Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao was taken aback and quickly said:

”Forget it, I’m just a poor person. It’s easy to go from frugality to luxury, but difficult to go from luxury to frugality. If I get used to living here and you kick me out one day, I wouldn’t be able to get used to those shabby dorms again, and that’d be terrible.”

Yelu Caiyun’s beautiful eyes were misty, her cheeks slightly red, and she laughed softly:

”Are you afraid I’ll cling to you?”

Yang Xiao: ”...”

Sigh, a slip of the tongue, why couldn’t I resist making such a joke? It’s like digging a pit for myself.

Fortunately, Yelu Caiyun didn’t press further and laughed, saying:

”Let’s go sit in the garden at the back, I’ll show you the flowers I’ve planted.”

The two of them went to the garden behind the villa.

Yelu Qing was very tactful, found an excuse, and called Bing’er away, leaving Yang Xiao and Yelu Caiyun alone to chat in the garden.

The garden wasn’t big, just over a hundred square meters, filled with blooming flowers and dozens of various plants and flowers, showcasing a scene of vibrancy and vitality.

”Are all these planted by you?”

”Yes, before I moved in, this backyard was just grass, I thought it was too dull, so Qing’er and I found some wildflowers and grasses from the nearby mountains to plant, see, aren’t they blooming splendidly?”

Standing among the flowers, Yelu Caiyun’s smile was as radiant as the blooms.

Yang Xiao suddenly felt that perhaps Yelu Caiyun’s inner world was different from what he imagined.

He always believed that a girl who loves life and enjoys planting flowers must not have a dark heart.

Yelu Qing brought two cups of tea, along with some snacks and fruits, then returned inside to play with Bing’er.

Yang Xiao and Yelu Caiyun sat under the gazebo, leisurely sipping tea and chatting.

Yelu Caiyun looked at Yang Xiao and suddenly asked:

”Can I ask you a question?”

”Hmm?”

”I think you’re different from everyone else.”

”Haha, how am I different?”

Yang Xiao laughed.

”You’re certainly different. Most people who come to the academy are either desperately cultivating cultivation skills and improving genetic evolution, or simply indulging in eating, drinking, and playing games for pleasure, but you – you spend all your time in the library on the first floor reading books. Such discipline, there’s not a second person like you in the whole academy.

In my eyes, you’re a mystery.”

Yelu Caiyun’s tender gaze fell on Yang Xiao, seemingly trying to find answers from his facial expression.

Yang Xiao picked up his tea and took a sip, not answering her question, but instead asking:

”And you? How much do you know about yourself?”

Yelu Caiyun was stunned,

”Me?”

”Yes, do you really understand yourself?”

Yelu Caiyun chuckled,

”Of course, I understand myself.”

”Not necessarily. For example, why did you come to Flying Leopard Academy? Is it truly to improve your genetic evolution ability, or for some other purpose? Are the things you’re doing now what you love, or are they just obliged duties?”

Yelu Caiyun listened, her expression changed, and she fell silent.

Yang Xiao smiled faintly and said:

”Someone who’s genuinely obsessed with cultivating genetic evolution doesn’t have the mood to focus on gourmet foods or planting flowers and grass,

If you could freely choose, I believe you’d choose an ordinary but fulfilling life,

You wouldn’t excessively pursue genetic evolution cultivation, you’d prefer enjoying a mundane, rich life, like sitting in the garden drinking tea and chatting, watching the sunrise and sunset, and marveling at the blooming and wilting flowers...”

Yelu Caiyun’s heart suddenly trembled, staring blankly at Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao’s words struck directly to her heart.

Indeed, since young, Yelu Caiyun never liked cultivating genetic evolution, her talent was average. She loved gourmet food and learned to cook various delicacies with the family chef.

Her father scolded her harshly because of this.

Her mother, however, held her lovingly, emotionally telling her that the whole Yelu Family’s hope rests on her shoulders now – if she doesn’t break through to the Empire Level Realm, if she can’t find a husband with a stronger background later, the Yelu Family would degenerate into a third or fourth-rate family, perhaps even be destroyed by others.

She loved small flowers and grasses, planted dozens of varieties of wildflowers in the garden, but her father destroyed them all.

She was compelled to cultivate genetic evolution, even though her talent was mediocre.

Her father gave her a large amount of cultivation resources to help her grow step by step.

After she reached the King Level Realm, Yelu Caiyun’s talent bottleneck was fully exposed, her genetic evolution path was stuck.

Her father exerted tremendous effort, inviting numerous experts and trying many cultivation methods to boost genetic evolution, and with a vast supply of resources, ultimately helped her reach Intermediate King Level.

Since evolving to Intermediate King Level, Yelu Caiyun hasn’t made any progress.

She lived in a small city with limited cultivation resources.

So her father set his sights on Flying Leopard Academy, hoping Yelu Caiyun could enter Flying Leopard Academy – first, to strengthen and elevate genetic evolution, secondly, to meet some young elites and form worthy relationships.

For this, Yelu Caiyun had to repeatedly sacrifice her self-esteem and pride as a girl, using her beauty advantage to gain some additional conveniences and benefits.

Every time she went against her own intentions and did what she didn’t want, her heart felt tormented; she even felt disdain for herself, hated herself.

With just a few words, Yang Xiao touched upon her painful memories.

Yelu Caiyun looked at Yang Xiao, recalled her past experiences, a surge of sadness, her eyes moist, and inadvertently shed a tear.

Yang Xiao was startled,

”Did I say something wrong?”

Yelu Caiyun smiled bitterly, wiping away her tears,

”You didn’t say anything wrong, you said it very well. In the last twenty years, you’re the first person to truly understand me.”

After saying this, Yelu Caiyun tucked her hair by her ear and looked at Yang Xiao:

”Do you look down on me? Do you find me distasteful?”

”Do you want the truth or falsehood?”

”Of course the truth,”

”I did have some opinions about you, but Gao Lou later told me some things about you, I gradually understood some of your actions,

I don’t look down on you, rather, I admire you.”

Yelu Caiyun broke into a smile through her tears,

”Really?”

”Hmm!”

Yang Xiao nodded.

Yelu Caiyun sighed and said:

”Gao Lou is a good person, I’ve been playing with him since childhood,

You believe me, even without my family’s pressure, I really wouldn’t like him, wouldn’t marry him, I always considered him as a elder brother,

Gao Lou always thought my dislike was due to family pressure, aiming to find a husband with strong genetic evolution talent and powerful family background,

But it’s really not that, I don’t have any romantic feelings for Gao Lou, not even a little.”

Yelu Caiyun’s expression was urgent, afraid Yang Xiao wouldn’t believe her.

”You should tell Gao Lou directly, otherwise, he remains steadfastly devoted, which is not good for him or for you.”

”Sigh, I’ve subtly told him many times, but he just doesn’t believe or give up, so there’s nothing I can do. I see you have a good relationship with him, when convenient, you should try to talk to him.”

Yang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

This isn’t an easy task, isn’t that inviting criticism?

I’m here chatting with Yelu Caiyun over tea, then turn around and tell Gao Lou Yelu Caiyun doesn’t like him, what would he think of me?
