”My younger brother got into a fight in the academy and was killed by the opponent.”

”A fight in the academy? Isn’t fighting forbidden for students at Flying Leopard Academy? Didn’t the academy intervene to stop it? Or apprehend the killer afterwards?”

Qin Chuan shouted angrily.

Qin Xiaotian knew he couldn’t hide the truth, so he could only explain the real situation.

”Father, my brother had a conflict with a student named Yang Xiao, and so he issued a life-and-death challenge to him. Initially, we thought he could easily defeat the opponent, but unexpectedly that person had hidden his cultivation realm and was incredibly powerful, resulting in my brother’s death. According to the academy’s rules, in a life-and-death duel, both sides take responsibility for their own lives.”

”Bastard!”

Qin Chuan shouted in anger, slamming his hand on the table, causing it to shatter with a loud crash.

”Those damn instructors at Flying Leopard Academy watched as my son was killed and didn’t step in to stop it? What kind of damn rule is this?”

Qin Chuan was shaking with rage, and the butler hurriedly supported him, cautiously advising:

”Master, please don’t get upset, it’s bad for your health.”

”Qin Yue has now been killed, how can I not be sad? I won’t let this matter rest. I don’t care about Flying Leopard Academy’s rules; my son Qin Yue cannot die in vain like this.”

The Qin family had connections with the emperor of the Flying Leopard Empire, giving Qin Chuan some confidence in his words.

”Xiaotian, have you investigated the background of the person who killed Qin Yue?”

”Yes, Father, I’ve already investigated. The person is named Yang Xiao, from the Great Dragon Empire. His background is unclear, but his cultivation realm is at the peak of the King Level.

I originally planned to secretly kill Yang Xiao to avenge my brother, but it was accidentally exposed. I didn’t dare to openly defy the academy’s rules, so I abandoned the plan for revenge and returned with my brother’s body, awaiting your decision.”

”Humph, a lone wanderer from the Great Dragon Empire dares to act wantonly at Flying Leopard Academy? He’s really crossed the line.”

Hearing that Yang Xiao was an ordinary civilian with no background reassured Qin Chuan.

The butler by his side said:

”Since he’s just an ordinary civilian, then it’s easy to handle. We can send someone to talk to Dean Xinghai and make him hand over this person to us. Dean Xinghai shouldn’t offend us for the sake of a civilian.”

Qin Xiaotian nodded,

”If the Qin family steps forward, we should be able to pressure the academy into handing over Yang Xiao. However, I’ve already brought back my brother’s body; how should we arrange it?”

Qin Chuan sighed deeply, tears streaming down his old face as he choked up:

”Hold a funeral for the entire family!”

The butler said from the side:

”Yes.”

”Additionally, Xiaotian, you, your second uncle, and ten experts will return to Flying Leopard Academy. Let your second uncle represent me to confront Dean Xinghai and force him to hand over the murderer. We’ll wait for you to bring the murderer back to pay respect to Qin Yue’s spirit at the scene.”

”Yes, Father!”

That day, the Qin Mansion, the wealthiest house in the Flying Leopard Empire, publicly announced the mourning, and the entire mansion was in wailing.

Even the entire Flying Leopard Wenti City was alarmed.

The Qin family, as the wealthiest household, had strong ties to the current emperor, naturally attracting many people to come for condolences and comfort.

Qin Xiaotian mourned for his brother, received relatives and guests, which took up two days. Then, together with the Qin family’s second-in-command, his own uncle Qin He, and a dozen or so experts from the mansion, he returned to Flying Leopard Academy.

From Flying Leopard Wenti City to the small town at the foot of Flying Leopard Academy, there was a direct transmission array available, allowing for a quick return.

However, Qin He and his people didn’t have the academy’s identity jade tokens, making them unable to enter the academy.

Qin Xiaotian found the person in charge and explained the identities and purpose of Qin He and his companions.

The person in charge, knowing the influence and background of the Qin family, immediately issued a temporary access jade token to Qin He, allowing him to enter the academy together with Qin Xiaotian.

However, the dozen or so guards they brought couldn’t enter the academy and had to wait outside.

Qin Xiaotian took his uncle Qin He to the Advanced Academy Department and found Dean Xinghai.

Dean Xinghai was an old man with graying hair.

”Dean Xinghai, hello, I am from the Qin family of the Flying Leopard Empire, Qin Chuan’s younger brother, Qin He.”

Dean Xinghai smiled and nodded,

”Ah, so you’re Qin Chuan’s younger brother. Come, please sit.”

Qin He clasped his fists and bowed, his expression solemn, and said:

”Dean, I am here on behalf of my brother Qin Chuan for an important matter and need your help.”

Dean Xinghai chuckled and said:

”Your Qin family is the wealthiest in the Flying Leopard Empire, with a vast business empire. What could possibly require my help?”

”Dean, my brother Qin Chuan’s son Qin Yue was cultivating in the lower academy department of Flying Leopard Academy. Do you happen to remember this incident?”

”Hmm, about three years ago, when Qin Chuan sent his son here, he greeted me, and we had a meal together. I have some impression.”

”Several days ago, Qin Yue was killed in the academy. Did you know about this?”

Dean Xinghai was taken aback,

”Is there such a thing? How come I didn’t know?”

The atmosphere in the room instantly became tense.

Qin Xiaotian immediately bowed and said:

”Dean, four days ago, my younger brother dueled with a student named Yang Xiao in the arena in front of over three thousand people and was killed by Yang Xiao. I beg you, Dean, to seek justice for my brother.”

Qin Xiaotian’s voice choked as he spoke, tears streaming down his face.

Even though his brother had been dead for four days, Qin Xiaotian was still deeply saddened, as they were blood-related siblings with deep emotional ties.

Dean Xinghai looked at Qin Xiaotian with a serious expression, asking:

”Are you saying your brother Qin Yue was killed by a student named Yang Xiao during a duel?”

”Yes.”

”What was the reason for their duel? Was it a life-and-death challenge?”

Qin Xiaotian’s face turned awkward, and he nodded bravely,

”Yes, it was.”

Dean Xinghai sighed gently, looking at the two of them.

”Xiaotian, as a student of the Advanced Academy Department, you should know the rules. In a life-and-death challenge, life and death are at one’s own risk. Now that your brother has been killed, what do you want me to do?”

Qin Xiaotian lowered his head awkwardly, remaining silent.

Uncle Qin He then spoke:

”Dean, this issue isn’t entirely about the life-and-death challenge. Yang Xiao, in front of over three thousand people, was aware that Qin Yue could no longer defend himself and begged for mercy. Yet, he still cruelly killed Qin Yue in front of the entire crowd. This person is extremely brutal. How can a student with no sense of mercy be a qualified student at Flying Leopard Academy?”

Dean Xinghai glanced at Qin He and said calmly:

”Boss Qin, while what you say isn’t wrong, the academy’s rules have always been this way—life and death in the challenge are up to one’s own fate. If I hold Yang Xiao accountable because of this matter, what would become of our academy’s system and authority?”
