Chapter 466: Chapter 80 Dunling Tower_3

”The meaning of being alive.”

”So what’s the answer?” Lorenzo asked.

”There is no meaning.”

Heracles shrugged his shoulders, indicating his helplessness as well.

”From between the lines, you can tell it was a pessimistic yet incredibly intelligent guy, he said everything is meaningless, everyone is dying, the Heracles of the previous second is dead, and the Heracles of the next second came back to life, only to die again.

Thus, we fall into a bizarre cycle, until we can no longer come back to life.”

Heracles chuckled helplessly.

”There’s indeed some truth to it; he also said this world will eventually head towards extinction, losing all its light and heat, becoming everything cold and silent.

The only meaningful thing is to end one’s life in a light-hearted manner on a somewhat comfortable night, in a moment that feels interesting.”

”Is the author still alive?”

”I’m not sure, who knows?”

Heracles snuggled in comfortably, Polo was also done with its madness, adeptly jumping into his lap.

”But I’ve only concluded one thing, people shouldn’t ponder these strange philosophies aimlessly, it only entraps us. But back to me.

Think about it carefully, Lorenzo, do you think humans could possibly have such memory?”

Heracles spoke earnestly.

”Such power is beyond what we know as ’normal,’ it’s an ’abnormality,’ sometimes I wonder if there’s such a possibility.”

”What possibility?”

”The real Heracles is already dead.”

Heracles still wore that familiar expression, without the slightest ripple, as if what he just said was an extremely commonplace sentence.

”Yes, the former Heracles didn’t have such a good memory, while the current Heracles established grandeur in the shadows with such power.”

He stifled his smile and spoke seriously.

”Perhaps the real me died at sea long ago, and now the Heracles you know is just a creature that has taken over this body, it possesses a terrifying memory, but it remembers too much, too much that it overlaps with the memory of this so-called Heracles, believing itself to have lived until now.”

The voice carried an eerie power, becoming a softly spoken horror in the thunderstorm, yet Heracles relaxed from his seriousness once again, smiling.

”You see, just like that, the serious Heracles just died, and now the smiling Heracles has come to life.

Every transformation of a human counts as a death and rebirth, you are like this too, Lorenzo, maybe 047 of Florence died, therefore 042 of Old Dunling came to life.”

”Who I am and where am I from doesn’t matter, what I want to do is what matters, right?”

Lorenzo spoke slowly, he knew this truth well, yes, who he is doesn’t matter, whether he’s 042 or 047 doesn’t matter, what matters is what he wants to do, but... but...

”But you still want to know the Truth, don’t you? 047 has clearly left significant marks on your life, marks so significant that you can’t even accept that this is just a split personality... those were such beautiful memories, but now they’re just false, everything you and he were is false, merely your imagination, or even you...

You, 042, everything you thought was also false, how could you possibly accept such an outcome?”

Heracles looked at the sorrowful Lorenzo, then he spoke casually.

”You possess the body of 047, yet think you’re 042... then let’s talk about him.”

”Who?”

”Another you, or rather... 047.”
