Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1491: Chapter 1491: Sir Wu Brings News

Shu Yu’s carriage quickly headed toward the workshop entrance, but as they neared, they saw Daniu standing in another direction at the gate, sending off a strange young man into a carriage and watching him leave.

Shu Yu got down from the carriage and stood at the entrance waiting for him.

Daniu returned, but his face wasn’t looking good. He was slightly frowning and didn’t even notice Shu Yu had arrived.

He abruptly stopped when he got closer, “Yu?”

“Who was that?”

“The Eldest Young Master of the Wu family.” As Daniu led her inside, he explained.

Wu family?

Shu Yu knew of the Wu family only as the maternal family of Ding Yuehua’s sister-in-law.

She uncertainly asked, “Is it the Wu family that does livestock trading in Donggu County and bought alfalfa from us earlier?”

Daniu nodded, “Yes, that’s the one.”

“What’s the Wu family’s Eldest Young Master here for? They sell donkeys and horses, we shouldn’t have any business dealings with them, right?”

When this topic was brought up, a trace of worry flashed across Daniu’s face.

It wasn’t until the two were in the workshop’s ‘office’ that they stopped. Daniu closed the door, sat across from Shu Yu, and spoke in a slightly lowered voice, “Young Master Wu brought us some news: someone in Donggu County has already started planting sunflowers.”

Even though the Wu family and Shu Yu only had contact when they first sold the alfalfa, they held a good impression of each other. So even if there were no business dealings, the Wu family would give the Lu family a heads up if there was any news.

Daniu said, “The party is a wealthy landlord from Donggu County. They just planted not long ago, and the growth isn’t as high as ours yet. But the Wu family has seen sunflowers at an incomplete growth stage before and can tell that those are, indeed, sunflowers.”

Shu Yu slightly squinted her eyes, but she didn’t feel surprised at all.

Sunflowers are a new variety. Even if they’re just a type of food, they can be used to make oil. And even if they just bloom, there would be people wanting to try and plant them.

Moreover, now that people know this can bring substantial profits, the number of people planting them will definitely increase in the future.

But this thing, ordinary folks wouldn’t plant easily, since it’s not a staple food. Unless they have an arrangement like the villagers in Shangshi Village do with Shu Yu, having a purchase agreement ensures a safety net to try it out.

Therefore, Shu Yu never thought that she would be the only one forever planting sunflowers.

Honestly, hearing that the first household only started planting now seems a little late. According to her predictions, it should have been earlier.

She asked Daniu, “How much land did the other party plant?”

“Young Master Wu said it’s about three to four acres, not much.”

Shu Yu nodded, which seemed normal as she was the only one with sunflower seeds.

Her sunflower field has always been closely guarded, especially nearing maturity and harvest, where even people from the workshop are brought over to patrol and guard. Trying to steal some sunflower seeds to plant from her is not easy.

However, aside from her own, the villagers of Shangshi Village also plant them.

But the villagers of Shangshi Village have signed contracts with her not to sell sunflowers to others without permission, nor would they dare to. But since it’s a village, apart from Daqiang planting about ten acres, everyone else only plants one, two, or three acres at a time.

Even if they patrol nearby, with the land being so scattered, it’s impossible to watch over it all. Getting a little stolen is normal.

Or perhaps selling a tiny bit is also possible.
