

She should have been happy, but why was there a faint bitterness in her heart?!

When it was Lin Yu’s turn, Xiao Fan apologized:

”Sorry, Brother Lin, I could only secure two spots. This is my maximum effort.”

”You should be able to pass yourself, right?”

Lin Yu was furious. Damn it, you really know how to rub salt in the wound.

But he couldn’t flare up, so he could only force a smile:

”I’m confident.”

”Mm, then I wish you good luck. Ningqin, Auntie Yin Yin, and I will wait for you at the finish line.” Xiao Fan prepared to take the two women away, first to let their emotions warm up.

Then to let the Soul’s vessel warm up.

Finally, to achieve the Soul’s tremor... and resonance.

Lin Yu stopped him and said,

”Wait, it’s not that I don’t trust you, but I must personally be responsible for my sister’s safety.”

”We’re going to Tiandao Sect. You can pick Ningqin up when the Training assessment begins.”

Tiandao Sect?!

A bit familiar. I wonder how Chen Miaoli is doing.

After thinking for a moment, Xiao Fan said, ”I haven’t seen Ningqin in a long time. Can I go with you?”

”No other meaning, you two talk about your business, Ningqin and I will just catch up.”

The two maidens from Tiandao Sect exchanged glances, secretly communicating:

”This man is so handsome. No one in our Tiandao Sect can compare to him.”

”He is, a bit. What a pity, I’m not his sister.”

”Should we take him?”

”He’s so good-looking, he shouldn’t be a bad person, and he has a Saint Academy token, so he should be a Disciple of a Saint Academy.”

”I think that makes sense. Appearance reflects the heart. Someone so handsome must be a good person.”

The two exchanged thoughts and made a decision:

”No problem, Young Master, please do.”
