System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

This surgery took nearly four hours, and when Lu Cheng left the operating room, it was already 8:20.

The time-consuming nature was quite normal; if Liver Preservation Surgery wasn’t difficult, it wouldn’t have been a taboo surgery at the County Hospital.

Lu Cheng quickly called Lin Qianlong: ”Director Lin, Professor Chen and I are applying for a day off today.”

”If there’s a special emergency, transfer it if needed.”

Lin Qianlong’s tone suddenly heightened: ”Lu Cheng, don’t tell me you haven’t stopped for a break with Professor Chen before?”

”All the way until today?”

Lu Cheng honestly replied, ”Director Lin, it’s my lack of meticulousness in handling things, just focused on learning surgeries.”

”Are you damned?” Lin Qianlong’s pupils shrank abruptly, thinking Chen Song was brought to a ’sudden death’ scene by Lu Cheng, he cursed but stopped short:

”Are you Professor Chen’s illegitimate child? Why does he tolerate your nonsense?”

Lu Cheng really treated Chen Song like a Japanese, bossing him around without regard.

”Director Lin, mainly there are some minor surgeries, like Tendon Suturing and Appendicitis, I handled them myself, so I didn’t keep track of Professor Chen’s rest time...”

”Mainly it’s my problem. I will definitely pay close attention next time.” Lu Cheng did not defend himself.

”You need to take care of your health too!” Lin Qianlong said.

”And pay attention to Professor Chen’s rest time, always burning out like this, isn’t it just giving away for free?”

”Forget it...I’ll contact Professor Chen myself. Otherwise, if I give the surgery rights to you, you may mess things up.” Lin Qianlong abruptly hung up the phone.

He didn’t continue scolding Lu Cheng but revoked Lu Cheng’s ”surgery scheduling rights”!

Actually, Lin Qianlong could understand Lu Cheng; Lu Cheng worked longer than Chen Song, wasn’t he tired? Of course, he was.

But Lu Cheng knew the opportunity to learn didn’t come easily.

When he was ’tired’, he truly wouldn’t always have the effort to notice the details of Chen Song’s rest.

Lin Qianlong thought Lu Cheng would know when to rest and when not to, yet Lu Cheng acted like a madman...

Lu Cheng quietly put away his phone, also accepting Chen Song’s kind understanding, embedding it deep in his heart.

After finishing his shift and returning home, Lu Cheng took a shower and then immediately fell into a deep sleep.

This time, he slept straight until 7:40 in the afternoon.

When Lu Cheng opened his bedroom door, Lu Nanjia and his mother, Tian Hui, were watching TV. Hearing Lu Cheng’s door open, they immediately stood up and said, ”You must be exhausted after these few days away from home... We’ve been waiting to have dinner with you.”

Tian Hui, in a tone tinged with concern, immediately went to the kitchen to serve the meal, while Lu Nanjia opened the mosquito net over the dining table.

Lu Cheng said, ”Dad, Mom’s stomach isn’t good, can’t go hungry, you guys should eat first?”

”You know your mom, she wouldn’t start eating when you’re at home... without you joining,”

”As long as you’ve rested well, that’s what’s important. You must be exhausted these days, hurry and wash up and eat.” Lu Nanjia said plainly, inviting Lu Cheng to sit down.

Lu Cheng wasn’t overly formal with his parents and honestly sat down to wait for the ”feeding”. After Lu Nanjia sat back down, he said, ”Your uncle called again today.”

”He even praised you, saying you’re doing well in the emergency department, managing to carve out a niche on your own...”

Lu Cheng wasn’t surprised his uncle Lu Nanyong paid attention, saying, ”Actually, it’s not really about establishing a foothold, just having some opportunities.”

”Learning surgery isn’t something that can be rushed, if you master it, great, but if not, your real abilities will be revealed immediately.”

”Dad, you know me and Mom too well, maybe you both pampered me too much, I’m not the type who only shares the good news, hides the bad.”

”But no matter what, things will surely be better than before.” Lu Cheng looked at the skill points he accumulated, thinking it was finally time to indulge in spending them.

A chance to spend in one go.

Lu Nanjia paused for a moment, then said, ”Sharing both the good and the bad, that’s actually for the best, that way your mom and I won’t worry as much about you.”

”Just nothing much we can help you with.” Lu Nanjia sighed.

”Let’s eat...” Tian Hui came out with a bowl, first placing chopsticks and rice before Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng said, ”Home-cooked meals taste so good, better than outside restaurants. I think you and Mom could really open a small diner, it would definitely earn money.”

Tian Hui shook her head, ”No, no, I only know a few homemade dishes, opening a diner wouldn’t be feasible. We could lose all our savings...”

But hearing Lu Cheng say he liked home-cooked meals, Tian Hui still smiled happily.

After dinner, Lu Cheng proactively helped in cleaning up the dishes and then watched TV with his parents for a while. Around nine o’clock, Lu Cheng locked himself in the Training Room.

Lu Cheng looked at his skill points balance—

[Current Skill Points Balance: 42.3 points]

Then glanced at his skills panel.

[Suturing System Skills: Suturing Skill (Specialization 4/20), Tendon Suturing Skill (Skilled 7/10), Modified Kessler Suturing Method (Skilled 6/10) (+1), Tsuge Suturing (including sliding type) (Skilled 4/10) (+1), Modified Tang Method (Skilled 10/10)]

[Specialist Techniques: Gallbladder Removal Surgery (Beginner 4/5) (+2), Appendectomy (Beginner 5/5) (+2), Splenectomy (Beginner 3/5) (+2)]

The reason Lu Cheng didn’t rush to add points was that he found that the larger the skill difference between him and Chen Song, the easier it was to receive guidance and progress, saving more skill points.

With Chen Song backing up, Lu Cheng wasn’t afraid of the surgery quality not meeting the standard.

Moreover, after improving the basic skills, surgeries like Gallbladder Removal, Appendectomy, Splenectomy had a rapid enhancement rate.

In such circumstances, adding points would instead waste skill points and not achieve the maximum benefit.

[Insufficient Suturing Skill’s basic proficiency, Modified Tang Method breakthrough failed, all skill points refunded!]

Lu Cheng looked at this item.

Tendon Suturing Skill was a technique Chen Song could no longer guide or teach Lu Cheng, so after accumulating skill points, Lu Cheng attempted a breakthrough first, aiming to acquire the Modified Tang Method as soon as possible.

But this item struck Lu Cheng like a blow to the head.

While he understood, he didn’t support the panel playing like this...

Lu Cheng had asked Chen Song, and Professor Chen mentioned that the proficiency of basic skills determines the upper limit of a series of surgical skills’ proficiency levels!

Not practicing the basics is like practicing martial arts without cultivating inner strength, it’s just superficial.

Currently, even though the skill points increased a bit, still, they weren’t enough, so Lu Cheng could only test them step by step.

[Insufficient Tendon Suturing Skill’s basic proficiency, Modified Tang Method breakthrough failed, all skill points refunded!]

[Suturing System Skills: Suturing Skill (Specialization 10/20) (Skill Points -6), Tendon Suturing Skill (Specialization 0/20) (Skill Points -23), Modified Tang Method (Skilled 10/10)]

[Current Skill Points Remaining: 16.3!]

[Insufficient skill points to breakthrough.]

”Damn it...” Lu Cheng sat at the console, unable to suppress the burst of swearing any longer, cursing into the air without stopping.

Why is surgery so hard, why is the Modified Tang Method so difficult to learn, why are there so many pitfalls in tendon suturing?

At this moment, the ’words’ on the panel completely embodied it.

Why couldn’t Professor Chen Song master the Modified Tang Method, why is Xiang Dahong in the State People’s Hospital not adept at it?

Why was the flexor tendon in District Two known as No Man’s Land for so many years?

There’s a reason for everything.

After venting, Lu Cheng picked up his phone and saw a message from Brother Zeng Huanqi: ”Xiao Lu, come, there’s a tendon rupture, seems to be in the extensor tendon fourth region you mentioned.”

”Are you handling it or is it being referred out?”

”Peng Kun means he’s not doing it...” Zeng Huanqi hinted a few words to Lu Cheng.

Orthopedic Peng Kun, Young Master Kun, was not so ’obedient’ after all, occasionally letting his father deal with tendon rupture when Lu Cheng rested.

However, today Lu Cheng was resting yet was calm, the reason unclear.

”I’ll handle it, Brother Zeng, I’ll be there shortly.” With a few skill points short, Lu Cheng didn’t hesitate to dash out from home, riding his electric scooter on his way.

Dawn, 5:30 AM.

Lu Cheng finally reached the specialized level for the Modified Tang Method, satisfied, he lay down directly in the emergency department’s break room, falling fast asleep…

The Modified Tang Method was indeed difficult, learning it was full of obstacles, but Lu Cheng ultimately broke through.
