System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

July 30th, Thursday, noon.

Long County, Yuelu Avenue, Chen Mansion, in the Mongolian yurt private dining room!

The cabinet air conditioner blew the windblock with a creaking noise, while the native chicken, pig stomach, and pork intestines in the pot were turning up and down in the boiling broth.

A faint blue smoke filled the air, and the aroma was pervasive.

Lu Cheng enthusiastically poured the specially bought Mao wine, then bent down to serve it to Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an: ”Teacher Tong, Teacher Chen, today you two must enjoy yourselves. Although there are only two bottles of this wine, our hometown’s specialty of wine spirits is more than enough.”

The two bottles of Mao wine cost Lu Cheng over 5,000 yuan, which was too costly for more.

”It’s enough, it’s enough, this is already quite enjoyable… This should be authentic native chicken, otherwise, it couldn’t stew out this aroma.” Tong Yuan’an’s round face looked quite honest and friendly, with chubby fingers.

Chen Song held his hands in front of his chest, saying seriously, ”Old Tong, you’re really not being fair!~”

”Do you think it’s easy for Director Xiang Dahong of the State Hospital to get a promotion by going to the countryside?”

”And just like that you squeezed him out?”

”Tsk tsk…”

Tong Yuan’an turned his broad face, his chubby apple cheeks looking adorable: ”How would I know… wasn’t it you creating trouble?”

”I must say, Chen Song, you’re such a rascal, you knew the Renmin Hospital had a rural doctor, but you didn’t remind me?”

”Just to see me make a fool of myself?” Although Tong Yuan’an looked simple and honest, he spoke bluntly.

Tong Yuan’an, an associate professor in the hand surgery department at Xiangya Hospital, wouldn’t consider much to gain grassroots work experience for a higher level promotion.

He had called Long County People’s Hospital, and it was initially agreed that they had a rural doctor at the county hospital.

Tong Yuan’an then said forget it, I’ll go to the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital.

But just a few minutes before hanging up, Renmin Hospital called back saying it’s possible…

No way around it, if Tong Yuan’an went to Xiangzhou People’s Hospital, even the hand surgery director could only smile wryly.

Although Tong Yuan’an was just an associate chief physician, the gap between associate chief physicians could be larger than that between a layman and an associate chief physician.

Chen Song rolled his eyes: ”Who are you, Tong Yuan’an from Xiangya Hospital, associate professor, said to be the most competent young associate professor in the hand surgery of Xiang Province.”

”How would I know you’d suddenly pop by Long County People’s Hospital to go to the countryside?”

”Wasn’t Xiangya Hospital’s counterpart assistance not here? What’re you here for?”

”Stealing the base, huh?”

”You’re not being fair, even to steal the base you’re ’killing people’, ruining someone’s future is like killing one’s parents.”

The slots for grassroots hospital support and assistance are also limited, not just free for all; once filled, they’re gone.

The counterpart assistance between Xiangya Second Hospital and Long County People’s Hospital has been ongoing for many years, and the sudden appearance of someone else from Xiangya Hospital was unexpected even to Chen Song.

Tong Yuan’an flushed with embarrassment: ”You just wanted to see me make a fool of myself.”

Tong Yuan’an didn’t delve deeply into specific reasons for now.

Lu Cheng then raised his wine glass: ”Teacher Tong, I toast to you, thank you for taking the time to guide me during your rest.”

”Switch to a smaller glass, Xiao Lu, although you brought the wine, you can’t be selfish and think just about filling your own belly.” Tong Yuan’an’s wisdom surpassed even his physique.

He could elegantly advise Lu Cheng to drink less.

Lu Cheng replaced with a small wine glass: ”Teacher Tong, is this alright, really thank you for your guidance, it’s because of your and Teacher Chen’s careful guidance that I have made progress…”

Lu Cheng’s words weren’t off-point, his logic was correct… so both Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an drank up.

But after setting the glass down, Tong Yuan’an said: ”Guidance is guidance, but cultivation relies on oneself, your rapid progress is fundamentally your own.”

”I’m not a teacher for the first time, if my guidance really had such miraculous effects, my students would’ve already overwhelmed the surgical bigwigs making them weep.”

”Xiao Lu, you should…”

Chen Song gently coughed: ”Xiao Tong, Jianghu rules.”

Chen Song, also an associate professor, associate chief physician, wasn’t intimidated by your Xiangya Hospital’s associate professor reputation; everyone being excellent, your bullying tricks don’t work.

Tong Yuan’an unhesitatingly grabbed Lu Cheng’s hand, turning it inside out: ”Indeed a good prospect for hand surgery.”

Chen Song cleared his throat, asking back: ”Tong Yuan’an, is it possible that Xiao Lu just happened to learn tendon suturing first, and his talents in general surgery are equally good?”

”If it wasn’t in the county people’s hospital where Xiao Lu could only do tendon suture, there’d be nothing about hand surgery now.”

Chen Song still remembered when he came, wanting to lead Lu Cheng in an appendectomy, but even before entering the operating room, Zeng Huanqi had already started the surgery, tightly controlling the learning resources...

Tong Yuan’an stood at the commanding point in output: ”Xiao Lu is our orthopedics guy, what does a three-legged cat in your emergency department know?”

”That was before!~” Chen Song emphasized.

”Now, Lu Cheng is a legitimate emergency physician, registered, surgical practitioner! My student.”

”Given you orthopedists the chance and you still couldn’t utilize it?”

”Is that on me?”

”What? You think doing finger reattachment is impressive?”

”How many died from severed fingers?”

”Can you do abdominal aortic dissection surgery? How many have died from abdominal aortic dissections?” Chen Song raised his chin.

Lu Cheng looked at Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an, thinking to himself, are these two really friends?

Are real friends’ conversations always so incisive?

Every remark hits right on the spot.

Seeing Tong Yuan’an speechless, Chen Song took the position of a victor and steered the topic back, flicking his chin with his thumb: ”So, tell me, what are you here for?”

”Whatever you’re here for, I am too!” Tong Yuan’an said with a chubby grin.

”Xiao Lu, let’s go, leave the wine for him.”

”Pay up for the wine later! We’ll leave the food to feed you.” Chen Song just ignored the riddles Tong Yuan’an was making.

Tong Yuan’an said: ”Chen Song, have you calculated our ages? Hey, hell, the whole world revolves around you, Chen Song, you can get promoted, and I, Tong Yuan’an, can’t; you’re awesome, you’re remarkable!~ you’re number one in the world.”

Tong Yuan’an stuck out his chubby thumb, not moving an inch.

Chen Song sat back down: ”That’s it? So you didn’t go to your previously assisted Feng County People’s Hospital?”

Chen Song laughed: ”Tong Yuan’an, you’re impressive, you can even disregard hospital policies…”

Tong Yuan’an knew he couldn’t play word games with Chen Song, so he straightforwardly laid it out: ”Alright, truth be told, I’m here at Long County People’s Hospital to ask your student Lu Cheng for a favor.”

Chen Song stood his ground: ”What kind of help? Man or effort? Effort is fine, people are not.”

”Let’s put it this way, currently in tendon suturing, there are three main ideologies, one is Kessler, one is the Tang Method, and one is Tsuge, each doing their own thing! No one can convince the other.”

”But just two years ago, Dr. Tajima made improvements to the Tsuge Suturing Technique, according to their description, the Tajima Suturing Technique, which evolved from the original Tsuge Suturing Technique, could potentially dominate the tendon suturing field, even suppressing the Tang Method…”

”With this matter, the circle that knows is very narrow, and we in the industry certainly have strong feelings. So our department’s Director Tan has also been involved in developing improvements based on the Tang Method.”

”What we lack now is someone who can quickly master the Tajima Suturing Technique as a ’contestant’…” Tong Yuan’an turned his eyes to Lu Cheng.

Chen Song was not easily swayed, questioning: ”You’re not capable?”

Tong Yuan’an’s eyes widened on his plump face: ”Why do you talk so much crap?”

”Anyway, the current situation is that I’ve come. I just hope, Lu Cheng not only learns the Tajima Suturing Technique but learns it well and proficiently, and then serves as a control group.”

”Saying this outright isn’t exactly honorable, and other industry folks don’t understand our real relationship with friendly nations, so we can only do it ourselves.”

”Xiao Lu, would you be willing?”
