Gun of Ashes

Chapter 526: Chapter 112: Borgia’s Revenge_2

”Escape? Why should we escape?”

Shermans smiled at him, with an indescribable madness under the reflection of the firelight.

He struggled to open his pocket and took out two cylinders, finely crafted, seeming to be storage items.

”Help me load the rounds.”

Shermans said as he tossed over the flintlock gun. This kind of weapon is slow and troublesome to load, so Shermans always carried gunpowder and lead bullets with him.

In fact, this was like a sword with ornate decoration, often more a symbol of status. If one day Shermans, the Cardinal, who was protected by guards, needed to use a flintlock gun to fire, then he would be close to death.

Just like now.

”Sir, there’s still a chance!”

Yage tried to persuade Shermans, but the old man stubbornly shook his head. Unable to persuade, Yage followed orders.

As the battle intensifies, fireworks rise continuously, increasing the temperature of the entire wine cellar, the air becoming stuffy, Yage sweating profusely.

Pouring gunpowder into the barrel, then picking up a lead bullet, Yage was about to push it into the muzzle when he was stopped by Shermans.

”Lead bullets can’t kill that thing, use this.”

Shermans said as he opened another cylinder, one he hadn’t opened for a long time, only carrying it away from Florence as a precaution, not expecting he would need it one day.

”What is this?”

Yage took the cylinder, pouring out several bullets.

”A Cardinal’s privilege,” Shermans answered.

Yage asked no more and followed Shermans’ instructions, pushing the silver-white strange bullet into the muzzle, then using the iron rod under the flintlock gun’s barrel to push it to the back.

”Yage, I no longer wish to escape.”

Shermans suddenly stated, picking up the fully loaded flintlock gun, and Yage then realized the old man was holding onto the wall, struggling to stand.

”Sir...” Yage wanted to say something but was sternly stopped by Shermans.

”I’ve been escaping for too long, from Florence to Old Dunling, once a Cardinal favored by God, now dying in a foreign land.”

Shermans picked up Yage’s cane with his other hand, struggling toward the battlefield of Lorenzo and Samuel, stubbornly moving forward.

”I regret my decision, following Miguel was a mistake. He desires power, not that sacred faith. As long as he gets power, he doesn’t care whether we worship God or devils.”

Facing the scorching light, his silhouette turned black, Shermans forced his chest up, looking tall.

”No one cares about those things, but I care.”

Raising the flintlock gun, muttering prayers, his murky eyes fixated on the figures battling each other.

...

In the end, this melee became dull.

No matter how many times Lorenzo injured Samuel, that terrifying vitality always restored itself in a short time. Lorenzo had seen such horrifying healing power on Lawrence, relying on the Holy Grail’s flesh, Lorenzo had used bombardment and oil explosion, even severing his head to completely kill him.

”Feeling troublesome, huh?”

Samuel asked, the eerie red threads like a madman’s wild grass not only healing him but attacking Lorenzo as he approached, entangling his armor.

”Indeed, the Holy Silver in the Nail Sword cannot effectively restrain you.”

Lorenzo said in a deep voice, knowing Holy Silver could inflict effective damage on Demon Hunters, but often the wound healed halfway once Lorenzo drew the blade from Samuel.

”To kill you requires a kind of explosive attack, killing you instantly, so fast you can’t heal or find it hard to heal.”

Lorenzo paused his attack, knowing it was just meaningless cutting, neither could do anything to the other, Samuel aware of this too, stopped his hand.

”But your Authority is Medanzo. If it were Michael, I might be worried,” Samuel said.

Michael’s scorching fire is known as the most aggressive among Authorities, when that scorching temperature reaches the extreme, all materials will be destroyed instantly. But similarly, at the peak of that temperature, the Secret Blood of Demon Hunters will also soar to the limit, burning not only the Secret Blood but also flesh and the Silver Binding Bolt beneath.

Like a fallen star, after the brilliant shine, comes the black silence of death.

Both steadying their breath, seemingly conversing, but in reality, both recovering their strength.

”Are you ready to use that thing? Aren’t you afraid Shermans will die?”

Samuel stared directly at Lorenzo, but his peripheral vision carefully watched all his actions.

”You found out?” Lorenzo seemed surprised.

”I examined those corpses, the instant combustion, explosive impact, does not match your Authority. It can only be said that you carry some weapon capable of this.”

Samuel, an arrogant and cautious man, would not be careless facing an enemy like Lorenzo.

”Is that why you chose to fight here?”

Facing Lorenzo’s inquiry, Samuel nodded.

This is why Samuel deliberately decided on this battlefield, not just for Shermans, but also guarding against the Lacquered Antimony Flying Knife. In this confined space, Lorenzo wouldn’t easily use this weapon.
