Chapter 1467: Chapter 1467: Suspicions Confirmed

“Then what? Did he do anything else?”

Meng Han frowned, thought for a moment, “Also, he was quite kind to the servants in our household. Earlier, Aunt Zhang fell down on her way out, and Young Master Jiang saw her, recognized her as someone from our Meng family, and quickly took her to the clinic. He even bought some food and drinks, and paid for the medical expenses directly.”

“Aunt Zhang?” Meng Yunzheng asked, “Is she the Aunt Zhang your father brought back to the Meng family after the Quansheng Escort Agency’s downfall more than ten years ago?”

When Song Xin died back then, Uncle Meng handled the affairs afterwards, including those of the servants in the escort agency.

Though there were only a few people in total, Uncle Meng brought them back to the Meng family for settlement.

The Aunt Zhang mentioned by Meng Han should be the one he knows.

Sure enough, Meng Han nodded, “Yes.”

Meng Yunzheng rubbed his temple, confirming his suspicion—Jiang Kuanyu sought opportunities to approach the Meng family just to investigate his matters.

Based on timing, it was around mid-August last year, which was when Gong Qiu was captured and imprisoned. At that time, Shu Yu secretly told him that Meng Yunzheng was his only son, in order to prevent him from dragging Meng Yunzheng down with him.

Gong Qiu was evidently skeptical, so even though he was in prison, he still found a way to send someone to the Meng family to confirm Meng Yunzheng’s ancestry?

Jiang Kuanyu was the one who came to investigate.

Whether approaching Tao Qin, or drinking and talking with Uncle Meng, or helping Aunt Zhang, his intentions were very clear.

He glanced at Shu Yu, who had a serious expression, clearly having realized it too.

Meng Han was unaware that the two had been thinking about other things; she continued to diligently recount Jiang Kuanyu’s subsequent actions and behavior.

“Later, on the day of the escort, Young Master Jiang came over with the box set to be delivered to Huajiang Prefecture. Tao Qin came out hopping on one foot to see, and Young Master Jiang said a few words of apology and gave her tonics, telling her to take care of herself, saying he was leaving.”

“Tao Qin panicked upon hearing this, blocking his way and refusing to let him go. At first, she hinted at him to stay a few more days, and as the conversation progressed, she bluntly suggested he take responsibility. Young Master Jiang was shocked, and his servant pushed Tao Qin. My mother got angry, and the scene became very ugly.”

“Afterwards, Young Master Jiang felt that the Meng family was unreasonable, said he wouldn’t give my father the escort job, and left the Meng family in a huff with the box. Since then, we haven’t seen him.”

Because of this incident, Uncle Meng lashed out at Ms. Tao, and upon hearing the commission Jiang Kuanyu offered was considerable, Ms. Tao felt deeply regretful.

Perhaps out of guilt, when Meng Pei and Meng Yunzheng returned more than a month later, Ms. Tao didn’t dare to be too excessive, fearing Uncle Meng would settle both old and new scores.

After Meng Han finished speaking, she cautiously asked, “Cousin, Sister Shuyu, this Young Master Jiang, isn’t he a good person?”

“Hmm, his actions are very suspicious, and he is deeply calculating. If you see him again in the future, don’t go near him,” Meng Yunzheng instructed.

Meng Han nodded instinctively, “Got it.”

“Also, what we talked about today, the questions we asked you, don’t mention them to anyone. Not to your father, nor your brother.” At least, not for now.

Meng Yunzheng spoke seriously, fearing she might not take it to heart, adding another sentence, “This is for your safety.”

Meng Han hastily replied, “I understand.”
